It's certainly a solid chippie, but that's about it really. I'm not a huge fan of fish and chips. Well, more so the fish aspect, but I don't often venture into these sorts of takeaways (give me a Chinese any day). Having said that, I know a good chip or two when I see one, and the Bethany's aren't half bad. Last time I popped in, I decided to be a tad adventurous and opt for a burger, which was pretty good. I certainly have no complaints in relation to the food. However, the staff are another thing altogether. I understand they're under pressure, but they were really quite rude and ill-mannered...no smiles to be had at all. I was asked several times what my order was, as the lady couldn't hear me, and the team just generally seemed quite irritable. I'll put it down to being overworked and busy, simply because the place was pretty hectic that evening. You could definitely do worse than The Belmont Bethany, but you could also do a bit better.

Although a little observation would be that customer service is mainly limited to 'whats yers love?". One does feel very loved in this shop due to the lady at the counter calling every one love!! I've been here a couple of times by accident because the kebab shop down the road was closed and I wasn't left disappointed. Its decently priced and is a 6 out of 10 in the chipper scale. A fine choice for your saturday night treat in front of Simon Cowell's dominance.

I am totally out of my element here and had flavor, spice and textures that were super exciting. The Mac and cheese with brisket took the simple family concept and wowed.

Great atmosphere and service, lovely decor and a great menu…read more I made a week-night booking and although it's only been open a few weeks, it was pretty full with people. The venue gives off a welcoming vibe with its red brick walls and candle lights creating an intimate atmosphere. They also have a spacious alfresco dining out front for those hot summer night as it was tonight. For starter I had crispy chilli beef (with lime & coriander mayonnaise). This delicious salad was bursting with flavour. Chillies and lime - beef has never tasted so good! And Scallops the richness of the black pudding is magic with the clean taste of the scallops - delicious! My main of lamb rump was a good sized serve. Worth having again! I also managed to swipe a taste of the Barbary duck breast I can vouch that it was melt-in-the-mouth perfect and came with a very generous amount of the sauce, fondant potato & vegetables. When it came to dessert Chocolate mouse though, was an absolute knock-out. I had a really good night and excellent service from Ben and his team! I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu, including the Sunday roast and bring my son as kids eat free! 405 Upper Newtonards Road, Tel: 02890671105
