I've always been a little hesitant to try something new, but last year I was having some major health issues and a friend encouraged me to try acupuncture. I was introduced to Yaping, the owner and we discussed my issues as well as my hesitation and nervousness on trying acupuncture. She was very patient and attentive and it wasn't long before she settled my nerves and we tried a few needles. I soon realized there wasn't anything to be afraid of and within hours of treatment I could already feel a difference to my health. Since that first visit, I've gone back to see her several times for different health issues: allergies, blood pressure, anxiety, menopause and gastrointestinal problems. I've been amazed at the results and feel so much healthier and am now a true believer in holistic therapy vs taking medicine, having a bunch of tests run that may or may not give the right answers or being told that surgery is the answer. Yaping is a wonderful acupuncturist and really cares about your health and helping you to feel your best and the environment there is very tranquil. With the gentle music playing, the quiet peace and the heat lamps ( optional), I am transported into a meditative, relaxing state. It's a truly tranquil and positive experience.

I don't often write reviews on Yelp, but after consulting with Dr. Wu a couple of times for old…read moreinjuries left over from my days of competitive tennis, I feel compelled to leave a review. Over the years, as an ex-athlete, I've tried both Western as well as Eastern medicine to keep my body in tip-top shape for competition, and overall health. In my personal experience, Eastern medicine combining chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, and thermal healing has tremendously improved blood circulation as well as promoting accelerated health (think Wolverine healing prowess). While there are merits to Western medicine for certain things, I'm still a firm believer that Eastern medicine is still the most effective. Now onto Dr. Wu. Unlike any chiropractor or acupuncture specialist I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot of different ones over the years, let me tell you), Dr. Wu focuses on the source and root cause of ailments; as opposed to what is PERCEIVED to be the area of discomfort. There's also never any forceful movements. His approach to healing is gentle, not brute force. Think soft-fist technique as opposed to potentially introducing more pain, just to cover up other areas. A lot of other therapists will purposely cause pain elsewhere, so you forget about the originating discomfort; and is a trick to make you THINK they've resolved your problems. That is, until the coming days, when you realize the old problems are still there... Case in point: I've had an annoying golfer's elbow on-and-off for years on end. Even with adequate rest, stretching, proper warm-ups, and strengthening regimen on the side, pain/numbness just would not go away. That is until I consulted Dr. Wu about it. Surprisingly, the culprit was not in the muscles, tendons and ligaments surrounding the elbow itself. Those are just the irritated areas CAUSED by the root problem, kind of like collateral damage. The real problem resided in pressure points in the chest/pectoral area, most likely caused by sleeping positions/patterns and bad habits built up over time; plus repetitive motion during tennis. Over time, this obviously takes a toll, and my body was crying for help. After just a hour-long session with Dr. Wu, my years of frustrating elbow discomfort were purged by 90%. Now of course, there's no such thing as immediate full recovery, since there's scar tissues, etc. and so it'll still take some time to COMPLETELY heal up. But let me tell you this, even after just half a week, I'm able to add another 10-20mph to my serve. I average about 100-110mph serves, and I'm only 5'8" relatively scrawny guy, definitely not a body builder or anything like that. It was my parents that originally introduced me to Dr. Wu after their shoulder, back, and hip pains were relieved, after just one or two sessions. Appointments with Dr. Wu is money well-spent, let me tell you that. That is, if he's not too busy to schedule you in ;) Albeit, I've personally never had any problems with scheduling. He's quite accommodating when it comes to appointments. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Compared to my last acupuncturist, Mr. Lee spent more time with me prior to my treatment. We spoke about my work history, what I do for a living currently, my injury, previous injury treatment and all of my symptoms. He took plenty of time to understand my injury and me prior to treatment, which I really appreciated. After that, it was time for my treatment. After my treatment, I was so calm, relaxed and centered, that it actually confuse me. It's like a I woke up from a deep sleep. I didn't feel this not once, at my last acupuncturist. I am so happy and I have already recommended him to two of my friends. After my treatment, Mr. Lee told me to go take a walk. I went for a walk and then sat in my truck for about 15 minutes. After that, I drove home for about 40 minutes because there was traffic. I was in such a relaxed and centered state, that did not bother me one bit. I already am feeling some relief and can't wait for my next appointment!

I went to see him because of tendinitis in my hands. I was in my mid 30's by then. For years I suffered from what the Western Doctors thought was sick-building syndrome (in the 80s)…read morewhereby it is believed that there are spores in the (typically work) office building HVAC that keep making some people sick. It started within a week of starting a job in Sunnyvale and kept going for years. Every six weeks, like clockwork, I would get a sinus infection which then turned into a cold / flu / whatever that kept me sick for two weeks and out of work for a few days. After seven bouts of this in twelve months, I was getting super depressed and frustrated. I went to ENTs, allergists, all types of Western medical doctors, took all sorts of antibiotics (with their side-effects) and then an acquaintance recommended acupuncture, which saved me (and my sanity). I went to her acupuncturist and I didn't get a cold (or this strange sinus infection - very similar) for almost 18 months. Then I lasted another 15 months before I got a cold. Then my acupuncturist retired and I went to the woman who took over her business. I saw her three times and within two days, all three times, I came down with the two-week sinus condition. Every time. I say "she pushed the right spots, but she pushed them the wrong way". Needless to say, I stopped seeing her. After whining about how miserable I was, my chiropractor recommended Dr. Weiss, who I saw and who saved me from those dreaded sinus infections happening every six weeks and has kept me in such good shape for well over ten years - closer to twenty. No more sinus infections, rarely even a cold, definitely not the flu. I see him every month and get a tune up and I swear by him. He has helped me with headaches, a bad back, IBS, all sorts of aches and pains and ailments over this long time. Some things are resolved and disappear right away and others may take a few treatments, but whatever is going on, he lets me know if he can help or not. Acupuncture works but you need the right person to do it. He is the right one for me, for sure. Everyone I have recommended him to has been very, very happy.
