She ultimately ended up finding me a completely remodeled triplex that will cash flow from Day 1. The appraisal came in low (don't even know how that happens in this market) and she went to work to make sure that I did not have to pay the entire difference, which was an accomplishment given that they had multiple back-up offers they could have chosen to go with. I was linked with Chad through Redfin's partner agent program, and was handed off to Amanda Armstrong, his Buyer's Agent. Initially, I was impressed with the fast response and communication. I wanted to view two homes in Oregon City, both of which had been available for a bit (one just returned to the market), and were less than a minute apart. Redfin makes you pick a tour time, but once Amanda and I had communicated back and forth, I specified that I was available Saturday and Sunday. She sent me an email before our scheduled appointments confirming that one property went pending, but that she'd see me at 3:30 for the first property. I left early because my alerts said there would be bad traffic. It took me over an hour to get to the home, and my cell service was poor once I got there. I arrived about four minutes early. I waited in my car until 3:30, then stood outside thinking she was in her car staying warm and was waiting to spot me. I saw a sign on the front door, walked up to read it, waited ten minutes in the cold, and finally my voicemails and emails were available while checking to see if she was running late due to traffic. She contacted me 43 minutes before the appointment (20 minutes into me driving there) to cancel the appointment because she was hosting a party that night and was stressed because she was running out of time to prepare. 1) I was available all weekend or at another time. You knew you were having a party, so why schedule a showing? 2) 43 minutes before an appointment? 3) Unprofessional. I'm a licensed broker (in property management), with over 9 years in real estate. I am aware that things happen - in personal AND professional life. I'm an understanding person. Emergencies are completely forgivable. I don't engage in buying/selling, but I know many realtors, send referrals to agents consistently offering great communication and expertise for my property management clients. I'm pretty sure their communication skills and professionalism are very important to their business. Therefore, they make commitments they're able to keep and communicate cancelations in advance. I would expect this from any real estate broker. If an agent is this flaky in the showing stages, I wouldn't want to buy a home with their help. Realtors are a dime a dozen, so please do not contact me. Moving on! *This is not a review for Chad. I'm sure he's excellent. I do, however, question the decision to have buyers agents that are this unprofessional.
