Absolutely horrendous and borderline malpractice. My partner has been going here for years and has even referred patients. We became pregnant and it made sense for him to be our OB. We were with him for 1st and 2nd trimester. In that time, the level of care would've been laughable if it so wasn't traumatic. We would wait in the waiting room for, at minimum, 1 hour after our scheduled appointment. We learned to call an hour ahead. We called and they said everything's on time. Got there - waited an hour - and then was told they didn't have bloodwork from the 1st trimester. WE DID THEM THERE IN THE OFFICE. They lost our blood work and then tried to blame her. Dr Mac then came out and said we've been a bad patient - she was crying and he and his staff were teaming up on her berating her and saying she was wrong. Office manager was screaming at her over Dr Mac. We did everything to a T correctly as it's our first pregnancy. (Also worth noting - my partner drove an hour both ways for this and was hit by a truck in her car on her way home) Now some words for you Mac. Listen here pal... every time we've seen you, we've had to remind you of what we have next and why tests haven't been ordered. You come in for 1 minute, fly through an exam, and ask if we need anything - which is when WE had to tell YOU what needs to be done. Typical response was "oh we haven't done that yet?" This was our level of care. You didn't tell her she had a negative blood type which required a Rogam shot every 4 weeks. We missed the first 2 doses because you didn't even know what her blood type was well into the 2nd trimester. You tested her blood sugar and called her A MONTH LATER to tell her she has gestational diabetes and we should go see a dietician. Which, by the way, if ANYTHING is wrong with our baby when it's delivered, you've opened yourself up to litigation. You brought my partner to tears telling her she's a bad patient and we didn't get blood work done. If we hadn't advocated for ourselves and joined groups and forums... we wouldn't have known ANYTHING that needed to be done. We found a new OB at Northwestern they LAUGHED at the paperwork Mac sent over. They literally said "he's seriously still practicing?" Absolutely no organization and they lost all of her blood work that, again, was done IN OFFICE!!! Yet berated a first time pregnant mother into tears for being a "bad patient". You are just a number here. A box to be checked. Get e'm in and get e'm out. Absolutely no accountability or advocation for their patients. I'd recommend a clinic before I'd ever recommend this toxic office. read more

I have been wanting to share some of my prenatal experience with this office for quite some time, but wanted to have or at least attempt to convey a small part of my "care" in an appropriate way. I have never been so uncomfortable in a physicians office-from (some not all) of the front desk staff to the actual doctor. The "office manager" not only was providing test results over the phone (HIPAA) to then discussing politics. The office manager once gave me medical guidance over the phone, only to find out what she relayed to me was the exact opposite of what Dr. McInerney stated during an OB visit Its apparent after listening to this "office manager" (his wife) how much they love trump, hate Illinois and that covid isn't real. I was too far along into my pregnancy to switch providers so figured I would stick it out. The kicker was being ridiculed by the physician, someone you would think would be an advocate for his patients, particularly women given he is an OB/GYN and women are the reason he is still in practice. I had discussed a particular birthing approach with him, along with various options that might be explored in the event I may need or to prevent a C-Section. Being pregnant you get to talking with other patients, usually also pregnant, and I found out that he has a high (in my opinion) C-Section rate. Upon, getting closer to my due date I would be in the office weekly, and at any given appointment, at least 5-6 pregnant or recently pregnant/delivered patients had "required" C-Sections. I don't think there is enough money for me to ever return to this office. The lack of professionalism was astounding. Dr. McInerney was unavailable during my labor and showed up only the last ten minutes of me pushing. I have a history of mental illness; and Dr. McInerney did not do his best to prevent an episode. He only told me during a Very brief (i.e. 10 minute) follow up that if I have any symptoms of depression, that he "needed to know about it." He did not meet with my husband that day or the day after he didn't come see me. He only called. It was a Friday. He didn't come see me. And I had an episode five days later, and was later sent back to the hospital for mania. He was nice during our initial appointments, but doesn't take the time to be a doctor when it is imperative. He doesn't take the time to assess the woman and I feel very neglected. His front desk staff (Jill) is so-so, but is always in a hurry over the phone and sometimes rushes you out the door if you have questions. My Psychiatrist works in the SAME hospital I gave birth in. He blames Dr. McInerney and asked "Why didn't he call me?!!" I needed an Eval. But Dr. Mack didn't set up anything for me. Thus, I was sectioned to the hospital (Psych Dept.), which was not fun. And I missed precious time with my newborn because I was in the hospital due to an OB/Gynecologist, Dr. McInerney's neglect. He should be paying my $2,000 hospital bill. I don't owe him a thing. I did all the hard work myself. I wouldn't trust this doctor. Awards don't mean a thing when you aren't truly there for the person. read more

Staff was rude and didn't know how to talk to people. It was my first appointment and I was beyond nervous. The NP had no clue how to handle how anxious I was. She told me I wouldn't be able to hear the heartbeat since I was only 5 weeks, I was 10 weeks. Ok then she actually couldn't find the heartbeat and sent me for a stat ultrasound to a place that wasn't covered by my insurance. Now I have a $2000 bill. First time meeting the doctor he didn't even sit down to talk to me, he remained standing like he was in a rush. I ended up switching and 100% made the right decision doing so as this practice does not know how to make a patient feel important or comfortable. I went to Dr. McInerney when I found out I was expecting and am so happy with that decision. I always felt so comfortable with him and trusted him throughout my entire pregnancy. He wasn't an over friendly doctor which was nice because he always remained professional and knowledgable. My delivery was a breeze and I don't think I would have had a better experience if I chose a different doctor. I absolutely recommend him to anyone. read more

I am looking to switch my prenatal care from my long time OBGYN in the city. I really love her but need a closer OB. I recently had a full exam, including pap, less than 3 months ago with my previous doctor. I am now pregnant and he insisted he must do his own pap and exam. I politely refused and said I did not want to repeat the pap, particularly in early pregnancy. He proceeded to kick me out of his office. Keep in mind ladies, a doctor works for YOU. This doctor does not respect patient's wishes and I imagine it goes beyond him not getting his way with a pap. Additionally, his website states he has a background in holistic medicine and his Facebook says "Alternative & Holistic Health Services". I do not get this impression from him at all and I believe this is a gimmick. He is clearly arrogant and egotistical. If you want to have a say in your prenatal care, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere! Check out the "filtered" reviews. If I'd read them before my appointment, I would never have gone. read more

Had Dr McInerney as my OB but he was so rude I switched to a midwife 15 miles away in my 30th week. I couldn't believe how judgemental he was in regards to my choices about what I wanted for my son's birth. He even tried to pressure me into getting vaccines I don't agree with by threatening me with my baby's health. I would never EVER recommend anyone to use him. read more

Hands down, the best doctor I've had in my life. He eased any fears I had, highly professional, good bedside manner and I was able to contact him in the off hours when I had a question. He delivered my perfect baby girl with ease. Granted, I had a relatively healthy pregnancy, but I am fully confident that he is so knowledgeable he'd be the guy to see if you have complications as well. I plan on sticking with him for the long haul because I trust him immensely. read more

I switched to Dr. Mac in my third trimester and am soo thankful i did. Long story short, I had a VERY ROUGH labor and was rushed to c-section, i truley believe dr. mac and the nurses at palos saved both my life and my sons. DO NOT go to Dr. McInerney. He only gives great care to pregnant women. He deserves zero stars for his treatment towards me. He always makes you wait over an hour (again, if you're not pregnant), he doesn't apologize - EVER - and then, if you DARE to question or say no to his opinion (because after all, he is a "god," right?) he will cut you down and you will no longer be heard; you will be dismissed. I went in to talk about a cyst. He didn't have any answers to my questions and seemed rushed. He said it could be endometriosis. Then he said, maybe it's PCOS. It asked what was PCOS... he literally stood up, opened the door, and said, "Look it up for yourself." Then he begrudgingly TOSSED a sheet of paper about PCOS without his stupid characteristic, "BYEEE!" DO NOT GO TO HIM IF YOU WANT TO BE HEARD AND MADE TO FEEL LIKE YOU MATTER, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT PREGNANT. Seriously, look at all of the positive posts - they are only from pregnant women! To Mr. McInerney (you don't deserve the title of doctor because you have no bedside manner or empathy), shame on you. I will tell EVERY woman I know how horrible you made me feel. You belittled everything I was concerned about. Your bitter cruelty towards myself and other women with whom you have disregarded with your venomous inhumanity will be heard. read more

Dr. Mac is so amazing. He delivered both my babies and has seen me through my pain over the years with my PCOS. He is very thorough and I trust him 100%! Nurse Susie is great as well!
