I wish I'd been wiser about picking an OBGYN. I wish I'd know I was pregnant a lot sooner, leaving me with more time to pick a wise, caring, and knowledgable person who tried to impart that same knowledge onto me. I wish this person hadn't made me so aware at the lack of concern some doctors have for patients they deem ignorant and of poor backgrounds. From day ONE this OBGYN made sure to make this experience a stressful one. From day ONE she was already writing me down for a c-section. I kept attending every appointment and making sure I did as I was told so that my child was healthy and to avoid a c-section she seemed bent on making me feel that I'd needed. I kept every appointment until the last month, when her staff made appointments FOR ME that I couldn't make because they were MADE FOR ME on times and days I had NO ONE to take me. I was rudely told that I had to accommodate the doctor's availability, as if my time meant nothing. On the last month, the staff and doctor HOUNDED me to attend an appointment I never made. They kept saying that I was missing appointments and that it was imperative that I make it. I only rescheduled that last appointment I NEVER MADE, and it was only because the doctor told me flat out, that if I didn't make it, I'd have a stillborn. That cut deep, especially since this doctor was aware that, when I was 17, I did have a stillborn son. There was absolutely NO REASON to use this scare tactic on me! All throughout my pregnancy my child and I were completely healthy. All tests and ultrasounds pointed out at health and everything going according to plan. There was absolutely NO REASON to tell me anything of the sort. I ended up getting so stressed out from this harassment that day, that my fiance and daughter ended up calling paramedics because I couldn't eat and my sugar dropped, making me feel ill. I became so stressed out thinking the worst, that I ended up going to the E.R. on New Year's Eve because her nasty words echoed in my head. I began fearing that this child would die. I went to the E.R. and was given a clean bill of health that day. My child and I were great, and I would be able to give birth vaginally. I felt better after that, and I decided not to go back, but the harassment persisted. I later found out that the reason she found it IMPERATIVE for me to attend the date THEY WANTED, was because the good doctor had vacation days on the week after it was imperative I go. I'd like to know why it was never imperative for this doctor to take my calls of questions and concerns, instead of ALWAYS telling me to go to the E.R if Iwas so worried? I'd love to know why I had to go without real care for the two months she was dealing with her own personal problems? I know that everyone has life events which can hinder their ability to give their work 100%, but I was never given options to see a colleague or a standby when she was unavailable at her office. I had a life growing inside of me, and I was responsible for that life. If anyone reading this is wondering why I didn't switch doctors, I'd like to add that I TRIED. I asked for my medical records but was told that they could ONLY be released to the next doctor I decided to see. I was told that my records couldn't be released to me, and because I wasn't aware of the law, I believed it! I stuck to this awful person out of ignorance, and she and her staff took advantage of that ignorance. It wasn't until AFTER I was made aware of the law preventing my medical records from being held hostage by manipulative doctors and staff that the persistent calls and feigned concern began. I told them that it was illegal for them to have denied me my records, and they claimed they were just "following protocol". I was never made aware of any protocol, only TOLD that I couldn't have them. During this call, the person in the office got so irritated that she began screaming at me, telling me I was getting defensive, when clearly it was her having the issues. I had multiple people witness this call, and even recorded part of it. Needless to say, I refused any further contact with any of these people. I knew that in order to be given okay care, I had to become my own health advocate, so I decided to give birth somewhere I thought might have a better outcome than the one I thought I'd have under that type of "care". I was wrong, but one can't always have it their way. This year, the medical community did it's job on opening my eyes to just how shady medical care can be if you're not paying close attention and informing yourself. Through their lack of concern and misuse of degrees and titles, they pushed me onto my possible career path. Thank you! Great, great, great doc. And you need one you can trust for those girlie issues. Appointments take forever to get and are always late. But she's worth it and I think this is a trend among OB docs. Her mom and her share an office suite. It's really cute to see them walking around the hospital together :) read more

The only reason I am giving this review 2 stars instead of 1 is because the doctor is GREAT! Very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, it takes forever to get an appointment and when you get there, you are ALWAYS left waiting for at least 30-45mins for your APPOINTMENT. Why did I even make an appointment? What I am highly weighing my review on is the unhelpful and horribly rude secretary that answers calls at the Palos office and takes appointments. She is flat out ignorant and rude to patients and is the sole reason I will NEVER go back to see Dr. Leipold again (after 13yrs). What they need to do is get the secretary to RETIRE and replace her with someone who knows what CUSTOMER SERVICE is about and doesn't already have one foot in the grave! Needless to say, I found an AWESOME gyno nearby without the headache of dealing with an unhappy/rude/grumpy/ignorant/old/upset because she's only a secretary/haggard secretary. I have only been going to Dr. Leipold for a couple of years now. However, I have to say that, every time I have scheduled an appointment and gone into the office, the staff has gone above and beyond to be kind and accommodating. For instance, I had an appointment today for 3:00, and when Emma (at the front desk) called to confirm yesterday, I was able to change it to 2:00. Today, I was even earlier than expected, showing up at 1:15. I was in within 15 minutes. Judy, Dr. Leipold's assistant, was kind, friendly, and welcomed me with a smile. When I mentioned posting on Yelp, Judy was thankful and flattered, saying that it is easy to be happy when working for someone as great as Dr. Leipold. Kudos to the staff here. You make going to the doctor a much more pleasant experience! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Leipold for about 20 years. She has always been extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable. My second child became ill at 5 weeks old (nothing to do with delivery) and she would stop by her hospital room to check on her and myself. She genuinely cares about her patients. Although the office is very busy, she always responds to phoned in concerns in a timely manner. Of all the doctors I have ever went to, I feel most comfortable with her and feel confident in her medical advice/decisions. I wish she was also a general practitioner! read more

Both of my deliveries with this doctor where awful. Rude staff and over an hour wait each time were the least of the problems. I was induced at 38weeks with my first for no reason which I have come to find out is a huge issue. She then had respiratory issues from the pitocin. Dr Leipold flat out sent me to the wrong hospital with my second (a hospital with no NICU) knowing I was only 34 weeks. I had called her at 4am bc my water broke and I was scared and she was blatantly put out by it. My daughter then had to be emergency transferred to a different hospital with a NICU. We had to travel over an hour each way to see my daughter the first week of her life and then had to fight with the insurance company and social workers to get her transferred back to a local hospital which we were previously told would not be an issue. After all of this happened I did not get one call of concern or care from Dr. Leipold. Just a bill a couple weeks later. What a nightmare. I did not know better at the time but left this doctor after her big "mistake" and had my third child with a midwife which was an amazing experience. I actually got to hold him and feed him after I had him which I didn't after my daughters. Any mom knows how important this is. Unless you are going here for routine annual exams, I highly recommend using a different practice at a different hospital. A negative birth experience can weigh on your mind for a long time. I can not say enough about how wonderful and caring Dr. Leipold is as a professional and as a person.. she delivered both of my daughters and I couldn't of asked for a better doctor to have go through that process with. Yes, she has long waits and yes it may take a while to make an appointment but that all comes with having a good doctor. She takes her time asks questions and always makes sure she knows you personally not just as a patient where she's in and out of the room in five minutes. I recently had emergency surgery by Dr. Leipold and she went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right. She checked on me every day while I was in the hospital and called me personally at 8pm to check in to see how I was feeling after I went home. In my opinion that makes up for her so called crabby secretary who answers the phones. If you're looking for quality..I highly recommend Dr. Leipold. read more

Dr. Leipold is a wonderful doctor!! I have been a patient for several years and refer all of my friends and family to her. She is one of those doctors that you will ALWAYS hear from she personally calls me to discuss a prescription that will be called in and talks to me personally about my symptoms NOT a nurse like how some other doctors offices. Dr. Leipold even has called me over a weekend from her home! I have never thought the wait was too terribly long I expect doctors to run behind so I always have a book with me. I schedule my annual in advance so I have a time and date that works for with my schedule and for a problem the office tries their hardest to get you in asap. Dr. Leipold is truly a caring doctor as well as person. I would never be able to see anyone else for my gyne care, and if I ever do have children I know she will be outstanding! read more

Alright Dr. Leipold is the best OB/GYN out there. I have been going to her for years and would never be able to go to another OB/GYN. Appointments take a bit of time but she is worth the wait. I love that she has two office locations which is way more convenient than some other offices. I have never felt rushed during a visit and she always spends more than enough time with me. I actually look forward to my annual exams because she puts you at such ease. If you are looking for a wonderful caring doctor she is the one for you!! read more
