It was so nice to explore on a sunny spring afternoon. This has to be a bird lovers paradise. The Scissortail is the state bird of Oklahoma. It is known for its distinctive black and white tail that seems to open and close like a pair of scissors during flight. Just the tail can grow up to 10 inches. Although I did not see any Scissortails, there were plenty of other birds to spot. Red-winged blackbirds. House finches. Great tailed grackles. Green herons. Great white egrets. And the cutest family of Canada geese with their little gosling babies. Adorable! Don't miss the Skydance Bridge. Also known as the Scissortail Bridge, it is inspired by the courtship dance of the Scissortail birds. The pedestrian bridge crosses over I-40 linking the two sides of the park. There were people reading, picnicking, etc. Honestly, it was a slightly chilly day, but people were enjoying the fresh air. Since the last time I was here they've put in a volleyball area. They've also put up tape so that people can't play on the playground equipment, because COVID-19 can live on playground equipment for up to 3 hours, or so it is believed. It's too bad that it takes a pandemic for people to get out to the park. It's wonderful to see the world restoring itself so quickly as people drive less and tax the world less. I heard so many more birds than normal. That's the silver lining in the pandemic.

This park is quaint and has a playground area with goal posts and a tennis court. There are also benches to sit and watch your kids or to enjoy the peace. While it wasn't what I was looking for, I did use the area to walk around and reached over 1.5 miles from walking the outside area of the park. The lights didn't come on while the sun was going down so they may not work. Be cognizant of that if you plan to walk toward the evening.
