(filling followed by pulpitis followed by root canal followed by extraction and then a very painful stitch job that drove me up the wall. It was my first and only cavity at the time and I had nothing else to compare it to. The dentist also talked me into some questionable procedures that did not turn out so well. I also had a very nasty phone call when I had to miss an appointment because I woke up sick that day and called to cancel. This dentist also refused to send records to Dr. Frenkel. When I started going to Dr. Frenkel, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the office, the modern equipment and the competency of the staff. I only needed cleanings for a year or two (I go every 4 months) but then X-Rays showed I needed 3 fillings. I was terrified. However, I was in and out in an hour, the procedure was painless, and it has been a couple of weeks and the composite fillings (which you can't see, the teeth look the same to me) have given me no pain or discomfort and the temperature sensitivity completely disappeared. I highly recommend Dr. Frenkel and only wish I had started seeing him sooner. Also, he is a Marvel Comics and science fiction fan and is a pleasure to talk to. Highly recommended, especially for people who are anxious about dentists.

I am giving Dr. Shah's Ringwood Family Dental five stars because of the root canal he performed on…read moremy teeth on Thursday (December 27, 2018). I was in a lot of discomfort prior to the procedure, and I was a little apprehensive because I had root canal previously. I knew that it could be painful. However, Dr. Shah made sure that I expressed little to no pain. Even when he had to give me the needle he made sure there was very little discomfort (slightly shaking the skin prior to inserting the needle). He explained in detail everything he was planning to do, and most importantly, he applied pain medication to the root as it was exposed via the drilling. Accordingly, the level of pain/discomfort I experienced was minimal (a slight sharp pain, which he quickly addressed). As I previously stated, I was familiar with the procedure, and I was treated well by the dentist who was responsible for that root canal (limited discomfort and limited pain). However, my overall experience now warranted "one star" more than my previous experience. I was in significant pain/discomfort prior to this procedure, and I'm feeling a lot better now even thought I have to go back for additional work (temporary filling has to be replaced with a permanent crown).

Also I came in to do a routine small filling and right before we started she told me it may become a root canal and she won't know until she "gets in there." I told her to forget it I'm not doing the filling because I don't want to end up having a random root canal when I was just in for a basic filling. She gave me a pretty harsh attitude about it and all but yelled at me on my way out the door. Even with all of that, I decided to give them another chance and just scheduled a cleaning and they booked me but then called me back an hour later telling me they wouldn't give me a regular cleaning, that I had to do a deep cleaning for $247. I said I don't want or need that, but they said that they would not do a regular cleaning for me, only a deep cleaning. I find that this sounds a bit scammy and that they're trying to get more money out of me for higher services. This is a known way that unethical dentists operate in order to upgrade services for more money. That's just what it looks like to me. A quick Google search as per the picture included shows that this is a common thing that is happening more and more. Would love to find an ethical business in the medical industry. It's unfortunate that more and more are operating like used car salesman and mechanics.

However, I've been very happy with Dr. Li. The Achilles Heel in my family has been teeth and I'm no exception. With lots of work done on my teeth over the years, I tend to take a conservative approach and am very comfortable that Dr. Li works with me in that regard. Dr. Li, and the entire office, are competent and pleasant. I kid that I go there to relax. I highly recommend Dr. Li and her office.
