I've heard great things about their childcare and how nice it is for families. The facility is kept clean and everyone is friendly. There were a lot of unsupervised children while we were there, which is annoying. It's not the staff's fault but it would be nice to be able to use the equipment without kids running into you or cutting you off. A kid also kicked a water bottle from the top floor and almost hit a mother walking with her baby below. It seemed chaotic but it was still fun. I'd love going for an adult only time if that was a thing.

The programming and coaching at Waukee is top-notch. Coaches take time to get to know the members and coach them on proper technique and member's goals. The programming is constantly varied, challenging, and can always be scaled to an individual's fitness level. The community at Waukee is what sets this box apart from others. I've visited several boxes, and while I have enjoyed every single community, this one is a group of real people who Crossfit. Every member is friendly, welcoming of new faces, and genuinely wants to get to know and help others. I used to be intimidated by partner WODs (workout of the day in CF speak), because I'm not the best athlete, and there hasn't been a single time at Waukee that I haven't been asked to be someone's partner almost immediately. The coaches are top-notch and are willing to work with everyone. The facilities are the best in the area. There are numerous classes throughout the week to accommodate most schedules. Everyone at the gym is amazing and friendly and willing to work with new people. If you're interested in jiu-jitsu, I cannot recommend DMJJA enough. ADDITIONAL: I wanted to add that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an excellent form of exercise that also has been shown to be an effective form of self defense. The academy has adult classes every day but Thursday for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and recently increased the number of kids' classes during the week. The gym also has Muay Thai kickboxing and a modest MMA program. Yoga was also recently added to the schedule two to three times per week. The academy caters to athletes of any level, from straight-off-the-couch to expert martial artists. The academy also has a weight lifting / cardio room for members to use during the hours the academy is open. I seriously cannot recommend this gym more. It is amazing and I feel like anyone would enjoy and benefit from classes provided.
