When i originally decided to go with her over a century 21 realtor i really had a good feeling about her because she seemed to have a really good knowledge of how things worked and i really felt she was the perfect one for the job.. she seemed to the point and very professional for the first couple of weeks and i cant say i had any complaints with her. However, a few things happened towards the beginning that really gave me a bad taste in my mouth with her: 1. She claimed she didnt want to pay to have professional pictures taken of my house because she couldnt justify the cost of doing so because she felt that i was not giving her enough time to adequately list house. That was fine with me, i would pay for them, so i told her to set up for the photographer to come. before he came i asked her for his contact info because i had questions i wanted to ask (does he do touch ups, what are his rates..etc) she all but refused to give me his info and told me to ask her and she was ask him. almost like she didnt want me speaking with him directly which was a bit shady but i didnt press it. when the photographer came to my house he was very professional and thorough and took such beautiful pictures! i asked him at the end what his price was fully intending to pay him right there..however he refused to tell me and told me to go through valerie. i didnt understand this.. why am i asking her when im the one paying? it made no sense to me and gave me the initial impression that perhaps they were trying to con me as far as price went? otherwise why not just be upfront with me on the cost? seemed so shady 2. i was very clear with valerie when hiring her and told her i needed at least 2-4 hours notice before a showing ( because i was still living in the house and had a small child and needed adequate time so that i could vacate for viewings) on MULTIPLE occasions she would message me sometimes saying a agent was in the neighborhood and wanted to see the house right then. NO NOTICE. at one point i had to kick an entire party out of my house that i was hosting so i could accommodate a viewing with NO NOTICE. she kept doing this to me despite me telling her many times i was NOT ok with it! then when id tell her my reasoning she made the comment, " well do you want to sell your house or not" i felt bullied by her so many times, like she was using my desperation to sell my house as a tool to manipulate me into going against our original agreement of 2-4hour notice. valerie was BEYOND rude to me. Many times treating me like she was doing me a favor by doing her job when i was going to be paying her thousands in closing for fees. shed ignore my calls and texts and often a week or more would go by and id hear nothing from her. when i confronted her and told her i was feeling like she had no time for me and that i didnt like how things were going she responded with, "well if you want a realtor with no clients who has all the time to deal with you at a moments notice just let me know" i tried so many times to give her chances to no avail. for this reason i fired her and decided to take my business elsewhere. she may be a great realtor to other people but she was absolutely terrible to me. March 2005, several men showed up at my residence stating they came to install my new complete HVAC…read moresystem that I thought was being installed by Benchmark. My contact with Benchmark was not on-site with the men nor did he call ahead to give me the names or description of the people he had sent out. A loud bell or horn should have gone off in my head at that time. Nevertheless, I mistakenly assumed the men were actual employees of Benchmark, which obviously was not the case as I would much later learned. My contact with Benchmark showed up later to conduct a visual inspection after the installation. Initially it seemed the men did a good job with the install even though one of the guys talked on his cellphone during the entire process. Fast forward 5 months later, my A/C went out. The contact with Benchmark that I dealt with was notified and attempted to place the cause of the issue elsewhere despite the fact he NEVER EVER determined the real issue. After requesting a well known HVAC repair company to come out to repair the unit at Benchmark's suggestion, the technician discovered that the guys Benchmark sent out incorrectly wired the furnace board and as a result it burned out. Prior to the actual cause diagnosis, I'd tried to reach back out to my contact with Benchmark at the suggestion of the other HVAC repair company because the unit and parts were still under warranty and therefore should be repaired by Benchmark at no cost to me . My Benchmark contact failed to respond back to me. Now in my mind I'm thinking the "motely looking crew" that Benchmark sent out to install my unit were possibly not certified at all nor their employees. In the end I had to pay for their mistake. I should have heard the lst loud bell or horn in my head when I told the Benchmark contact that I was putting money down on the new unit which was being financed. If I may point out, a down payment was definitely not required whatsoever, but I opted to do so anyway. Before the install, the Benchmark contact on several occasions mentioned getting the "down payment money" in advance of the installation, but would immediately follow up with, "there's no rush". Then he mentioned the money again in yet another phone call and went on to state that he had to pay his guys, but yet the unit had not been installed and was scheduled for installation in a couple of days. I immediately went to the bank, collected the cash and paid him. In conclusion, I'm sure the Benchmark contact I dealt with is a certified HVAC technician. The "shady looking" crew he sent to install my unit obviously were not. I can personally attest that Benchmark does not stand behind their work. Even thought the Benchmark contract repeatedly attempted to shift blame regarding the issues with my unit elsewhere, in the end it was proved that Benchmark's subcontractors caused the problem. I was pleased with what I paid for the complete unit through Alabama Power. I was also satisfied with the quality of the unit as Goodman is a good brand based on my personal research and the fact that most neighborhoods in nearby subdivisions have them. My issues only lies with Benchmark. I will never use them again nor will I refer Benchmark or the contact that I dealt with to anyone.
