Quality/Quantity - So sad, only one of my pictures got uploaded. The struggles of traveling while having minimum access to Wi-Fi or cellular data... Good news, I was able to recover 8 more pictures, but the bad news is that it still does not do this place justice... Sorry. Huge locations, many floors. Unfortunately, I did not have cellular or Wi-Fi and was not able to book my tour and reservations early! Highly suggested for you to book early! We were NOT even able to get in the bar and have a drink, I was so sad. Lots of options to buy, my wife bought me a set of etched Glencairn glasses against my will. I have so many already. Well, none from Scotland. :) I appreciate the gesture. Atmosphere - Huge locations, sadly for me, I was only able to visit the main floor and take a short peek at one of the tour displays. Service - 6 stars, the team member felt bad for me, so gave us a short private tour. See the few pictures that got uploaded. She even tried to squeeze me into the bar so I could get a drink or two, but they were just too busy. I appreciate her efforts, 6 stars!! They also have tastings on specific days and times in the main shopping area, see picture. Price - See picture and website for prices. Not sure what my wife bought or how much she spent. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success for 200+ years! Even with such a huge facility, your demand outpaces your space. I will be more organized on my next visit and MAKE sure I have reservations. See you soon! For now I will just have to drink my Blue Label at home.

Not gonna lie: I thought this was going to be gimmicky, but this tour was a highlight of our trip! Johnnie Walker is immersive for all your senses and highly engaging. It's for newbies and lovers of whisky alike; you're bound to learn something new. We were in a small group of 6 (walked in and booked 20 mins before) and had a fanstastic time! It was £30/each for the 90 minute Journey of Flavour tour which included 3 whisky drinks. The first drink is based on a questionnaire you take of your flavor profile preferences (Ex: fruity, fresh, smoky, creamy, spicy, tropical). The next two drinks you'll get to pick at the end in the tasting room. Just a warning though- you have about 15-20 minutes at the end of the tour to select and finish those drinks so you may walk out less steady than you walked in!

My wife and I did the chocolate and whiskey tasting. It was so good. Our guide Rory was fantastic. Had lots of information for us and explained all the different taste nots and information about each whiskey. It was a great time.

Fun introduction to the world of whisky. The tour invites you to take a quick taste quiz to customize your experience; the tour includes cocktails which are made according to your flavor preferences which is fun and unique. The tour of course includes the history of how JW was founded with a theatrical and unique twist. Since I live in Sonoma wine country, I also appreciate the educational component which speaks to the various regions where whisky is produced in Scotland and the flavor profiles created by the region / environment. This is a cocktail experience so if you're looking for a straight whisky tasting, be proactive at the final stop on the tour as you can swap out one cocktail for a sample of whisky. I wasn't aware of this option so was sad to learn I could not experience a pure sample. Overall fun experience and I recommend to those who wish to have a whisky tasting with a touch of theater.

The bar is beautiful however unless you're a whisky aficionado it very much reminds me of any hotel bar I've been in. France Unfortunately because of the lighting at night reflecting off the glass, you can't see the stunning views of the castle unless you brave the patio, which is not heated. I found the place quite sterile and priced for tourists, but if you're into whisky, this is a 5 Star place

Incredible experience! Johnnie Walker manages to take your senses to new heightened levels. The sites, tastes and smells are all wonderful. We were fortunate to get a reservation for drinks and appetizers at the top and it did not disappoint. The views didn't hurt either!! So fun and this store just showed us how diverse JW is and how many delicious scotch variations they've produced!

We visited the rooftop restaurant/bar, where we had a round of cocktails. Everyone in our group really enjoyed their drink. I had the peach + thyme, which was really refreshing. I'm not a scotch drinker but it was such a smooth drink. I would highly recommend for the views alone. Our service was good, and we had no complaints.

Wow- this was everything we hoped it would be and more! Paula was knowledgeable as they come and an absolute delight- her smile is infectious! It would be WELL worth it to call and request her tour beforehand. We did the Whiskey Journey and loved fitting in a tasting into a small period of time. Had we been in town longer, the history tour would be the top of our list. 1820 Room before or after is a must! Note: the gift shop does not ship but you may of course ship items yourself at the local post office. Plan for more time to arrive than you expect. Our car did not arrive and Ubers are spotty, even in the middle of town, even if you choose Exec/Black Car. We were 20 min late, too late to do our original tour time, and by pure luck they were able to accommodate us at the later tour! They typically sell out so do not count on such grace.

Very impressive store right in the heart of the city. It is right in the middle of the bus line and the train line in front of the Waldorf Hotel. Very close walking proximity to the tourist sites so don't miss stopping in this store if you get a chance. I was greeted by a friendly Scotsman and he gave me a whisky 101 short learning session and a few samples. If you want to go for the extensive sampling tour, you have to book ahead. This establishment is several floors high. The first floor is their retail front. You will see all kinds of Johnnie Walker flagships and seasonal offerings. There was also a special section and all the other private labels owned by the same Diageo company. If you are in Scotland you should try to learn a thing or two about whisky especially the single malt ones that seem to be the vast majority's favorite. Sante!!

We stopped by the 1820 rooftop on a Friday evening with no reservations. They were able to send us up and had us seated right away. The outdoor patio was closed due to the rain; however, you could still step outside to see the beautiful view of the city. We tried several whiskies and blends but my favorite is the Umami blue label. Incredible flavor and so damn smooth. The customer service was outstanding and the rooftop views were unbeatable. Will definitely be back to do their whiskey tour!

We had 10 people in our group do the tasting/tour and then eat at the restaurant upstairs. The tour was fun and Georgia did a great job of telling the history of Johnnie Walker while Rory was a fantastic host. The drinks on the second floor were really well done. My only complaint is you can not have the same hi-balls/old fashioned at the restaurant that you have on the tour. Our food and service was great at dinner and the views from the balcony of Edinburgh Castle were very memorable. Overall a wonderful time.

This tour was so much fun! When I first bought tickets online it had my husband and I complete a flavor profile quiz. I got tropical, but my husband got Smokey When we arrived, we were in a group with one other couple and a huge bachelor party. They ended up being such a great time. I can't for the life of me remember my tour guide's name I think it might've been Lorna. She was a young sweet girl with glasses and she was so fun and enthusiastic. This experience was wild, it started off with a stage show, then a machine made us drinks according to our flavor profiles, all while we learned the history and process of Johnnie Walker spirits. If you're ever in Edinburgh this is a MUST DO experience. And when you're done be sure to go to their rooftop bar for a cocktail and amazing views of the castle.

    Bridget H.

I can't recommend this experience enough! I didn't think I would do this experience, but I'm glad I did! I did the 1.5 hour tour that was £30. It was worth every penny! Naomi was my tour guide and she was so nice, excited, and knowledgeable about Johnnie Walker. This is a state of the art tour that is practically a choreographed light show and storytelling of Johnnie Walker. It is a once and a lifetime tour. It's really like Malt Disney. You also get three full size cocktails on this tour that are catered exactly to your personal tastes. I'm glad I went on this tour!

In addition to a decent selection of craft beers, there's a hefty cocktail menu. I tried the Ginger Tom Collins & it hit the spot. Just the right amount of ginger to pack a punch but not enough to be overpowering. The OH had a pint of draft beer & seemed happy enough. The low ceiling means it gets noisy even if it's not packed. There was a stag do, 2 birthday parties and hen group as well as some other folks. It was only just possible to hold a convo at normal volume & be heard. There's a decent sized courtyard out the back too but it was too wet & cold to try it out. I'd definitely visit again but maybe on a week night when it might be a little less noisy.

Our choices were truly delicious. We started with the fish board, olives, and mushroom skewer. We loved them all. I enjoyed the cod main dish, while my wife finished the starters. The side of asparagus was also excellent. The mouse dessert was delicious but very rich, it's enough for 4 people. The cost of dinner was also totally reasonable. I recommend this place highly.

I'm not used to seeing it in blocks and our end time was bolded but not the start time. We showed up at the end time. We were charged obviously because you have to give a card for a guarantee. I get that. I was fine with it since it was my fault. What I wasn't fine with was the rude (dare I say bitchy?) hostess who I spoke with upon arriving. She was awful to me and looked at me like I was garbage. Even after that, I decided to rebook and pay attention to the time. The restaurant had been recommended to us by a relative as the "best place they had eaten" while in Edinburgh and I wanted to try it. I booked for lunch and when we arrived the male host was lovely. We were sat early (because I always show up to a reservation early) and then we waited almost a half an hour for the one waitress there to come and help. It was fine. I can understand they are understaffed and busy. But then the food, it was also just fine. It was decent but not great. Like a lot of things in the UK, it's understated and seasoned. My husband had the pappardelle and my two children and I had the flat iron steak. His pasta had zero flavor. It was a cream based sauce. It needed more salt. As for the steak, it was fine. It was cooked well. Mine was medium rare and the kids both had medium. It was also not seasoned well. However the steak was served with a dipping sauce (a garlic sauce, a peppercorn or lemon mint). We tried all three since we had three steaks and those were all good and kept the steak from being bland. On the plate were chips (fries), which were not salted well but we had the dipping sauces. Also on the plate was plain arugula and a couple on the vine cherry tomatoes. Nothing spectacular. The waitress didn't come back once the entire time we were eating. Overall, it just wasn't worth it for the money we paid.

A quick Google search later, we decided to add this to our "must visit while in Edinburgh" list. This wasn't our anniversary restaurant, of course, but we knew we needed to dine here at least once. It was a long walk from our hotel, but it was a nice way to see parts of the city that we wouldn't normally have gotten to. The restaurant itself is nestled in the basement (or downstairs) of a cute building. It's small in there, but they're very good at maximizing the space they're given. We settled in at a teeny-tiny table off to the side and swiftly ordered a couple of pints. The menu is very straightforward: you're either getting a meat and cheese plate, just a cheese plate, or pates. We decided to share the Mixed Meat & Cheese platter. We figured that we'd snack and drink some Scottish beer, then head off into the night to find our "real" dinner. Thing is, though, that combo platter filled us the heck up. The waitress came out with the meat and cheese plate and a box of bread, oatcakes and crackers, and my husband and I had a "where is all this going?" moment. But our pro-waitress dropped the plate on the table and popped the bread box into a shelf on the wall next to us - a shelf that neither of us ever even noticed, to be honest. The meat and cheese selections were delicious and paired really well together. Kind of hidden away on that shelf (holding the bread and oatcakes) were a couple chutney jars. That chutney - lots of fruit pieces and complex flavors - brought a lot to the cheeses. We really did love the food, the surroundings, the beer and the staff. I wish we had something like this back home.

The service was absolutely welcoming. The bartenders were friendly and attentive, and even at 9p, mid week (when you might expect things to be winding down), the place was comfortably busy but not packed, but full enough to feel alive. Drinks menus came in little "confidential" envelopes, which instantly added to the fun. We ordered several cocktails that evening, and every drink was carefully crafted and flavorful, smooth and topped off with warm hospitality. I honestly did not have one bad cocktail. Besides the fact that both were into motorcycles (and one came to Edinburgh once and immediately backed up his bags and moved over from Italy - props), we found out that they could make a mean cocktail. We, of course, started on menu, but wanted to see if they could do any variations, which they not only did, but nailed: "do you like bitter or sweet" - bitter "Floral or not so much" - surprise me "base?" - gin Dunno what it was called, but it was one of the nicest gin drinks I had in a town that is crazy for gin at the moment.
