I've been dealing with Birdie Golf and Johnny for about 6 years (buying clubs, balls, gloves, grips, and got a few quick tips) and have nothing but positive experiences. Went in to look at a hybrid a couple days ago ... Thy wanted me to try out this one club .... I did and hit it okay on the simulator.... When they handed it to me it had a 250 dollar price tag on it .... They said they would give it to me at $139 .. I've been a professional to myself for years. I'm extremely well-versed in equipment. I went down to Johnny's and spoke to Johnny himself and the man was extremely arrogant and rude and then when I ask him questions about golf clubs, he's telling me that I'm lying. He's getting aggravated saying he knows everything about golf clubs this and that yet he couldn't answer my basic questions about Japanese golf clubs. And then he continues to belittle and be condescending. I would never ever recommend this shop to go buy golf equipment. Normally, I believe in supporting local mom and pops businesses, but again I'm a local professional myself, and I had heard some horror stories about this place, but I actually experienced the first hand myself. read more

Was interested in purchasing a staff bag but could not get a price as Johnny was not on site. Great selection but I think negotiating on a final price is / has to be part of the experience as pricing was a little shocking for some vintage clubs (Orginal Callaway Warbird Fairway woods). I've been struggling with consistent ball contact partly due to my clubs not being the right size. I decided to go see Johnny's store and see if they could help me. I explained my situation to the staff and they began immediately working with me. They measured me for clubs and analyzed my swing with their state of the art computerized swing trainer. Johnny found me a really nice used set of clubs, he lengthened them for me and even put on free grips because I am a veteran. I took the clubs out today for nine holes and played much better than I ever have hitting 6 greens in regulation. I am very happy with my experience and will definitely recommend these guys to anyone looking to improve their game! read more

So if you're thinking of getting into Golf, returning to Golf, I highly recommend Johnny's. They were pleasant, thorough and listen to my every need. They took me back and let me try the equipment, compare the equipment and spend as much time as I needed to make a decision that I was comfortable with. They even gave me some suggestions and instructions on my swing. They have a great policy. I needed some adjustments and they handled my issue with kindness, extremely fair, and right on the spot. I had purchased my Taylor Made Sims 2 Max Driver directly through TaylorMade. I made a warranty claim through TaylorMade and they gave me the option of taking it to Johnny's Birdie Golf for confirmation that the Driver had a loose part and was chipped. Upon entry to the store, I asked the cashier who did I need to speak to about my warranty claim. At that point, the owner (Johnny) began questioning my claim in a loud and aggressive manner. He accused me of tampering with the club and blamed the defects on me. This was not true and I refused to back down. I called him on his demeanor and indicated that I was only following directions from TaylorMade. I then provided Johnny with the e-mail from TaylorMade, which included the warranty claim number. I then provided him with the telephone number for TaylorMade. He refused to speak to them in my presence and indicated that he would tell them that I was responsible for the defect in the club, which wasn't true. After keeping me waiting for 15 minutes, he returned and provided me with a new club without any explanation or apology. This was my only bad experience at this shop. Perhaps it was an off day for Johnny (we all have them), but at the least, he could have either apologized (I didn't get the sense that this was something that would occur to him) or at least soften his tone. He didn't do either of these things and only replaced the club at the direction of TaylorMade. In the future, I will take my business to other golf shops which are more professional. Johnny needs to learn that in a service industry, you do not become successful by being a jerk. read more

Bizarre, concerning experience with the owner, Johnny, after a mistake with a TaylorMade order - a club we were told would be in the set was missing. We picked up the set after being told they would find out what happened to the missing club and heard the phone discussion between the salesman and owner about checking the dumpster to see if the club had been thrown out with the box. Three days later I got a call from the salesman saying there had been a mistake and I could purchase the club at 30% off costing me an additional $200+. I wasn't satisfied and I asked if there had been any other options discussed. The salesman, who had told me he was a TaylorMade Rep (later, in his anger, Johnny said this man was not a Rep) then told me I could return the clubs for a refund. When I said ok, a livid Johnny, was instantly on the phone ranting - asking if I had ever made a mistake, saying my husband and I are perfect, and asking if I was Jesus Christ? Repeatedly. Shocking. I am a retired, older woman from The Villages. When I asked him if I could speak without being constantly interrupted, Johnny shouted NO. He refused to credit my credit card (said it was bad for his account) but finally agreed to write me a check so he no longer had to deal with me. After reading on Yelp about his aggressive manner with another customer, I was concerned about returning to the store, but, my husband and I did so when others were present. Johnny was there but never spoke to us. I shared this experience with TaylorMade. They were kind, concerned and professional and made it right for me after learning of this experience. The exact opposite of what I experienced with Johnny Birdie Golf. This was the first time we had been to this store and will never return. I do want to add we ended up at this store after shopping for this TaylorMade set at 3 other golf shops. We only stopped there to get a new club grip. When the salesman told us he was a TaylorMade Rep we talked with him about the set. He was helpful and we thought we were in good hands. But, when the owner got involved, we knew we had made a mistake. Never again. read more

Went in to look for club head covers, only 2 or 3 customers inside. Was told to go to the back of store to see what they had and was then totally ignored. The sales guys were too engrossed in their conversation to bother with a mere woman, I guess. After about 10. Minutes, When I saw that they were not going to ask if I needed help or had questions, I decided to leave. Sales man didn't even say goodbye or ask if he could help. I won't go back there. read more

I went in for a new glove I was with my two year old daughter, the owner Johnny saw us and said "give me five minutes" when he came back he had made a putter for my daughter! Employee encouraged me to hit the used driver I was eying so I did. I inquired what he'd take for it because it wasn't marked. He responded & I accepted. He handed it to the owner & told him the price. The owner reneged. He said he'd sell it to me for $50.00 more. The owner didn't have his employees back so I won't be back. read more

Staff will tell you a sale is still on when you make a call to check and when you drive there, they tell you the sale is over regardless what the staff told you on the phone. Female sales person is condescending and has a patronizing superiority personality.......I will not buy a single golf tee in the future. read more
