This is a very nice local "Main Street" barbershop in Lee's Summit. I was able to call and get an appointment quickly. The barber who cut my hair also gave me his card with a link to book online next time. I got a full shave and a nice cut and he took Venmo. Super slick all around. I may have found another business I will instantly recommend to anyone. After growing my beard and hair out for the last 7 months, my wife and her entire family felt the need to inform me that I look like a vagabond. Not wanting to risk my beard on a chain hair cutting place, I sought out a barber. I was unaware John's is by appointment only, but they managed to fit me in. The haircut was fine. I would've been able to enjoy it more if it weren't for the poor bedside manner of my barber, Conrad. He was dismissive and a bit snarky when discussing the cut. Nothing better than a good barber shop. John's is a perfect example of that. I have had about a dozen cuts here from all three guys and all of them have been great. The weekends can be a bit busy so plan to wait around. They often offer coffee and have ESPN on the TV. A bit of a wait for a good cut for $16 is well worth it. read more

I haven't been to John's Barber Shop in a while because I live in Los Angeles now, but I started getting my haircut here in probably around the time I was born in 1977. It's still my gold standard in barber shops (I HAVE had my haircut there in the last 5 years). Part of that is probably nostalgia, sure, but it's a great spot in downtown Lee's Summit that feels classic but not old. Everyone's always warm and friendly whether it's John, Jim, John's son who's name escapes me, or whoever. Also, you get a good haircut. My best advice is to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds and I believe it's cash only. read more

An excellent barber-shop. I have only ever had Nick cut my hair here, and he's a real stand-up guy. He'll give you a great cut for a much better price than you'll pay at a fancy unisex salon, and better conversation too. John's is right in the heart of Downtown Lee's Summit, and seems to be the hub of activity for the town. You can hit up the farmer's market, then swing in to get a haircut before you head over to Maggie's or Neighborhood Cafe just around the corner for a bite. The only reason I don't give John's 5 stars is because I'm not a big fan of the TV's in the shop. But that's just my preference. read more
