I cannot recommend John's Driving School highly enough! We had a fantastic experience from start to finish. My 17-year-old son is naturally extra cautious and was very anxious about getting behind the wheel. However, the trainers here are truly exceptional at what they do. They created an environment where he felt completely comfortable and, more importantly, confident. A special, heartfelt thanks goes to Bill Watkins. Bill was his instructor several times and was absolutely instrumental in his success. He managed to push my son's confidence and self-esteem through pure kindness and compassion. It takes a special kind of teacher to understand an anxious student, and Bill nailed it. The entire team is extremely professional and supportive. I truly have them to thank for my son passing his driving test! My license expired in Florida before I moved back to PA. Per DMV, I had to go through the process. 1 hour wait to take driving exam, with only 1 employee performing driving tests. The evaluator said others were in building to help him, but only when backed up. I thought an hour wait qualified as "backed up", but what do I know. Evaluator was professional, friendly and helpful, and represented the company well. read more

Lessons were fantastic. The way they test is ridiculous. Won't even allow you to get out of the lot if you don't parallel park immediately. Not only do you need to be proper space from the curb, but you also must be close enough that you're in a line and in cones that I was lucky enough to be able to even see them because if you are in a car bigger than their test vehicle they are near impossible to directly see with your eyes looking back. read more

John's did an excellent job in preparing my son for his test. They trained him on various driving scenarios he will come across and they were very thorough in discussing the rules of the road. They also gave him his driving exam and he felt very confident after getting his lessons from John's. Terrible--do not even waste your time. I called multiple times to confirm that 1) they would be able to pick me up and drop me off as stated on their website, and 2) they changed their times and stories several times after the payment had gone through. When I kindly requested a refund or offered to accommodate by meeting the instructor somewhere, the person on the phone hung up on me. TERRIBLE customer service, rude for no reason. I chose John's driving school for my daughter after looking at all the other schools in the region. All of the instructors were pleasant and patient with her. She felt comfortable with them, that was most important for me. I was sent a review of her lessons with them. I appreciated that. On the day of her test, which was also with John's driving school she aced it. Thank you so much for giving her the tools she needed to become a safe driver. read more

I would not recommend taking your child here for the driving test. I paid $100 and took the day off of work to have her take her test. The test was literally 5 minutes and she didn't even get to leave the parking lot. He failed her based on her parallel parking. I was in the parking lot and watched her park and I thought she did amazing and I was so proud. Next thing you know, he has her park and get out of the car and said she failed. Apparently, you not only need to park between the cones, but you have to park within a white line that we were unaware of. I feel like you would only know that if you took lessons there. This place is a rip off and I would not recommend to anyone. read more

I purchased the three 2-hour lesson package for my teenage son. It was worth every penny. The young woman who made the appointments was extremely courteous, helpful, and very informative. My son had all of his driving lessons with Joe, who was EXCELLENT! He had really helpful driving tips, immense patience, and made the entire learning to drive experience enjoyable. I was not satisfied with paying $700 and my daughter NOT being prepared for the driving exam. What is the point of paying for lessons if they don't properly prepare you for a simple exam? Then they want to charge you another $100 to retake the test. This is not a one star review because I'm mad, this is a one star review because I didn't get the service I paid for and $700 is a lot of money to burn. Awful service, my son failed his test for not being at stop sign for "3 seconds" when he had clearly performed everything more than correctly. His friend had the same complaint in the same exact spot with the same examiner, absolutely unacceptable to not give him his license after he did everything more than correctly. Keep in mind I had to pay 100 dollars for this test, extremely impatient and arrogant examiners both Times my son took the test, just awful. read more

I am so glad I chose John's Driving School! I was a very nervous, overly anxious, first-time adult driver. Because of this, I took 15 lessons with John's. My instructors were Joe and Bill, and from the very first lesson, both really helped me calm down when I was behind the wheel. I gained a lot of confidence with my driving, and felt really prepared when I took the test. And bonus, I passed on the first try! Please avoid this place at all costs. I took driving lessons and the test here. I paid for 3 lessons and the exam. As soon as the first lesson started 15 minutes late before I even got behind the wheel the instructor told me I wouldn't be ready for the test in 3 lessons as a way to get more lessons. That was the first red flag to me, I feel the first instructor just wanted me to get more lessons before I even started. The second instructor bill was fantastic, I really wish I would have had him the entire time. The third instructor was okay, he was nice to talk to but for my third lesson I only did 30 minutes of driving and he showed up 15 minutes late too. The worst part was my driving exam, the examiner was very aggressive and rude to me before we even started. I felt very uncomfortable in a car with him and I really wanted to get away from him. I jumped the curb when parallel parking and that's on me. He then got even more aggressive he forced me to watch him put in that I failed the test before I could get out the car. I couldn't wait to get away from this guy. I legit ran out the car and jumped in my rides car and asked them to get us out of here. I forgot they had my permit and the examiner yelled at me to go get my permit off them. I follow him into the building and I get to the counter and ask for my permit back, he gets in my face and starts yelling about how my issue is with him. So he acknowledged my discomfort with him. He yells at me to take a seat. I stood there got my permit and left. I called today and explained everything from my point of view to a manager, I was told that I was the issue and that the instructors and examiners were fantastic, she started to call me a liar and I hung up. Highly recommend Johns driving! Used them for lessons with both of my kids and they both passed their tests first time with ease!

No beef against the company but they need better screening on their instructors. I unfortunately got assigned to one of the most disagreeable instructors ever (he's the only guy around for that part of summer, guess he planned this lest he would have zero students), even their own employee admitted it. I paid for 5 lessons, it started with me being impressed at how harsh and strict my instructor was on day 1 to filing a complaint about him on his verbal abuse on day 4. (Of course he challenged me to say it to his face on day 5 and I did, then he basically said he gives up on me. Wasted my f-ing money. I am extremely furious in those last two lessons.) He showed clear distain of me for suggesting that I might use Google Maps to navigate instead of remembering the streets we've taken. He yelled at me for 15 F-ing minutes because I parked in front of my own building before looking at the roadside signs, even though he repeatedly park in the same spot (and worse spots), and all the other cars park there all the time. It's a solid white line for god's sake. "You shouldn't learn from me, you need to learn from the SIGNS!!!" Yeah right ass****. This old dude almost got into a fight because he blocked the parking entrance of my building... Think about the hypocrisy to yell at me to do things that he can't even do himself, and he TEACHES driving for a living. (Plenty more examples, I don't bother to exhaust them.) His unpredictable expectations and old man temper is nothing a regular driving student deserves to go through. This power keg of a man just need a whisper of syllable from your mouth to explode into a rage monster for tens of minutes nonstop. As a young professional, I tried to not take it personally and be humble and struggled to justify his words in every possible way. But no, it's verbal abuse, period, he's not doing it for my good, he's using me as a rage discharge outlet. read more

Unfair practices. The tester 'Mitch' had just passed a young female tester which he described to her mother as having "made 2 errors but shush we wont mention that" as clearly overheard by me, then had the mother sign off on a '65hour practice hrs' agreement although both acknowledge that that was not correct, as the mother shrugged her shoulders and said thanks. I was glad to know HS , who was next up to test had experience with an excellent instructor, HS is an 18yr old male driving student, whom has been practicing with a Johns Driving school instructors/ testors since February - with glowing reviews from the Instructor/testor Bill W. Infact Bill recommended HS to schedule the driving test based on his final instructions, stating HS is a commendable student. Comfortable sitting beside an instructor and uses care and caution with driving, HS has practiced diligently for many weeks.. but guess who didnt pass on this day? HS. Mitch stated HS didnt look left to right while passing an intersection on a GREEN light. Now most understand that given the field of vision, humans can see clearly while approaching a wide open intersection by moving their eyeballs and not needing to swing their head from left to right, while proceeding through an intersection with a GREEN signal. When I discussed my concern as well as the overheard conversation in the waiting area, in front of me to the instructor,whom ignored my claim I made to him regarding passing the girl as well as the overheard specifics to that conversation, and then the manager, it was explained that in the 'manual' it is stated you must look both ways when approaching every intersection and she stated this can cause a fail on a driving test, depending on other errors. Well, I suppose someone had to fail that day, not the underage girl needing her mother's signature who made 2 mistakes because 'she was just a little nervous'. The 18yr old, whom had actually put in the hours and had reviews from other instructors. HS was offered to return and pay another $99 , besides the $499. I had already paid for lessons and testing. I will be following up on this unfair practice and see who monitors these places. Pay your money, take your chances. The only bright spot.. the lessons were provided by an excellent instructor, testor, Bill W- 2stars for Bill. read more

John's Driving School is a money grab!! I just took my son for his 2nd driving test ($100 each test). The instructor lied and said he did not use his turn signal coming out of the parallel parking spot. I recorded him and a gentleman and his son who were watching both confirmed that he used his signal. I would not recommend using this place to take the test, especially, if you didn't pay them for lessons. They will get your money one way or another. read more

I would highly recommend Johns Driving School. The instructors there are awesome -they really go out of their way to teach you . They will help you out if you don't know something and try to make you feel as comfortable as possible so that you can demonstrate all the skills that you have without feeling intimidated like you might at the DMV . I have sent two children through their driving instruction program and driving testing and they did an awesome job. very happy with the customer service as well! Worth the investment ! read more

Buyer beware! Cancellation policy extremely unfair. Charges $50.00 cancellation fee if less than 72 hours. What happens when your child sick with the flu and can't get out of bed! I said keep the lesson and child won't show up. They would STILL charge me $$50.00. Johns Driving school had my full payment already so their driver would have been paid regardless if I cancelled the appointment. What additional cost would they have incurred with my cancellation? In fact they would have saved money such as gas usage etc. read more

If I could rate this below one star, I would. This place is a joke. My brother had a driving lesson and the lady told him he could take the test and pass today because he did so well. My dad took him out driving many times to continue practicing, and 3 months later he goes to take the test. The guy asked him questions about the car he had no idea and they failed him because of it... my brother had even asked the lesson instructor lady when he went the first time if he needed to know any of the mechanics inside the car for the test and she told him about two thing (wipers and blinkers, which they didn't even ask during the test) and said he did not need to know anything else. This place will literally set you up for failure and take your money because we now have to pay to take another test. It is completely ridiculous. Go somewhere else if you want real driving lessons and actually want to get you license. read more
