I was driving through Yreka when I noticed that my cell phone battery was dead, even though it said it was completely full less than 2 hours before. Being the paranoid person I am, I couldn't drive one more mile with a dead cell phone (after all, what if I broke down?! I would have to--GASP!--trust a stranger to help me!!!). I visited various cell phone places right off the freeway, trying to find a charger of some sort. I eventually ended up at Radio Shack. The guy who worked there (I think his name was Tom) was really helpful from the moment I walked in the door. He showed me all of my options and recommended the cheapest one. He used a knife to open up those impossible hard plastic packages for me and put all the packaging in a bag for me, then tested the charger to make sure it worked for my phone. Awesome! Also, I used the bathroom here. It was the cleanest little bathroom! I was totally surprised. And amused, because sitting next to the toilet was a cute little candle...and a stack of NRA magazines. read more

John and the clerks at the store have been amazing. We often need a battery or charger and know we can rely on this store to have what we need or they will order it. Last week we decided we'd had enough of the cable company in Mount Shasta not helping us when something is wrong, unable to access the channel list so we could record on the DVR, fixing a problem with HD and many other things (Channel 2 was offline for a year with no explanation or expectation when it would return). The staff in the John's Satellite store were great at taking our information and setting the expectations for the install. John was right on time, knowledgeable, and got the job done quickly and efficiently. Most importantly, we know if we have a problem, we can get an answer from John. We were so tired of cable,that we just walked into Johns Satellite to see what we might get. To our surprise Dish has a great package deal, that was cheaper then cable and such a better image. We had a choice of installation times and John was up crawling around and under our house in no time. I'm sure he hadn't planned on spending 4+hrs into his dinner time to make sure that we had great tv in all our rooms. I have lived in Mount Shasta since 1994 and I have always had good experiences with both John's satellite and Radio Shack. His staff is very professional and helpful. it's not easy being in business in a small town, I know that first hand. We are lucky to have folks like John's Satellite up here in Mount Shasta, I don't want to call on Oregon for cable TV or a mouse for my computer. This joint is an authorized Verizon Retailer, but they don't offer very many services. Like what? I'm glad you asked! I wanted to transfer my messages from an iPhone 5S to a new iPhone SE; the employee told me they couldn't do that, because the owner doesn't want to pay an extra $200 a month to offer this service because he already has a subscription through Verizon to offer other services and thinks this should be included. So now, I get to drive to the Verizon Store in Medford and have them do it. This store is the absolute worst in Siskiyou County. I'd heard stories from others about this place, but decided to give them a chance. My advice is to steer clear of it and just bite the bullet and drive to Medford or Redding. read more

I really appreciated this small town radio shack. The ladies that work there seem very knowledgeable about the current technology and they are a Verizon provider, and story short they saved my life, so to speak. As you all know, I hate Verizon and probably will until the end of time (but that is another story). On the day that I went in I was all pissed off and ready for another battle with verizon. My phone was still under contract and it was being a bitch once again and was refusing to charge or turn on. And here I was traveling alone with a sucky, unreliable phone. Kari patiently listened to me gripe about Verizon being theives, and she handled me very well. She noticed my phone was defective and she called verizon, waited on hold, and had those a-holes send me a new phone. She was very very easy to communicate with (thank god), and she set my new phone up for me when it came in. It was so nice to deal with someone who was not looking to sell me something for once, but who was really trying to deal with me on a human level, and help me. What a concept, huh. I stopped in this Radio Shack on my way back to Chico. I had lost my phone charger and found exactly what I needed and ended up buying a whole satelite System. The owner even set up an install for me in Chico- I was very impressed and have even stopped back into the store when i come up to visit. the store is well stocked and very busy too. So, I recently got satellite thru, John's radio shack in mt.shasta. most amazing. Most channel's are in HD, clear sound and picture. Installation was quick and easy.very friendly and knowledgeable. I went in for help with my cell phone, wishing to get it repaired or buy a new phone. Store Clerk too busy chatting with some guys about his gun collection and how he couldn't buy a 50 caliber rifle in Montana because of his PTSD to give me any attention. When I asked about the phones he said they were too expensive and wouldn't give me prices. Did not seem interested in making a sale or giving me any kind of help. When I asked about what was wrong with my phone he said, "It's an LG". Will not go back to store. Under previous owners I could get the help I needed. read more

My husband and I recently moved into the area. Our first trip to this store the service was ok. Maybe a three star. The staff wasn't that knowledgable, but the young girl really tried to help us. Our second trip here I was appalled at the service. The lady behind the counter scowled at us when we walked in, as if it was a huge inconvenience that we were there to spend money. The other woman working seemed friendly enough but was busy with another customer. We waited for her to finish and before we could ask her for help she turned her back on us and his behind the counter and watched us. And when I say watched us, I mean WATCHED us like we were shoplifters. She proceeded to ask every other person in the store if they needed help, while ignoring my husband and I. I've worked retail my entire life and have never seen such horrible service. For a small town store that relies on repeat business this kind of behavior is inexcusable. Worst place to try and get service. Walked in and NOBODY acknowledged me. Two men working there, one was on the phone and the other was flirting with a customer. No hello I'll be right with you or anything. When the guy that was in the phone got off he immediately went to join the conversation with the other guy and girl!! I was ready to purchase DISH Network... This actually was my second time at this store and was ignored. Don't know how they stay in business! Rude and VERY unprofessional! Went in years ago when they were at the old location. A woman who has worked there for some time (maybe an owner?) came down from upstairs when she heard my voice, looked at my face, said nothing, and went back upstairs. It left me feeling strangely, as though I did not warrant her attention as I didn't look like someone who was going to spend a lot of money. Since then, every time I have had to go in, I have received cold, impersonal service from lackluster, uninterested employees. Others may have had different experiences, but I do not go to this store unless I have to. I have Verizon, and was willing to pay $20 to have them send me a SIM card, vs. going into this store. They waived the fee when I told them why I was willing to pay it. I understand the store is for sale. I hope whomever gets it is someone who cares about the business. read more
