The Trafalgar Branch Library is pretty amazing. Even before going inside, I was struck by the…read morenatural wildflower/prairie garden that surrounds the building. A trail winds through the garden with the Kelsey Anne Devine StoryWalk for kids. (Kelsey was a local resident that passed away too young). In front of the building is a large art sun sculpture. There is also a patio with chairs to sit and read surrounded by additional garden. Inside, the library is large and open with beautiful high ceilings. Wood and stone give the building a natural feeling. The Children's Area has a small play area and a separate room dedicated to play. There are lots of books for the kids. The Teen Area has comfy seating and a chess set set up. Besides books, there is information posted about important topics for teens. The Adult Area has more comfortable seating surrounding a fireplace. Lots of natural light comes into the space from large windows that overlook the garden. This is my favorite spot to read the daily newspaper. Plenty of small tables are scattered throughout the building. A set of public computers are available near center of the library. A large community room with small kitchen near the entrance was being cleaned during my visit. Baskets of free vegetables from summer gardens for visitors to take home stand near the entrance. Outside, an emergency box with opioid antidote reminds us of the struggle with addiction in our rural communities. There is plenty of parking outside with several handicapped spaces. This library offers much more than books and I'll be back.

We love the White River library! Great selection of books and other materials along with a large…read moresection for kids. There's a large train table, play kitchen, fire truck, and a rotating selection of toys along with plenty of comfortable seating and a kids bathroom. The library also has several work/study areas and seating areas for bird watching, reading, or just hanging out. My only complaint about this location is that it's a little tough to access at certain times of day due to traffic patterns in the area, but that's not something the library can resolve!

The library layout is really cool. However when I took my nonspeaking Autistic 4 yr old to the…read morechildren's section, the librarians did not want her to touch the books in the shelves. They said they were afraid she would knock them down, but she was not doing that. She is a sensory seeker and wanted to touch them and see their bright colors. She did not knock any books down, but her Autistic stimming seemed to unnerve the librarians who asked me (mom) to not allow her to press on the books. Since she has Autism level three it is not possible to have her follow those instructions because she cannot understand them. I would ask that the library staff try to be more inclusive of children with disabilities and to allow them to touch the books. If she had been allowed to finish touching the books, she would have been able to settle down and then sit down and look through one. My daughter was not making a mess of any kind. This experience caused us unnecessary stress, made us feel unwelcome, and my daughter did not understand what she had done wrong

This local library is delightful! It's medium-sized, as far as libraries go (definitely smaller…read morethan Central Library and smaller than Greenwood), but it packs a lot of stuff in there. There is a decent-sized community room for events, located right up front. The back of the library has 2 private study rooms that you can reserve; each fits around 4 people and includes a dry erase board. Then it has a BOOTH that is very coffee shop style and includes outlets. There are multiple tables and seating places. Around 20 computers set up for the public to use. The selection includes a little of everything. If they don't have something you want, the IPL overall likely has it, and they can do a request to have that item delivered to Southport Library for your pick-up. How cool! Reserving items is easier than it was back in the day. You can do self check-out and it goes by quickly - you can even have the reminder emailed to you! Plus, this area of town is home to many immigrants (Chin refugees from Burma and more) and they have signs in multiple languages. Love the inclusivity. Libraries are wonderful.

They let kids run around and scream and crawl and play in the aisles; I even heard one who looked to be about eight years old yelling expletives multiple times. There don't seem to be many parents around. When I was a kid, we would get in trouble if we were loud in the library. These kids have no consideration for the people around them and their parents don't seem to care to teach it to them. I've spent hours here, but I think this is my last time coming to this location. The Greenwood libraries or other Indianapolis libraries are much nicer and quieter.

They had a theater for the children, displays of books for Halloween, and for Where the Wild Things Are. They have clean bathrooms, polite staff, and a large selection of books. I was very impressed with the amount of room there is in the kids section for children to play!
