We went to the kids section and had so much fun! I was really surprised they redid the Babysitters Club series! They had a theater for the children, displays of books for Halloween, and for Where the Wild Things Are. They have clean bathrooms, polite staff, and a large selection of books. My family and I went into this Barnes & Noble when we're in the area visiting family I like going to the Barnes & Noble. They're always nice. This bookstore was top-notch for sure it delivered everything that you could want. It had wonderful staff members. They had a great selection of books great selection of toys for the younger kids, and just saw a nice comfy feeling on the inside. read more

I haven't been in a Barnes & Noble's in years. We went because I noticed that they had a storytime on Saturday mornings. We were able to take our daughter and enjoy a couple of different back-to-school books and treats. They also offer coloring time or play time with the kids as well. I love bookstores, they're like an alternate universe. Especially going from the hubbub of the Greenwood Park Mall to inside this Barnes and Noble, which is attached. This location is always clean and organized. I worked at a similar chain when I was in grad school, and as the person putting everything away, it's not always easy keeping up as folks are shopping. This is really for their website, their physical location has gone downhill in recent years in terms of selection, but the staff is nice and helpful. I placed an order for some items and learned through forums that a lot of people had had those items cancelled (movies) My order was still good - or so I thought. They cancelled mine too, and then never bothered to communicate that to me. By the time I found out, it was too late to order elsewhere. This is a business that communicates a placed order about a million times before it gets to your house - so to not tell you it is cancelled? Weird. Then when I called to inquire I miraculously get an email from them telling me it's been cancelled. I have a premium membership due to a credit card deal that I renewed for another year - they've degraded that experience also, so don't bother spending money for it anymore. read more

I am handicapped and I use a mobility scooter. When I tried to enter this store I found no handicap door opener. When I used the restroom there was no handicap door opener. Opening both the outside doors and restroom doors was impossible. Love the bookstore overall, but the customer service at the cafe was really lacking: I thought at first it was just the one girl. She seemed put out and never smiled. My mom asked her a question and she finally looked up and said "What?" as if Mom had bothered her. When Mom asked if they had ceramic mugs for the coffee (which hadn't been made yet since we were ordering), the girl said, "I can wash one." That isn't professional at all. It's making it sound like she is being inconvenienced. Then the other two girls came along later. I went up to the counter and both of them completely ignored me (vs "I'll be with you in a moment," which is usually professional courtesy). I knew they were finishing up stuff, but when they finally addressed me, it was without any smiles or niceties. Maybe it's because I'm visiting from Texas and I'm used to Southern hospitality, but I consider it just professional courtesy. We were not in any way rude to them or demanding, and we just felt like they would rather not have been there. The service in the regular bookstore was decent enough, but nobody seemed even relatively pleased to be helping customers. Very unsmiling, all of them. We never felt welcome. To be fair, they may have been perfectly nice at the checkout of the main store, but we didn't purchase any books. read more

I've enjoyed my recent visits to this Barnes and Noble location! It's in the Greenwood Park Mall complex, but has its own entrance, so it's easier to get in and out without any mall headaches beyond dealing with the parking lot. The store is pretty big, so I need to go explore more sections of it. I've been here before, but it had been awhile and it's arranged a little differently now. :) They have plenty of books, as well as gift items and such! I've been writing in the cafe area (which, hi--they have really fun teas to try...like a blueberry green tea that smells like a muffin) and mostly exploring the sections nearby, namely the YA section. Their young adult section is arranged beautifully and I love winding around those shelves after a visit to the cafe. They have a lot of popular releases, some indie books, and even paperbacks of web comic collections, which is fun! The science fiction and fantasy books are nearby too, which I discovered on my last visit. So I anticipate more time exploring that direction next! The bathroom is in the back, behind the YA section... it's pretty clean and standard for a B&N. There's also a water fountain back there, should you have a desire for it. Also, the Instagram account for this B&N is pretty fun, so check them out there, too. They've even recommended me a book via DM once! I'll definitely be back soon! Barnes & Noble - Glimpse of the YA section - Bookstores Near Me - Greenwood, Indiana

This is the first time I have visited this location. It is laid out a lot different than the Plainfield location so finding the Fiction section was challenging. The bookshelves are turned different ways and some create U-shaped areas which makes it harder for me to navigate the various aisles and categories within the Fiction area. I was looking for a specific author within the Mysteries & Thrillers section. The bigger size paperback books are shelved in a different area than the normal smaller sized paperback books making it even more challenging. I never did find where the hardback books were located. The Plainfield store shelves all three types of books together for each author which I like better. Upon checkout, I had to wait awhile for a cashier to show up as the registers were not staffed and no one was nearby. There are two entrance/exit doors on opposite sides of the store that look similar. A sign above the door indicating where it goes would be helpful. read more

I do like this book store even though I haven't been to it in awhile. I don't get the opportunity to read very often due to some time constraints, but I do enjoy a good book once in a while regardless. There's something about a book store that stimulates my mind, warms my heart and fills my soul. I will admit that the Starbucks inside also helps do that. ;o) I rarely go to Starbucks anymore so it's a real treat for me when I do. I just enjoy the atmosphere of a large and comprehensive book store as well as the search because it's like a treasure hunt. Usually when I go, I'm not sure exactly what I want as a general rule, but it is cool to discover many things; whether it's a book I haven't heard about, to any special deals I will happen upon. read more

Barnes and Noble has a great selection of everything you could want in a book store. Over the years I will stop in here mainly to buy books as presents for others and the occasional book for myself. I typically buy books second hand or use the library. They also have a nice vinyl selection. This location has a Starbucks inside which is nice and adds to the comfy feel that a bookstore has. They recently changed their layout and have the sections more u shaped now which can get a little frustrating when you are trying to get to specific areas quickly. read more

One of my favorite bookstores since the selection is massive! Pricing is a little high but the quality & quantity always makes up for it.There were two books I was looking for specifically and I found at least one which I was excited about. I found an extra book to buy that just seemed too good to pass up. The store was very clean and organized. I love the center aisle and end caps with popular or recommended books to check out. The staff also put up tabs of brief descriptions on books they recommend which is super fun. The staff are always friendly and eager to help which makes for a great shopping experience. read more

For a bibliophile like me, Barnes & Noble near my home is a magical heaven. My family has always enjoyed browsing through books and sipping a cuppa joe there forever. It's a fantastic store, but honestly, it can't beat the online prices. Although I want to support the retailer and local/small businesses--getting a gift card or buying there does not convince me enough due to the lack of sales or coupons even when subscribed. I wished they worked harder to retain customers or at least price matched because if they had to close down anytime, book lovers like me would be saddened. read more

Oh Emm Gee! I feel terrible now. I disturbed someone's privacy as I was browsing the books, as if he mistook Barnes & Noble for his living room. Buy the !@#$ book and go home! Don't people know that it isn't the Library? I keep thinking that if people bought books, instead of lounging, researching, and having meetings at B&N, the store could actually lower the prices and compete with Amazon.com. (Weird, Yelp adds the link.) I like B&N for their technical computer books, as they generally have a good selection from store to store, and since Borders is gone, they're the only brick and mortar source. This one is no different. I can't say that I smelled Starbucks and certainly didn't see it. The magazines were easy to find and there were plenty of "bargain books". I didn't see many people buying, which is a shame. How do they continue, if few people buy? Since it's in the Greenwood Park Mall lot, there are a lot of cars and not so many parking spaces, but it's convenient for a lot of people. read more

This is a massive store with a wide variety of books, audiobooks, games, cd's, and DVD's. If you are old school and like the feel of having a book in your hand but hate waiting for the latest read to be available at your library, then this place is a must! The spacing in the aisles is wide enough to let people pass while you are browsing. I hate feeling crowded in a lot of smaller stores, but that's not a problem here. They also seemed to have quite a few folks on staff even on a Monday afternoon. The only place that seemed like it needed a bit of attention was the south side of the store where the audio (books, dvds, etc) is located and has scanners to prevent theft. That desk appeared to be unattended, so I heard other folks commenting that they weren't sure if they could leave that area to the main checkouts without setting off alarms. But overall, I was pleased with the variety of offerings the place has. I'm not sure how else this place can reinvent itself in the digital age, but I wish them luck. Without a single employee at B&N in Greenwood asking me if they could help, an employee followed me around and eventually had a manager come to me and essentially suggest I leave the store. read more

There is nothing better than the smell of the inside of a book store or library. One of the few remaining bookstores to go in person to purchase a book. Huge selection of books and magazines to satisfy any reader. They have games , puzzles and a huge music section. And if course. If they do not have what you are looking for they can have in a couple days for you to see, and you do not have to buy it if it wasn't what you were looking for. Great customer service. The shelves are organized in such a frustrating way. They're sectioned off into U shapes in the least intuitive way possible. I just want to walk down an aisle between rows of shelves to find the genre I'm looking for. Not navigate an entire maze. read more

This is where I always get my new books from. I normally read about coonhound dog training and how training a coonhound isn't like any other breed of dog. You can't use what you learn about training coonhounds and try to train other dogs it doesn't work. Only on other hounds because there so different then any other dog types out there. I love to read about wild life I love to learn what different animals are out there and every thing about them. I also love to read about history like world war 2 and how we got this far. It's good to look into the past so we don't make the same mistakes in are future a lot of people don't understand this but I do. Any ways this is my favorite book store of all time. read more

When there is a Half-price books across the street I find myself rarely going to this Barnes and Noble. They are over-priced, and I would never buy a CD or DVD from here unless they had some kind of amazing sale or something. You do pay to be in their rewards program. I am a paying member. It's $25 dollars a year, but anyone you know can use it by telling them your phone number. They told me that, so its legit. It is a nice bookstore. They send an email every week with the deals of the week. This can be useful or feels like spam depending on the season and how often you shop at a Barnes and Noble. They have pretty good coffee, too. There is also a Borders I like just a little bit further north on 31. This is not the biggest Barnes and Noble, so they don't have the largest selection. read more

Poor experience. After finding my usual entrance closed and driving to another only to find that I was either 2 years too young or 15 minutes too early. I totally understand being safe for shoppers but they should have at least posted these rules on their door. I'm only really doing a review of this Barnes & Noble because they had one of my favorite movies "Weekend" which is in the Criterion Collection. I was going to order this online but glad to have found it in-store while looking for another product. I am also a member of B&N which I believe is $25 a yr. That's a good deal with the discounts you receive every time you shop. 40% off hardcovers, 10% off everything else and free express shipping! The amount of DVDs and other merch I purchase from barnes & noble by being a member has saved me some money all for $25/yr. There is no commission with membership sales. I am a fan of bookstores - being a bookworm at heart. Since Barnes and Nobles opened less than 3 months ago I have been there at least 3 times. I did not give it 5 stars because of their rewards program. You have to pay to become a member and I am just not a fan of that. Borders wins over in their member rewards department hands-down -but they lose out on location for us being in Whiteland and the closest Borders being up on Southport. Another negative point about the Barnes and Noble store is the lack of seating - when I go book shopping - I GO book shopping....FOR HOURS. And it helps and encourages me to stay longer and buy more books if there is comfy places for me to sit with my stack of books I am thinking about buying. I found very few chairs in this store and what chairs I did find where stuck in the far corners of the store and were wooden straight back chairs - yuck! Also their clearance section is something less than amazing - Borders gets another one over on them for that - always having great sales that entice me to come in and browse for holidays and birthdays and I know I will always come out with a good deal - Barnes and Nobles - not so much - there are sales but not as discounted on the prices and much less of a selection in the clearance area as opposed to what you can find in competing bookstores. One thing I did really love about Barnes and Nobles was their artistic section - full of folders, binder, paper tablets, paper weights etc that were modern and trendy - very nice section for the young professional to browse through to spruce up their desk. read more
