*YOU'RE BETTER OFF SELF REPRESENTING* JLG failed to inform me about critical processes (such as a temp orders hearing for parenting time as my now ex-wife was very combative about sharing time with our kids once we separated, even after I spent many hours pressing JLG for options just like that that would help me get time with my kids). I learned about the temp orders hearing from the CFI (child family investigator) who put in his report his concern that I hadn't asked for that. JLG neglected to clarify to the CFI that I hadn't known about that process (as well as other errors the CFI had on his report). I discovered this at the final orders hearing when the CFI brought this up again on the stand. JLG made other serious errors in my case that ended up making me look like a petty and uninvolved parent. I spent many hours and was billed tens of thousands of dollars going over strategies and gathering info/docs for them that they ended up not using. They switched attorneys on me numerous times and I was not supposed to be billed for them getting caught up but was. Additionally I had to keep reiterating things to JLG that they should have known and was billed for it. They wasted a lot of time, made a lot of errors and billed extensively. For 1 mediation, 1 short temp orders hearing (for something my wife requested) and an 8 hour final orders hearing I was charged almost $75k. They didn't even use most of the info provided to them or strategies discussed. JLG was very unresponsive, sloppy and habitually failed to carry out expectations, did not take accountability for their errors but happily charged as much as they could, constantly let me know about things last minute (often when it was too late for me to do anything), neglected to use preferred communication methods, made serious financial errors on my docs to the court and neglected to present things before the court that showed my involvement with my kids and expenses for my kids and home repairs. I would have been better off self representing. read more

The Johnson Law Group, despite their initial reputation for professionalism and competence, has recently shown significant shortcomings that have left me feeling frustrated and underserved. Unfortunately, their handling of my cases has been marred by extended delays, lack of communication, and questionable billing practices. Extended Delays One of the most concerning aspects of the Johnson Law Group's service is the unacceptable delays in case progression. I have consistently experienced delays, attorney too busy, that has dragged my work out by many months. While some legal matters naturally take time, these delays were frequent, and long, and rarely communicated to me. Lack of Communication Compounding the frustration of delays is the firm's apparent disregard for consistent and timely communication. My experience was I had to reach out, sometimes weekly to see what my status was and often times went without and response. Additional Billing Issues To add insult to injury, their flat fee for my case was not enough, their very aggressive billing (for office staff) resulted in additional charges that were unexpected Conclusion In conclusion, while the Johnson Law Group may have once had a strong reputation, my experience was very underwhelming and their services were very costly compared to others for the same work. Worst attorneys I've ever dealt with!!!! no communication!!!Exhausted all retainer without a phone call or any verbal communication!! Never felt represented !!And they withdrew from my case with no care at all of my situation while I was in a vulnerable situation they took advantage!!! They repeatedly lie and tell you the next week you will hear back from them and you don't They told me my funds would be directly deposited within 2 to 3 days on the 19th of November it is now December 7th, every time I call They would say give them a week now they are saying bank information is wrong and they will send a check my bank notifies me if something is wrong and they haven't, I even checked with bank and nothing had tried coming from their bank Johnson Law Group also took 3/5 of what settlement was. I wouldn't wish this firm on my ex... The consultation is free, but you'll easily spend $1600 before you ever get started... well at least that was my experience. You're supposed to have your lawyer on your side, but instead, it felt like I was battling them for their billing and operational practices while dealing with the stress of responding to my ex's attempt to relocate our children out of state. I stayed with them for less than 2 weeks and lost a lot of money. Maybe this review will spare you the same grief and stress. Johnson will say that all of this is my fault for not reading the agreement contract carefully, but having gone through a full out separation with another attorney, this firm's practices do not sit well with me. So here's how it goes: You meet with a very kind, friendly paralegal for free and they ask you all kinds of questions about your case. Then they pair you with a lawyer. You decide to sign up and the billing starts. $150 admin fee and $150 to pay the substitution of counsel fees. Then you spend an hour to an hour and half completing a questionnaire with a lot of the same questions you just answered with the paralegal. Then your lawyer and his paralegal read that form and bill you for their time. $410 Then your lawyer introduces himself to you and shares their credentials. $120. Then your lawyer decides to collaborate on your case with another lawyer (you do not get to decide if this happens because it is outlined that way in their agreement form). $310 Your lawyer puts together a timeline of events and a legal plan. $400. You try to meet with the firm's manager and billing person to say you don't feel some of the fees were clearly outlined, that their intake process is costly and that some expenses do not seem really necessary. They tell you that they are completely within the terms of their agreement. They are right and you are wrong. They finally send you your pdf copy of the said agreement, which you can only access once (and that is when you are signing). The link becomes invalid after that. You say, "I want to trust you, but I feel like I am really being nickel and dimed here. Can we work this out"? They say, "no". You pay $100+ on random filing fees, email communications, and miscellaneous stuff. You cancel their services and they charge you $15 to return your retainer.... You find another attorney or firm (Centennial Family Law) and your stress level goes way down, the twisting feeling in your stomach goes away, and keep hoping the last 2 weeks were a bad dream. I would not recommend Johnson Law Group. Jacqueline Zenon told me that the retainer was set based off of the estimated amount it would cost for my case. She also stated that if I didn't pay the fees, they could just be taken out of my retainer. I had the impression that give or take a few hundred dollars, it was mostly going to cost $2,500.00 to file for guardianship. Jacqueline also told me that I needed to get started right away on filing my petition because it usually takes 90 days. I decided to go with them because Jacqueline responded quickly, was very friendly, and even offered me a payment plan for the retainer. They had high ratings, and they were the quickest firm to reach out to me after my inquiry. I really felt like they cared, would work with me, and help me along the way. I started out with Mark Galler. After a month of working with him, I learn that there is a conflict of interest with the firm and that his paralegal shared confidential information with the conflicting party. Then on the day I had a scheduled meeting with him, I was notified by email--not phone--that my appointment was canceled, that Mark was no longer with the firm and that I needed to decide if I was staying with Mark, Johnson Law Group, or going with another firm. I had to call them to ask what that meant and what would happen to my retainer. Nonetheless, I didn't feel like I could go with Mark because he didn't communicate anything with me, my retainer was with Johnson, and it was already 30 days in to the 90 days of filing. So I stuck with Johnson Law group and was reassigned to Alexandra M Archilla Rodriguez. I was charged nearly $800.00 for her to proofread the documents that Mark had initially filled out. Then she held onto the documents for over a month. She and her paralegal were charging me for random meetings they held without me, and what they did during that time, I have no idea because I had to remind them at the end of August that the temporary allocation of parental rights for the aforementioned conflicting party was expiring on September 16th. She didn't get me a court date until December 21st. In the meantime, I get a threatening email from Emily Matlock stating they were going to quit as my representation within 5 days and recall my court documents if I didn't pay the bill immediately. I was confused because I thought the fees came out of the retainer and nothing had even been filed with the court yet. I had to quickly pay an additional $2500.00, which I couldn't use Affirm again because I used it for my first retainer (which would have been nice to know I should have applied for more) and I'm working on moving to accommodate the children, and transferring them from Colorado to the state I live in. Not to mention the children had to come live with me in November, which required moving them and getting them set up for school in another state without any of the guardianship documents. Alexandra then asks me if they can stay living in Colorado until December 2022 when I initially hired Johnson Law Group in July 2022! I checked in today to see what the next steps are for the hearing in two days and find out they dropped me on November 14th, mind you by email yet again, no phone call, because somehow they blew through $6,000 already having random meetings where nothing gets done; the paralegal keeps asking me for information I initially provided Mark and then had to pay for Alexandra to review it all, I was supposed to meet a deadline by Nov 30th for something; I have to file a motion to appear virtually or the judge will expect me to show up in person; and apparently there is still another document I have to fill out for each kid. I am severely disappointed with this law firm. They have been dropping the ball since the beginning of July regardless of which person you deal with. read more

In my experience, this is a horrible group. I got a timid, stuttering lawyer who could barely speak up in court and I'm sure this group commits some seriously dishonest billing practices. A seemingly routine protection order case and annulment of a very short marriage already cost $13K. I was told I'd get money back from my retainer fees and that the normal cost for this is usually way less than what I initially paid. I'm now in the process of doubling it and am now being told that this is very cheap compared to $60 to $150K divorce cases. read more

I Hired this group three months ago and only heard from then twice. When I would call my attorney I would get one callback in a week, even if it was something like a missed call. A week for a missed call without a callback time and if I called back in ten minutes another week before I would here from him. They would promise to send me needed paperwork and another two weeks would go by with nothing. I was told at one point by my attorney how communication do I need and I pointed out more than two conversions in three month's. I have hired attorney's in the past but none with such little regard for there clients. There are better law groups out there. I would not recommend this nonresponsive group. read more

I wished I did not have to select any stars for this law firm. We hired them after being assured they were able to take our case and come to find out they couldn't. One phone call informing us they couldn't take our case and asking for a refund they now want to keep $900 for fees they accrued.
