Worst vet on the shore. The doctor yelled at me in the office for not having my cat up to date on vaccines when they were looking at the wrong records. The front desk staff cleared this up after the appointment but I will never use Johnson-McKee again. I would leave negative stars if I could. read more

it is with sadness that I leave this review. We've just moved to the area after almost 40 years with the same vet practice, but they refused to see me. Not because they were busy....they weren't. Not because they've never met me...they treated my other dog in an emergency. Not because I they didn't like me ...didn't trust my dog..or I couldn't afford to pay...none of th at. They refused to see me because i told them that my dog was in late stages of kidney failure and we needed advice. We'd pay for any tests they wanted, but were looking for a medical opinion based on scientific test results before we drove her to some random emergency room to have her put down. They apparently don't look at dying dogs I was crying when I gave them the name of her old vet who'd treated her for all fourteen years of her life...but they didn't even call me back when they said they'd ask the vet if they'd make an exception. The worst vets and staff. We've been going to them for 15 years with 2 pets. The last one had a huge tumor on her side which they removed but we didn't even get to meet the vet because it was covid. They didn't want to do a thorough test on the tumor because it was looking not malignant through the microscope... My dog was 12 years old. They couldn't remove all of it. The care afterwards was horrible and a few times we went they charged an arm and a leg for a simple rewrap. When it came back even bigger after 6 months, they didn't care... and when I made that call to see if we could bring her in to put her to sleep because she was in pain and nothing could be done according to them... they said they wouldn't be able to take her in for 3 or 4 days!!! We took to her pet's ER and she had to be put to sleep that night... I would never recommend them in a million years. Careless. read more

I must agree that the office staff has tarnished the reputation of this practice. I have been treated very poorly and with ZERO respect. I've been taljed down to and argued with multiple times. The billing person is particularly rude. They also do not do what is rewuested of them. I requested they obtain my animals prior medical records and after multiple conversations and excuses they never followed through. I had a concern with finding a generic medication that was prescribed to my dog. The generic was not available at that office and was encouraged to search for it online. The veterinarian that suggested this medication told me that if I could not find it to please let him know and we would come up with an alternate plan. So I called multiple times left messages and explain my situation. My phone call was never returned. The person at the front desk that I eventually spoke with was very rude and condescending and would not give the vet the message. I was only leaving him a message as he requested me to do. Eventually I had to come in to pay another office visit to see him to explain this to him in person. It's bothersome that this situation occurred and how disrespectful I was treated by this office staff. I worry that the behavior of this office staff is acceptable therefore I'm concerned about the quality of care given to her animals. I will not be returning. read more

I am very disappointed with this Vet, I have used them for my Macaw and that was fine but Wednesday my dog was attacked by another dog leaving a hole in her neck about the size of a half dollar exposing her jugular vein so I called them to get an emergency appointment and was told they could not see her until Friday??? WTF My dog would have probably been dead by Friday. Being a current customer they would have made it a point to try to help in such a desperate situation. I don't know what is going on with the world but I never before had a Vet turn me away when it was such an emergency. I am now looking for a different Vet to take my pets too. read more

OK - went back last night with a cat emergency. Was able to see the doctor right away and I saw they had all new front desk staff. Dr. C was very helpful and made the recommendation to use Pets-ER. I appreciated the referral and my guy is doing fine. Maybe they can redeem themselves - I did notice the staff was friendly and very attentive to the animals. Worth another try I think. read more

This is an abysmal, uncaring facility. I've been using this vet service for approximately 18 years. First, for a dog we had to euthanize in 2007, and most recently for our cat. Our kitty was last seen by this office in 2020. She was seen for an eye injury and was given a series of shots. Our cat hasn't been acting herself lately by not eating as much, losing weight, and not defecating for several days. I called to make an appointment for Shera to be seen. I was told that because Shera hadn't been in the office for two years, that she was considered a "new patient" and the facility wasn't accepting new patients. I read their website before calling and their website indicates the length of time to be "3 years". I spoke to a so-called supervisor (sounded like a child) and she said the 3 years on their website was a "mistake". My wife called this office later in the day when she came home from work. She was told the amount of time was "1 year". Since Shera would have truly been a "new patient" for all other vet facilities in the area, and I could only find one that was accepting new patients and that scheduled an appointment for the end of October, my wife and I decided that neither we nor Shera could wait a month for Shera to be seen. We ended up taking her to the pet emergency room in Salisbury. While waiting, my wife spoke to four other people who were there because Johnson-McKee, who was their vet, turned them away. Sadly, Shera had advanced kidney disease and we made the decision to have her euthanized that night. The callous nature in which the children running Johnson-McKee made the day and the experience of putting our sweet Shera down more painful than it already would be. To add insult to injury, my wife, who was the one usually taking Shera to the vet, received an email from Johnson-McKee in July 2022 telling my wife that they hadn't seen Shera in a while and encouraged my wife to call and make an appointment. When I mentioned that to one of the children I spoke to, she said that the email must have come from their "corporate office". If you're looking for a veterinary facility that institutes arbitrary and capricious parameters of whether they're going to see your pet or not, Johnson-McKee is the place for you. They instituted these moving parameters in years because they are short-staffed and need to whittle down their patient number. 2 years. The website indicated 3 years. The last person spoken to said 1 year. It was almost like talking to a government agency and getting three different answers to the same question. read more

Showed up for a scheduled well check at 8:30 am only to find that our appointment had been automatically canceled last night due to a new policy. With no notice we were informed that since there was no confirmation of the 2nd call message that was left yesterday for us to call them back an confirm again within 24 hours of the appointment we were canceled. I was informed by the office manager that this information can be found on their website. Here's the kicker according to their website this policy is for new patients. My family of animals have been going to this clinic for 45 years! The cat with the canceled appointment has been going there for ALL of his life which is about 10 years ! So this is how they treat loyal active customers? Pretty sad and infuriating to say the least. In the end it's for the better I really didn't like how small and crowded the waiting area and rooms in the back are and the staff area behind the counter can get quite chaotic at times. The result is I am taking my family of pets to a new vet and happy to be moving on! read more

I couldn't be happier with the care my fur baby Tru received at her recent visit, as well as the information that is provided everytime I call with a concern . The staff is truly compassionate and understanding as my husband and I need to board our baby but she dis not have the required vaccination s which need to be done weeks in advance I was able to get a quick appointment and they were able to help me with a billing concern prior to boarding ! I feel my baby is in the best hands with Dr.Peters and his staff and can truly say I am relaxed and comfortable leaving her there for boarding! read more

Gotta love Adrienne and her rudeness. My 13 week old puppy had an incident and took a pretty big fall which required him to be rushed to VetER to see Dr. Shoebaker for his initial exam and treatment plan of an oxygen crate for a few days while on pain medication to help him breath easier. She was fantastic, now fast forward to Dr. Peters at Johnson- McKee. Our puppy could barely stand let alone wag his tail when I brought him in the following morning and his respirations were so exerted and loud you would have that a car motor was beside your ear- that's how loud it was. He had a build up of blood and liquid in his lungs caused by the bruising he had acquired from his fall (also mind you, he is 3 pounds). By the time I picked him up later in the evening to transfer back to PetER for an overnight oxygen crate therapy and babysitting, our little man was pulling through even after being advised previously he might not. We were blatantly told that he was not getting any better and had no improvements. Ladies and gentlemen, when I picked him up and my husband and myself were in the exam room WITH Dr. Peters, we pointed out how he was able to wag his tail, stand, and his respiration's were drastically improved and nowhere near as loud and exerted as he was prior to even with his pain medication he was in from Dr. Shoebaker. After getting another exam from VetER 15 after leaving Johnson-McKee, the staff there clearly remembered our little man, and made sure to mention how much better he was doing from his discharge earlier that morning. Funny how even the place charging more than twice as much as Johnson-McKee noted his progress and said we would be taking him home much sooner than expected. I sadly had to take the little man back in the next day for observation in an oxygen crate and yet requested the front desk that my puppy NOT see Dr. Peters given the drastically opposite prognosis within 15 of someone else. It really made my husband and I think about how much they really paid attention to him when checking him before we got there. Mind you, this was last week and Dr. Culver WAS our preferred for our puppy. Today, I called to make an appointment for our new puppy and was transferred to Adrienne where she saw I completed the satisfaction survey and noted my grievances. She said that our puppies were no longer welcome because we did not trust Dr. Peters and only felt comfortable with Drs. Ayresman and Culver. That's perfectly fine by us! We will happily take our money and furballs elsewhere where we can happily trust what we are told by all the staff. Even worse? When attempting to tell Adrienne as to why we did not trust Dr. Peters prognosis of our little guy, she kept cutting me off and would not let me finish a single sentence. I'm pretty sure that the customers paying hundreds of dollars for their pets matter, and you should truly listen. I do have the papers from VetER stating how he was doing much better, but no, you cannot reason with an ill-tempered child over the phone. Glad I no longer have any need to sit in their disgusting pet exam rooms anymore. read more

The staff and doctors are great. i needed an appointment for my pet and got one right away with Dr. Culver. She is very thorough every time I see her. Everyone is very caring and compassionate. I have been going to them for many years and trust that my fur babies are in good hands! read more

Dr. Cranston is great. She's helped my baby rat a ton. Everyone is pleasant there and I never have to wait and I never have trouble making appointments. A little on the expensive side but you can't help that. Pretty good vets office. read more

So I found myself spending a day with a family member at the local hospital...and in a pinch with the need for daycare for my little Yorkie. I walked in at 9:45am, my vet faxed over his papers, and voila! Puppy was in good hands. I have been using the services at Johnson-McKee for over 10 years. I have had dogs all of my life, and this is the first veterinary office where the dogs were actually happy to visit. The doctors and staff are always pleasant and friendly, but more importantly are also skilled medical providers. read more

My dog was refused to be seen by Dr. Culver. Office manager, Arienne, would not allow him to come in for exam and xrays that were needed to investigate what's going on with him. His rear end was paralyzed, he seemed to be in tremendous pain and distress and hes a big boy at 100lbs. Even when we showed up to the office, Adrienne denied him being seen. They insisted that I take him to PetEr (who allowed him in with open arms). Her and the office staff claimed that Dr. Culver was too busy with other animals in their care, however upon looking at available appointments online, I found availability for 6 different time slots, so I booked the first available, but was rudely called by Adrienne and denied care AGAIN. There was absolutely no reason why they couldn't assist and forced my baby to have to wait an hour and half for PetEr to open. Completely inhumane! I used to refer every one I knew to this office, but will tell of this incident now instead. Recently, Johnson McKee office has had multiple other MAJOR incidents and I will never allow my fur babies to be in their care nor give them my money EVER AGAIN. It's such a shame that they have lost focus of their purpose for helping animals in the community. Adrienne and Dr. Culver, to me, seem to be the route of this establishments heartlessness. read more

Unfortunately my experience with them was not good. They ran a blood test on our cat who simply wasn't being his self. They learned he had diabetes and prescribed insulin shots. On our second visit the doctor showed us how to inject the medicine. So far, so good. The next week I was out of town. My cat was very sick, to the point where my wife thought he might be dying. She called the vet twice throughout the day looking for advice. She was told the Dr. would call her back which he never did. The next day when I was home I called the vet and expressed my dissatisfaction with the vets office. I was told the Dr. would call back. He never did. The following day, a Thursday, we had a follow up appointment scheduled. One thing I'd like to point out is they did call on Wednesday, the day I called, to verify the cats appointment. I cancelled the scheduled appointment and explained why I did. I explained how upset I was about their lack of regard for their patients. Nobody bothered to contact me to try and explain.
