Thankful for Johnston Animal Hospital, Dr. Potter and Dr. Ward, the vet technicians, and amazing office staff. They have all been so incredibly kind and compassionate towards my husband and during the past four months. We lost both of our senior dogs right behind another. We brought our dog Molly in for her wellness and updates recently. Dr. Ward and his team were phenomenal! The front desk team greeted us with a friendly welcoming smile and greeted Molly with treats! Molly was a little nervous when coming into the room. However, Dr.Ward and Alania took their time making her feel welcomed and safe! Dr. Ward did an excellent job going over all of the recommendations needed for Molly. Went in for diagnosis of skin disorder/lump/cyst that has been on dog for 3 to 5 years and just starting to itch. Dr Rita, temporary fill in Dr with primary emergency clinic experience could not make a diagnosis or recommend clearly on observation. Insisted we take a smear to be assessed under microscope. Another veterinarian made a solid diagnosis based on multiple years experience and observation of the skin defect. Also Dr Rita initially recommended against a needle injection to obtain a sample similar to a biopsy. Later with no additional discussion this was included in our price quote. We asked for any alternative interim topical products we could use in the short term as an alternative to an estimated $3,000 surgical removal. None were given. We phoned another veterinarian who made a recommendation for two OTC products. During the diagnosis of the skin defect Dr Rita insisted our pet may have kennel cough for a cough-like reaction to her collar she's had for 11 years with no progression. Our pet was due for readies and distemper shots which is understood that for small dogs thet BOTH these vaccinations NOT be administered simultaneously. Within 1 hour after the shots were administered our dog developed an acute reaction. They asked us to bring her back in. We did and my wife made it perfectly clear at the front desk thet any and all procedures be approved by her and consent given. Instead they administered a shot of benadryl at a cost of an additional $70 on top of which the person at the front desk was going to charge us for an additional office visit, where my wife insisted we were not paying for an additional office visit!! Dr Rita came out and spoke with me after my wife called me in to.assist and she was sarcastic, touting her multiple years experience in an emergency veterinary clinic and tried her best to exacerbate the situation as "dire" to justify the additional shot of benadryl. Her customer service skills were extremely poor and her focus on the diagnosis was far from the actual problem we brought her there for and her were very unjustified and unwarranted. Very disappointed after a total of over $210 to receive a $650 estimate just for diagnostics services and nothing toward the actual potential surgical resolution or even what the skin condition was (same lumps she's had since a very young age) All in all between dealing with her condescending sarcasm and the multiple shot reaction for my dogs first time ever in 11 years and we could've simply given her OTC benadryl or at least been given the opportunity to approve the $70 shot for the problem initially caused by them for administering two shots at once. And above that they wanted to charge us for ANOTHER office visit - where even the vet tech agreed that was unnecessary Now, two hours after we left, all of our dogs "dire health" symptoms are back. We have no idea how many MG the $70 shot of Benadryl was but we've been in contact with our other vet who recommended 12mg OTC Benadryl. We have a very close friend in a different state who is a licensed and educated veterinarian for over 40 years and we were in contact play by play before, during and after this escapade and their response to this treatment, customer service and emergency response was far from proper in multiple ways. We were not there on an emergency visit until the critical emergency response temporary fill-in vet administered the double vaccines and falsely diagnosed and surmised kennel cough for an issue our pet has had all her life for the past 11 years while in total disregard for our original skin cyst problem, unless of course we paid the additional $650 for the formal diagnosis. Clearly they're in need of money to pay for the new building..staying far, far away and will continue to travel to our trustworthy, honest, fair priced veterinarian. Which, BTW we confirmed that $70 for a shot of Benadryl that only lasted two hours and no additional post treatment information provided was OUTRAGEOUSLY UNREASONABLE! read more

Have attended 5 appts so far with our new puppy. Both Dr Potter and Dr Ward have been wonderful. Over the years of living in JoCo, have used a couple different vet practices, but have enjoyed Johnston Animal Hospital and appreciated their care and individual attention the most. From the front / reception staff ... to the vet techs ... to both vets... everyone is so friendly and dedicated. I will take all my animal family members here from now on. i brought my cat in for an examination of a wound on his neck. the doctor was really good about letting us know what was wrong with him and anything to fix it. he didn't throw an unnecessary bill on us. he let us choose what we would be paying for and what each item was for. hands down , amazing vet. read more
