Every time there's a special occasion like a birthday celebration or a family reunion, we always make sure that we only order our Lechon from Lydia's. I am a huge fan of Lechon (or anything roasted, really) and I consider Lydia's to serve the best-tasting Lechon in Manila. What I like about Lydia's is they always make sure that they roast their Lechon to perfection. They make it a point that the meat is seasoned well and would taste good even without the standard Lechon sarsa. They also make sure that the pig skin is golden brown and the crunchiness would last for hours. Some whole pig rotisseries out there even serve their Lechon raw (ewww), which is the main reason why I only buy Lechon from Lydia's. It's best to stick with THE BEST!

Lydia's offers almost everything that has to do with lechon. You can order it by weight and you can also order it as a meal. It's just amazing! Now, anyone can have lechon anytime they want. There are different set meals to choose from. It depends on what sides you would want with it. It also comes with iced tea or soda and soup. The pork is freshly chopped. You can see them do so in one area. The meat is very tender. It's not chewy. The skin is still crispy too! It just makes the meal taste great! The serving is also a lot. They give you just enough pork to make you happy! I love eating here because I'm always satisfied.

Sabrett - My fave "merienda" combo!

The stuff that dreams are made off. Sabrett is what i think about when i imagine what an original NY hotdog must taste like! The hotdogs taste very meaty and have a satisfying snap when you bite into them. The mustard and sour kraut is top-notch! The only downside of this place is the price. I'd be eating here more often if it were abit cheaper. Sabrett doesn't offer anything else on its menu (aside from drinks), not that it needs to. Sabrett is the prime example of choosing one dish and being very good at making that dish!

So, why am I writing a review about, of all places, a Sabrett Hotdog stand? I'm writing this because this hotdog stand was part of my happy childhood memories and I really do not want this stand to be closed down. :( I remember that, every time I got good grades or received an award, my mom would bring me home 2 Sabrett hotdogs with all the fixings + sauerkraut. When we would go to Shangri-la to do the groceries (which was a treat for us!), we would eat at Sabrett for merienda (afternoon snack). If we were going to watch a movie, yes, we would order a few hotdogs to eat while watching the movie. Of course, as I grew up, new malls started popping up and we didn't have to go to Shangri-la as often anymore. But, when I do get the chance to go to this mall, I make sure to stop by Sabrett for my hotdog fix. For all times sake :) it's just so sad to see that it's the only food stall left standing on the 4th floor. The 2 other stalls beside it have closed just this year. :( Every time I visit now, I'm usually the only customer eating there. (huhu!) Anyways, I don't know how long this stall will stay at this stop. But, for as long as it is around, I'm going to order my Regular 8" with all the fixings + sauerkraut with a Cherry Coke.

Since it's a mouthful, we Elbizens have since referred to it as Bahay Sisigan. Yo Apung Piping, thank you for sharing your life-changing Kapampangan Sisig! Now that I live in the Metro, whenever I encounter any sisig dish (be it chicken, bangus, pork, or whatevs) I can't help but snort derisively. No way any of them would EVER measure up. Sigh.

An affordable diner making sure to have you filled in 100 pesos or less, Apung Pipin's is a must try for those who are looking to dine without having to spend way too much. Just be sure to get some water ready since Apung Piping's classic sisig is packed with heat - lots of it!
