While I liked most of their food, particularly their gyoza, a couple of my kids said they weren't too happy with what they ordered. The food, they said, wasn't bad. It was just ordinary. Different strokes for different folks, right? I found their prices fair and the place was an honest to goodness Japanese restaurant, not a fastfood joint. Anyway, a couple of months ago, the place was suddenly boarded up. I wasn't sure if it was permanently closed or what, but a barely readable sign said that the place was undergoing renovations. Fast forward to today and Bono Tei is back. I passed by and a man outside appeared to be connected to the restaurant. I asked him if there had been a change of ownership or management. He said no, everything was still the same. The renovation was just that, a renovation or upgrade to make their interior more appealing to diners. He also said that the owners had expanded the inside, allowing for more tables and chairs. I will probably give Bono Tei another shot, with or without my family. What do I have to lose, right?

This was one of the first we saw in the area that stayed open the whole day, even between lunch and dinner. They had the dishes we were looking for so we decided to satisfy our cravings here. We were the only ones at the restaurant at that time so service was very quick and prompt. I had ordered a sashimi order which was fresh enough for my liking. She had ordered a ramen bowl which she said she was happy about. I went for the basics, an Ebi Tempura which was fried with the right amount of batter but I wasn't a big fan of their sauce. I have yet to find another restaurant that serves better pancakes. I can have two (or three) pieces of their Classic (or walnut) pancake any time of the day. Like their pancakes, the other food on their menu is also good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Their spaghetti is delicious and so is the Best Taco in Town (the title is debatable though), and I'm assuming they're using one meat recipe for these. For those who are loyal to their 'Silogs, their Beef Tapa is a runaway winner. My current favorite though is the Spicy Chicken Fillet with Brown Rice Pilaf. The staff at their new location in SM Southmall (they transferred to the lower ground floor) seems to not have settled in yet. Only one person goes around to take orders or assist the customers while the others are always behind the counter and aren't as attentive and perky as they used to be. So, you end up eating gummy, soggy, cold noodles (bleh!). At Nadai Fujisoba, you can definitely taste the flavor of the noodles and the firmness of the noodles is just perfect! The dipping sauce is also seasoned just right; not too salty, not too sweet. I remember the first time I ate here was with my brother. He was so surprised that I just kept quiet and focused on my plate of Soba. It was that GOOD! If it is your first time to eat here, try their set meal called the 'Teisyuko Set.'
