Perfectly acceptable while casually reading the Sunday paper. It seems to be a very popular local haunt. We ordered the special of green eggs and ham and the mushroom and Avo smash. Both were absolutely delicious, generous portion sizes and so well presented. The eggs cooked perfectly on both dishes and just the right amount of seasoning. This place is an all day eatery with a fantastic wine and cocktail list to boot. We ordered the hotcake stack and sweet corn fritters with eggs. Given the amount of people they were serving we were surprised to get our meal within 15 minutes. Both meals pretty as a picture and the perfect size. I can't fault a thing with either meal, the ingredients matched perfectly. The hotcakes so light and fluffy with a delicious white chocolate cream on top and the sweet corn fritters (also like corn slice fried to crispy goodness) were simply amazing with perfectly poached eggs and dill cream. Now let's talk about the service - attentive and friendly. At one point someone came over the check we had received our coffee. We had, we just drank it so fast and the dirty cups were taken away so quickly our waitress hadn't noticed... Such a small and insignificant thing which made us notice how well we were taken care of. George Jones is definitely not what you would expect from a little inner suburban cafe with no competition around, but it has surpassed our expectations and we will be back many times to come.

The coffee was fantastic. Not burnt or bitter and needing no sugar to offset the taste. The staff were exceptional. They made us feel wanted even though the place was extremely packed and the turnover rate was high. They were up for a friendly chat and worked well as a team. We ordered the eggs benedict and the special of the day 'smashed avo with crispy pancetta'. Both dishes fantastic with the smashed avo winning out. A generous portion of smooth avocado mixed with feta and topped with pancetta and poached eggs. For a small local cafe this place definitely packed a punch. The food may not have been out of this world or gourmet but the staff made up for any misgivings. On the very left hand side, they had eggs on toast, the big breakfast, and smashed avo toast.  My friend and I decided to get the lamb shoulder moroccan salad which was shredded tender lamb (looked like pulled lamb, very fine and long strands), dotted with pomegranate seeds and submerged in sheep's yoghurt. It was nice but felt like it needed to be eaten with some bread, or pita bread. It seemed more of a side dish rather than breakfast/lunch or main dish so quite disappointing.  The roast chicken burger with 4 thin slices of chorizo, some jalapenos and some mayo was slightly larger than a slider and quite bland. I only liked the brioche bun but the filling was ok. My friend who was starving didn't eat all of her food.  The coffee was very weak and my friend did not like her white hot chocolate.  Service was ok. Split bills taken. We ordered the eggs Benny with bacon and the ricotta hot cakes. When the food arrived we were blown away. The eggs Benny had the creamiest sauce with perfect poached eggs atop a delicious sour dough infused with rosemary. The hot cakes though we're the star. Enormous with a huge helping of mascarpone, perfectly poached pears, lemon curd and sprinkled with biscuit crumbs. Order it! We will be back to try the rest of the menu.
