There's a number of branded gifts in here, including names such as Jellycat cuddlies and popular comical birthday cards with amusing captions. There are some beautiful quirky cushions in here too that I've seen sold in places such as Papyrus and Maia in Glasgow, so this place is up to scratch with its trendy stock. The staff are friendly should you have a problem but given its wide selection and compact, easily navigated size, you should find it easy trying to find a nice present for someone!

So you will find corners stuffed with pots and cooking tools, fireplaces, handtools towels etc. I would not be able to list them all. Most of the goods are decent quality and will get the job done. More importantly the scurrying employess will be able to tell you where to find what you need. If you are local and need something in the hardware category - get your butt in here.

The window displays are always more gift shoppy than hardwarey and they have a delightful Mothers Day display at the moment. I have noticed that women tend to use the nice, lovely front entrance to this store which leads them past the ornaments and candles and the men tend to prefer the manly back entrance which takes them straight to the manly goods such as hammers and saws and such like. Gibbs sells all manner of things and I don't know what most of them are supposed to be used for but they look very interesting! There are bizarre kitchen appliances and strange gardening implements and all sorts. I like to take a jaunt down to Gibbs for little things that I can't be bothered traipsing all the way to a supermarket for. Things like light bulbs and batteries. I also had my keys made different colours at Gibbs because I need 6 keys to get into my flat and trust me, after a few vinos it can be a struggle to remember which key goes with which lock. However if you are more adventurous with your hardware needs there are some strapping men kicking about who can help you pick the perfect chainsaw for that chainsaw related DIY project you are working on you manly mans man you, grrrrr!

It hosts a range of cards for special occasions, candles and the usual comely selection of gift shop goodies but all are of a higher class. The jewellerly looks like it's been made locally but it does not conform to any particular Scottish theme, giving an alternative to the kind of souvenirs available in this region. But the feminine country-kitchen nature of this homely business is also convenient for locals who don't want to travel into Ayr to purchase a last minute present for a loved one.

However the store mostly sells gifts and cards and a small collection of interesting jewelery. My favorite items in this store are the gifts for children. There are lovely little secret diaries and jewelry boxes for girls and wooden pull along toys for younger kids. Threads is a great shop to pick up an unusual gift for kids and adults alike but as with most stores of its kind some items can be a bit expensive.

The only minus is the size of the shop. It's quite small but is jam packed full of stuff and if it gets too busy (and it is very popular) you'll find yourself backing into the displays!

It specialises in new wicker creations, including wicker chairs for kids, wicker tables and you guessed it, wicker book cases! Great if you're looking to capture the old fashioned sewing room look in your house. but there's also some nice, modern patio furniture showcased, and tall wicker chairs perfect for dining room interiors. To the left of the store there is a stretch of wall dedicated to dolls houses of every colour and style imaginable. This was a nice touch, and handy for local collectors as they had some glorious wee Victorian dolls, complete with changes of clothes, and lovely Georgian style furniture to complete the collection. The dolls houses were magical, especially the ones in pastel colours. One in particular caught my eye, to which my friend retorted, "I'm not surprised, it's the garish one..." it is true I like an odd collection of stuff but the more unique the better! And you can't argue that these dolls houses have something old worldy about them, as well as looking moderately like they've been modelled on Phoebe's magic house in Friends. A great shop for furniture and toys that are a bit less clumsy in style than today's world offers, but although the step back in time felt nice my quest for the perfect wicker chair continues.

The furniture here is all amazing quality, from oak wardrobes to wicker baskets. This isn't just a furiture shop for regular people, it's also a shop for The Borrowers too as they have a huge selection of dinky wooden houses fully furnished. These little dolls houses are my favourite items in the shop, they take me straight down memory lane. They're all wooden and handcrafted which add a little bit more magic than the plastic mass produced ones that you see everywhere. You can even get little wooden accessories here too the furnish your dolls house too including a new bathroom suite and childrens rocking horse.
