They stock stunning glass vases and ornaments which are great presents for mums and other female relatives. They also have the cutest ever handmade baby clothes and toys, including fabric nursery books and watermelons made out of wool. I popped in for a quick browse and while they didn't have a gift that was suitable, they do have an awesome range of cards so I just grabbed one of those. They sell a lot of kids stuff (more than I remember from previous visits) but they also have jewellery, some cute mugs and some bath/soap kinds of things. The people working were super friendly and helped me find a suitable card. Prices are very reasonable and the selection is much nicer than your standard supermarket range. I think this is in the only gift shop in Clarkston now, and it's a nice break from the other charity/bookies which seem to line the Toll.

But this doesn't quite do justice to what you'll find in this little gem. Stuffed full of prints, mugs, t-shirts and cards, mostly made by local artists and designers, this is a perfect place to pick up a gift that's unique and special. I popped in here on Saturday afternoon and, as is normally the case, I had nothing in mind I just fancied a browse. After thumbing through some prints and objet d'art I spotted an awesome yellow and white laser-cut image. This now looks totally at home in my living room. Be prepared to rummage a little when you come in - not in a jumble sale kinda way, it's actually part of the charm of this shop. The owner is happy to let you browse, pick things up and wander around. You won't be rushed and the staff won't try to up-sell. If your purchase is a gift, they'll even wrap it for you. Most of the items are pretty affordable, starting at a few pounds but for some bespoke items are a bit more expensive. And a handy wee 20% Yelp discount when you check in makes it all the more affordable. I say tried because I may have been using the handy basket at the bottom of the buggy to hide all the books bought in Waterstones, meaning that the buggy weighed more than a family hatchback and actually couldn't be lifted even by two people and Puff just had to suck up bumped up the stairs. Also be prepared to pay for its location - as you'd imagine in Princes Square it can be pretty expensive.

Or could it be the amazing multicoloured disco floor that makes me want to don a white suit and channel John Travolta - I'm going to be John Travolta partially because I can't remember the female characters name but more because I hated her dress and would look way better in a white flared suit! I loved Paperchase when it was a wee section of Borders bookshop. I mourned for its loss when Borders disappeared from Buchanan Street and Glasgow Fort. But there are not enough words for me to convey the strength of my passion for this muckle shine to all that is stationery. Oh and the fact that buying stationery is never going to make me regret eating cake with mean and nasty changing room mirrors is purely coincidental.

EEEEP! new yarn shop in Glasgow :)…read more I spoke to the lady and she said she had been open for a couple of months and she is just about to start doing lessons, at first push of the door you might think its locked but its not - its just a bit sticky - it caught me and another customer out :) I wasn't in very long but there was a good selection of drops yarn and some other lovely yarns too - this is not a shop to pop in for your acrylics etc. they sell knitpics needles and the owner is lovely and friendly. its a good location just at the end of Trongate and you can walk to in in ten minutes from central station.
