jonathan burge = PILAU, no-class, LYING/DISHONEST lawyer! I am dead serious guys! I am laughing at all the five-star rating, because they are mainly related to DUI cases. I guess jonathan burge only specializes in caring for his dui offenders. Anyhow, what made me angry about this lawyer is that he blatantly LIED to me and my mother at the initial consultation meeting at his crumby office, that he would be present at my initial hearing. I retained jonathan burge for a false hit-run accident incident. I thought this guy would be a good lawyer. But boy was I WRONG! jonathan burge is your typical haole Californian (more-so L.A. So-Cal liar) boy who likes to LIE, give you the run-arounds, and don't communicate with you at all. jonathan stated at the initial consultation that he would be present at my court hearing. I asked him if he was going to be physically present at my initial hearing because he has a lawyer partner named daylan kealii takahashi who tends to not have a good reputation, and I did not want his partner to represent me at my hearing. jonathan burge, told me, with my mother present, that HE WILL be at my initial hearing. After hearing his word and completing our initial meeting, I paid him my $1000.00 retainer fee. That is also big money, and what still irks me about jonathan burge, is that he thinks he can lie to my face, and get away with taking $1000.00 retainer fee from his client - his source of income. Fast forward to the day before my intial court hearing, I called the office, spoke to the secretary/wife. I asked her if jonathan burge would be present tomorrow at my hearing for the hit-run accident case. She said yes, he would be there tomorrow in the courtroom. Come the morning of the day of my initial court hearing at Honolulu district court, I did not see jonathan in the designated district court room. My mother was also present with me that day, so I have proof of this guy lying, not being there at the court room. We got there early at 8AM, because the court session started at 8:30AM. When I entered the court room, I asked the bailiff if jonathan burge has checked in, ....and she said no. 8:20AM came and still no jonathan burge showing up. 8:30AM came, and still no jonathan burge, or anybody from his office!! Was this really happening to me?! I was really panicking because I had paid jonathan burge $1000.00 retainer fee and he was not going to show up to my court hearing ??!! WTF?! I left the court room, went outside, and then called his office. His wife/secretary (lol!) picked up the phone. I was frantic and asked her "where is jonathan burge?! He is late, and the court session is starting right now." She said she does not know where he is. I then asked her, "so is anybody going to show up to my court hearing?!" Came the time of 8:40AM. This is 10 minutes PAST the time where the judge enters the court room and bailiff asked everybody to stand up. Still no jonathan burge in the court room. I was getting really angry and upset. I called the office again, and demanded the wife/secretary to tell me where jonathan burge was, because I had paid a big amount of money to have him represent me for this hearing. I was livid, because no lawyers in my entire life has showed up LATE to a court hearing, or has been this unprofessional to their client. This is why jonathan burge does not deserve to practice law here in Hawaii where we practice Aloha and treat people with respect. He can take his blonde ass back to L.A./So-Cal where people deceive, lie and cheat each other as if it's a daily norm (I used to live in that manure pit called L.A....and have an inkling that jonathan may be from that manure pit) While I was talking to the office secretary/wife, jonathan burge calls me. I did not answer his call because I was on the phone with his wife/secretary. After I ended my conversation with his wife/secretary...I listened to my voicemail from jonathan burge. You guys will not believe this! This guy left me a NASTY voicemail, telling me not to yell at his wife/secretary, which of course, was false. I never yelled or raised my voice at his wife/secretary. Wow, jonathan burge, you are such a PILAU person to leave this kind of message on my cell phone! Come 8:45AM, in walks some dilapidated looking guy. And guess what people? That guy was jonathan burge's partner, daylan kealii takahashi! He did not even bother to greet or look at me. Just walked into the court room, walked passed me and my mother, and went straight to the bailiff desk area. You know, at least jonathan should have been honest with me, and told me that takahashi was going to show up to my court hearing. But it's not just that. Daylan showed up to the court room LATE! LATE! LATE! Did is just say, "LATE?!" Daylan did not even apologize to me or my mothe for showing up late. This is totally UNPROFESSIONAL what you guys did to me that day, and I will NEVER forget the NASTY voicemail, jonathan, that you've left on my cell phone!!! read more

I met with Johnathan Burge; he is very knowledgeable of how the criminal system operates and utilizes his talents to address the core problems for the first DWI. A year ago, on May 29, 2020, I was pulled over in Sand Island, alcohol test against my will yet the police told me I was going to arrested was slightly above a notch above the legal limit. Although I failed the walk test, not to my alcohol consumption, it was the result of a medical injury sustained in my left leg in 2017 while in a crosswalk from a car-pedestrian incident. Harassment or just didn't like me eating, regardless It cost me a tow yet I still persevered. The two cases were dropped by the State of Hawaii, however, the revocation hearing continued with months of delays and police officers who never appeared to attend Zoom under subpoena. Despite the wait and financial blitz, I cried days before the hearing until I spoke to him personally before Bible Study this past Monday. My life changed after those two encounters last year, I put my life in Jesus Christ, my salvation to Heavenly Father. Police Officers who abide by the law, it's okay, however, there are those just a bit zealous. I need to change my car, it tends to attract people, good and unrighteous, I prayed fervently in tongues, never giving up. I knew Jonathan was the right person for the job! Johnathan is an honest person and God has blessed me with one of the best in his profession. I was pulled over at a sobriety checkpoint where the police, in my opinion, were over zealous in wanting to cite someone with DUI. There are people that have 2 beers and cannot even talk and then there are those that can handle a few beers. I understand the law is the law and I do not expect special treatment, but I was totally in control the night I was pulled over at a check point. I passed the tests given to me, but when I refused to blow into the machine I was immediately arrested. Once at the station they pressured me into testing. They say they don't pressure, but they do. Jonathan Burge was the second attorney I met with. The first one was a very nice guy, impressive resume, etc but his rate was $7K. Ouch. I know, I know what kind of price can you put on a DUI defense right? When I spoke with John on the phone he informed me of the cost, payment schedule if needed, and set up a date and time for an initial consultation. After discussing the events that took place that evening he pretty much informed me what to expect as well as what the police did that was unconstitutional. He felt good about the chances of getting my case dismissed, bit not once ever did he guarantee it. I went to 3 different court appointments and was dismissed on the 3rd one. John informed me that I had a good case, and if need be, we would appeal as he felt fairly strong it would be dismissed on appeal. Thankfully it didn't have to go that far. If you ever get arrested for a DUI you want someone in your corner who you can depend on. The only down side I felt was the lack of discussions prior to court. Maybe it was because he knew what was happening behind the scenes? I don't know. Maybe I was just nervous and was looking for reassurance? I don't know. Bottom line is he came through for me. The key to all of this is just don't put yourself into a position to where the police pull you over to start with. In other words don't drink and drive. Be safe. We all have loved ones out there. You call jonathan burge a "lawyer"? An "Attorney"?! Bwahahaah! This guy is a joke! He is one of the "give me your money, and I will do what I want to do" type of attorney. Happened to me with my DUI case back in the second-half of year 2019. Got arrested for DUI in October 2019, and then made a big mistake of retaining this crook, jonathan burge. He should get his law license revoked. Took my $1000 retainer fee. Lied to me that he will show up to my hearing at traffic court/district court in downtown. Did not show up to my court hearing. Instead, he sent his crooked partner, Daylani takahashi to my court hearing, and the guy showed up LATE after the court bailiff started to call up cases. Luckily I never had a warrant out for me. Unlike these other yelpers who have been a same victim like me, where jonathan never showed up to our scheduled court hearing. I have had other traffic attorneys assist me with cases in the past. Never had I experienced any unprofessional, lying, dishonest attorney, like jonathan burge! Notice, also, how this guy gets a hissy fit when us former clients leave him negative and harsh reviews for his laughable law business. Usually, when owners of a business get negative review, no matter how harsh the negative review is, the owner of the business responds and apologizes for the negative/bad experience. But nope. Not jonathan burge. Heard through the coconut wireless from friends who are retired HPD cops, that he used to work for Honolulu police department, and he quit the police profession because was lousy, and hardly any cop ever wanted to work with this two-faced liar. Just look at jonathan's law work. Poor quality, disorganized. The dirty laundry list goes on. Hopefully, jonathan quits being a dishonest, two-faced lawyer. $2000 well spent. Got into a bit of a rough start when first getting to Hawaii. Glad to say it's turning around thanks to this guy. Got a DUI when first getting here. After that a ton of mail came through to me from attorneys but his stuck out the most out of everyone's. His was telling me everything that was going on with me at the moment and what was going to happen within the future. Within his mail he was already giving me advice from the jump before I even hired him which shows he was very generous about his information. Once having a sit down with him he explained everything, the good, the bad, what will, can, and how this case will go. He also had a well put establishment with very helpful assistants. I took that into consideration about the case and hired him. What's even more crazier is that one of my friends was one of his clients earlier through time and his case didn't go out all too well. Little discouraging, but still had faith in him. His assistants were very helpful with everything from letting me know what paper work needed to be done to sending emails and reminders about my the the things that need to be done before my court date. Even set me up with a pay plan. Once going to court I've noticed he was very well prepared having everything he needed on his iPad compared to the rest of the lawyers who were still having folders and briefcases on their clients. At first I was discouraged at court because he was a little bit late but in the end he showed up ready to go with the judge. Thankfully cops didn't show up both times at court and he won both my license back and got it scrubbed off my record. Couldn't thank him enough for his work and craft. Jonathan Burge is definitely the man to call! I received my 2nd DUI in a road block back in December 2015. Today is 7/8/16 and I'm happy to share that I went down to his office yesterday to fill out my expungement form!! As I said, I've gone down this road before, and although the case was won the first time also, my experience was extremely different. I had a different attorney and was basically left hanging and stressed the whole time, for over a year. Jonathan is a straight up attorney. Jonathan and keali'i had helped me win my case, they got my DUI expunged from my record, and was able to drop one count of no insurance... my no insurance would of costed me $3,000 and my DUI, I would of had to pay $1,500 for a breathalyzer test to put in my car... now because they helped me win, all I have to pay is $500 for one count of no insurance, and show proof of 6 month of car insurance and my CDL license will not be suspended... plus they are very lenient, they worked with me the hole way, when it came to my payments... but now I get to keep my job thanks to jonathan and his law office... I had a dui. Blew .154. He filed a lot of motions against breath test. Judge was not going to grant it. Rather than just plead out like some others here I asked him to fight it all the way. He did and I won everything. Don't believe the people who say he does not fight. He knows his stuff and did a great job for me. Judge seemed to know and respect him. He first won my ADLRO case which allowed me to keep my license even though I didn't blow in the breathalyzer. This is usually an automatic 2 year license suspension.
