I was referred for testing for autism. I explained my symptoms and family history. She told me that…read moreit seemed like a needed a different job instead. She informed me most high functioning people experience no problems in the workplace, school and their personal lives so she didn't see the point. This was while I was on FMLA from work for issues at work. She also asked me if I was trying to get on full disability (I'm not on disability and at no point did I say that I wanted to be). That was the only reason she would bother with testing. And I clearly wasn't that bad and I didnt want to be on full disability did I? At this point I was crying and she asked me why because it seemed like I was more upset now then when the appointment started. I said she was being invalidating and that what she was saying wasn't right. She then pushed me multiple times to get on a SSRI. I finally had to get incredibly firm and say no A few months later, I was evaluated and diagnosed with autism and dyslexia by a different doctor. I will never see Dr. Hopp again. It was truly a perfect example of why women go so long without being diagnosed. I hate that people like this are still in healthcare. Her antiquated take of mental health hurts people. Don't waste your copay.

I was a middle aged professional that just lost it and didn't know if I would ever 'come back to the real world'. I saw a couple of psychiatrists that didn't listen and just wanted to drug the depression out of me. Then I saw Dr. Hopp. She was realistic, knew what might work best of me, and helped me through the most difficult part of my life. She is highly competent and driven to serve her patients as best she can. She helped save my life and I am very grateful for that,
