Dr. Hott is a horrible surgeon. He smashed my spine and then blamed me. He threaten to ruin my life after I filed a complaint. He hired multiple private investigators and illegally obtained nude pictures of me from some unnamed source.He repeatedly asked a judge to put me in prison because he said my complaints were an acts of harassment. I have had multiple surgeries to try and repair the damage he did to my spine. He sent me an email threatening my life detailing how he was going to take me down. Any doctor who would go after their patient after they mutilated their spine and try to inflict more pain and ruin their life is completely evil. Dr. Hott has been sued multiple times even while he was at Barrows. If you were also a victim of Dr. Hott, I encourage you to file a complaint with the Arizona Medical Board. Dr. Hott will probably hire attorneys to try to ruin your life too, but it's important to warn the public. read more

Dr. Hott operated on a family member and several people I know very well. He is a compassionate human being, and he is a gifted surgeon. His results have been extraordinary. And, unlike a lot of doctors, he takes all the time a patient needs to understand their particular situation and the various options to help them recover. He is conservative and not one to rush people into the operating room. He'll do anything he can to make surgery a last resort. Dr. Hott is as wonderful as all the other reviews mentioned. I RARELY ever meet a doctor I really like, especially a specialist. They are usually abrupt, rush you or talk down to you. Dr. Hott has a wonderful bedside manner. He took the time to answer my questions, was compassionate when I got a bit emotional, showed me my images and didn't rush me at all. He was even honest in saying the surgery I needed would be done best by someone else who does it more often. He told me I would really like the person he was referring me to. I have now met that person and he is indeed very nice as well and seems quite competent and experienced. Dr. Hott treated me very well and I would recommend him to anyone. I've already told my primary care to refer anyone who needs a neurosurgeon consult to send them to Dr. Hott, and my primary knows how picky I can be about doctors. read more

I was referred to Dr. Hott from a family friend and I have to say that I am so grateful to have met such an extraordinary doctor. He had done my mom's back surgery and it was a success!! Then he saw me about 10 years ago when I was 20 years old, telling me if I can try so many other things before having a surgery since I was really young. He never pressured and always was transparent on everything that I had concerns of. Finally 10 years later, in March 2021, he did my L5-S1 fusion. I would have had it no other way with certainly no other surgeon touching my back! Before my surgery, I had seen a different doctor highly recommended at Barrows with the whole covid-19 since it was complicated to do elective surgeries so that did a consult, and you know what, I stuck to Dr. Hott because he knew exactly what I have been needing the whole time and never tried to talk me into getting stuff that is not needed to avoid surgery at this time in my life. Dr. Hott made me feel so confident in my choice, knowing that there are many risks with it, that he told me don't overthink and you are in great hands. I call it magical hands today!!! Surgery was my only way to fix my problem and he FIXED IT!!! When I woke up from the surgery, the pain in my foot, was completely gone. I had not realized how big the scars were, but you know what, it is worth having knowing now that I am up and walking and able to stand for more than just 5 minutes without being in pain, is the best thing I could have asked for. I can now keep up with my 3 children and finally wake up with no pain. I cannot thank this doctor enough for giving me my old self back, physically and mentally with a big smile on my face. We are now 4 months later and slowly back at the gym. I am almost 30 years old and so happy to have listened to his advice back then and to listen to it again now. Him and his staff where just phenomenal when it came to any questions I had making sure I was taken care of. I felt like a family member to them and not just a patient. I had been in excruciating pain for like seemed forever. I went to my PCP with my symptoms and I was given a topical along with a referral to a Pain Management Doctor. Well, once at the Pain Management - I had my nerves burned in my back. It was one painful procedure and two surgeries by which I was put under with a very expensive bill that I am still paying on. I was also given some prescriptions by which the one was greatly appreciated for it did indeed alleviate some of the pain. Then I was referred to the neurosurgeon - Dr. Hott. Dr. Hott spent the time with me going over in great details the MRI indicating to me the reason(s) why I was in so much pain. We had originally scheduled a surgery but I had to cancel due to taking a new job. But the pain continued and as soon as I could reschedule the surgery - I did. I was so afraid that I would not wake up from the surgery. I was so afraid to go under. But - With the comforting and the great detail that Dr. Hott had given me - I was more comfortable at the date of the surgery. After the surgery - It was a miracle. When I first seen Dr. Hott at the hospital I had to give him a great big hug. I could not explain in words alone how I had been given my life back again, the life that I once knew. I had been in such agony, pain, and discomfort - That I never even wanted to attend functions for I just was not myself and I was irritable and not good company. Now I can live again. My sister said to me - "Welcome back Wendy." Dr. Hott is my GOD. What he has done for me - I will never be able to thank him enough. Let me also state that indeed the issue was not the back. Dr. Hott worked on C3 to C7 removing and replacing 4 discs with a long plate holding all in place on the anterior side (front of neck) with 8 screws accessing all through an incision in my neck. For me that sounds awful but believe me - It is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I highly recommend anyone and all who are having issues that may need to see a Dr. for Neurological Surgery - Dr. Hott is the one to go to. His office staff is also wonderful. They go out of their way to demonstrate interest in one's experience, making one feel comfortable, and most of all - The wait time to see Dr. Hott has always been minimal. read more

Dr Hott and his office staff were absolutely fantastic! Appointments were on time and efficient. Dr Hott was responsive and answered questions in a manner we were able to understand. Most importantly, the surgery went very well. The physical therapist we used post surgery wanted to get Dr Hott's information in case they needed the surgery I had in the future. I will keep this short. I saw Dr. Hott who is a neurosurgeon for my back pain. He not only takes TIME and talks with you about everything, he is very passionate and sweet. He told me that he's going to treat me as if I was his sister or daughter. He did my spinal surgery last year and I couldn't be happier. He was on time, honest and up front, and he's got great character as a person. He really cared about me and my well being. His business manager Kathy is just as awesome. I went to Dr Hott for a second opinion when back fusion was recommended by my doctor. He and his staff were very welcoming and friendly -his office has a nice soothing atmosphere. I am in the medical field and know how increasingly difficult it is to find a good surgeon. I was involved in a car accident about 5 years ago in which one of my vertebrae was pushed up against my spinal cord. It wasn't an emergency where it needed to be fixed right away. I also had injuries associated with age and lifting. Over the last 5 years my mobility and pain worsened. By the time I came to Dr. Hott I was a mess. It has been about 2 months since I had my cervical fusion and I cannot believe how great I feel! Not only is the sharp nerve pain gone, but my muscle tension and spasms have stopped as well. My experience with Dr. Hott has been nothing but positive. I'm a 49 year old male who was experiencing severe nerve pain in my left arm. The pain was intense and it caused me to be miserable and unable to sleep for a little over a month. I met with Dr. Hott and discussed my situation and we went over the MRI. I had a severely herniated C-7 disc along with 2 mildly herniated discs. (C-5, C-6) The decision was made to move forward with a C 5-7 fusion. Dr. Hott took his time and explained everything in layman's terms which made it all easy to understand. He went over what to expect before, during, and after the surgery. After completion of the fusion, I had immediate pain relief and have not had any pain since before the surgery. I was given a referral by my Neurologist to see Dr. Hott. I immediately took my referral and MRI disc to his office and was told he would review and call me. Several days later I called his office and was told he was reviewing my MRI. The same thing occurred the following Monday with me being told it was on his desk and he would review it that afternoon. I called again today to be told that he only comes in on Wednesdays, and that appointments were out to December. Totally not at all what I was originally told, and when I confronted the lady on the phone, it seemed as though she really did not care. Not the type or quality of doctor I want or need to fix a problem that needs immediate surgery. read more
