Not to be ignored is his staff. His staff is just as courteous and understanding. I read reviews putting them down - but I beg to say, the person writing such a review, doesn't quite have an understanding of what to expect from an office staff in such a delicate yet fast-moving environment, attending to phones, patients, and any requests of the doctor... You walk in, and they ask you to pee in a disposable plastic cup with no lid, write your name on a piece of tape, and leave it on a desk in the open air. The nurse was nice, but I have never been belittled by a doctor the way I was here. Extremely rude, passive-aggressive, condescending, and arrogant while working in this dump of a place. I've recently moved to New York and came from seeing some of the top doctors in California, but she tried to convince me those doctors didn't know what they were talking about. I proceeded to tell her my conditions and the reasons I came in (which shouldn't make me special -- literally everyone who comes to a doctor is in need of help, so the standard practice should be kindness). Instead, she made fun of my pain and gaslit my conditions. I had to walk out mid-appointment because of Dr. Krym's attitude. I let her know she was extremely rude and that I was obviously coming in because I was in pain and needed help. She kept back-talking until the door slammed on my way out. Made an appointment for last Thursday, and Irina, the friendly receptionist called me back twice to…read moreconfirm that my circumstances have not changed, and that I'm feeling well to come in. I was told that the office is not taking patients, but they can see me, since I have not been for a check-up in over two years. When I got there at 9:55am, I was greeted by Marina, a billing staffer, who was helping out on front desk in Irina's absence. Marina kept running to Dr. Vernikova after every patient call, and the questions that she was asking,--even I knew the answer to. Such constant running back and forth to ask Dr. V. questions that any receptionist should know was annoying, since my time with Dr. V. kept being interrupted. When my check-up concluded at 10:15am, four more patients were waiting at the reception area. I guess this office is seeing patients, and the business must go on. So if you need a check-up with PHP, this is your office. Just check what insurance they accept. They accept Medicaid, but stopped accepted United Healthcare. I got the results of my bloodwork on a Tuesday, so just a few days after my appointment, which is pretty swift. Zoya Vernikova has been my, my mother's, my best friend's, and my best friend's mother's doctor for quite a long time. She genuinely cares about her patients and always shows deep interest in their well-being. I dread any kinds of doctors and medical procedures, but Dr. Vernikova is the only doctor who puts me at ease. I feel safe to open up with her and express everything that is on my mind. Her bedside manner is very gentle and attentive. She noticed the enlarged veins on my legs during one visit and ordered a test, which another doctor performed that same day in the office. The results confirmed varicose veins [which runs in the family] and Dr. Vernikova went over a series of preventative measures to help avoid future complications with that condition. Just a word of caution. Dr. Verknikova is very caring, yet her manner is very straightforward, so that can rub many patients the wrong way. For example, when my mother, who has two incompatible types of cancers, which baffle all doctors who learn of such impossibility, came for a check-up, Dr. V. said, "my deepest sympathies, now we have to pray." That clearly is not very encouraging to a sick patient who has heard the worst already and is expecting some support and hope to keep fighting. Also, when I was in for my appointment, Dr. V. was talking on a phone with a family member of an old, sick patient who was battling coronavirus and was denied being admitted to a hospital due to his age and pre-existing medical conditions. Dr. V. was very straightforward, saying there's a 50/50 chance and there's nothing else that can be done. The person on the phone kept asking for some sort of reassurance, but Dr. V.'s manner was brisk and impersonal, as if she just told someone that tomatoes are healthier than cucumbers, not that someone's loved one has 50/50 chance of surviving. The office uses Patient Fusion, an easy online platform where you can schedule appointments, check results of your medical tests & procedures, and talk with your doctor about any concerns you might suddenly have, from the comfort of your couch. The reason why I'm taking off a star is for the above mentioned stories and for the wait time before an appointment. If you come after 4pm--brace yourself--you'll be in for a looooooong wait. Bring a book. I once waited for almost two hours on a Monday evening after work. Make early morning appointments if you'd like to get out of here without aging in the waiting room.

Overall, I feel that if a primary physician runs your yearly tests, interprets them correctly and is competent in record keeping, referrals and listening to the patients concerns, that's good enough for me . This is by FAR the worst doctor I have EVER been to in my whole life. He referred me to a few doctors for a few extra tests. Nothing serious. He NEVER got back to me as far as the results of those tests. I had to go back to his office TWICE because when I asked for a cologuard test, he said "you'll receive the kit in the mail". I never did. I called Cologard and they asked me if I ever signed a Cologuard form at the doctor's office. I said no. They said he was supposed to have me sign a form. SO another Uber ride and more waste of time and money. I went there, signed the form and went home. THEN, after a month or so, I called Cologard and asked for my results. They stated that only my doctor could give me the results. I called his office NINE TIMES to leave messages with his NASTY, RUDE and MEAN secretaries and they said they would tell him to get back to me. STILL haven't heard from him. ALSO, when he sent me for my blood work, I told him that I always did a Vitamin D test every year with all my other doctors. He gave me a condescnding look and said I don't need that. I said I want it. SO, I go the the lab to get my blood and urine work done. Got the results and NO Vitamin D test. He said I don't need it. I only went to this doctor once. From day one, he was condescending and arroant. That started the moment I got there and he asked me if I had my COVID and Flu shots. I told him that I do not take any vaccines EVER. That is my choice. I said it nicely. His response was "WELL, I CAN SEE THIS IS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM". Hid whole demeanor changed and everything since then has been a horrible experience. He made things IMPOSSIBLE from that point on. Getting medical records, results, blood tests, Cologuard. He just will not respond. In my honest opinion, he told he secrertaries to be nasty to me when I call. That would be the thing to do if you do not want to see a patient again. I only saw him once and it has been a disaster. ALSO, he is NOT a very intelligent doctor. Then my girlfriend saw him on her own a week or two after me. We switched to him because we both moved to an area in NYC far from our previous and WONDERFUL Primary Physician. So, SHE went to him and he went on and on to her about MY personal health issues, our incompatibility as far as doctor to patient chemistry. He told her that he sent me to a cardiologist ( I went to one that I picked and he was pissed. Fortunately all those tests were fine.). When I saw him, he gave me an echocardiogram and told me I had valve damage and wanted to send me to HIS cardiologist. The reviews of the one he referred me to sucked, so I did a lot of research and found my own. .So, I went to the BEST Cardiologist in NYC who specializes in HEART VALVE DAMAGE, VALVE REPLACEMEMT AND VALVE REPAIR. This saint of a doctor showed me the results of HIS Echocardigram and the one that this HORRIBLE doctor sent him and showed me how badly the test was done and how innacurate it was. NOW, GET THIS. My GF went to him for a reaction to a medication he put her on for her Blood Pressure meds. HE said her aches, pains, weakness etc had NOTHING to do with her BP meds. DURING that visit, he told her everything about MY medical history, the cardiologist I went to and everything else under the sun about me. CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS? DID HE EVER HEAR ABOUT DOCTOR/PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY? I NEVER told my GF that this moron said I had a bad heart valve (which I do not). My GF is a retired REGISTERED NURSE and she is a WORRIER. She came home from her visit YELLING at me and DEMANDING for an explanation as to why I didn't tell her about my supposed heart condition. That is MY choice. I didn't want her to worry until I saw a top notch heart surgeon who specializes in HEART VALVE SURGERY and DIAGNOSIS. SO, there is NOTHING wrong with my heart. But THIS moron of a doctor told my GF during HER visit and she went ballistic on me. Just take it from me, this doctor in my opinion and experience with doctors my whole life, is not only a bad doctor in terms of diagnosing and treating patients. He is an arrogant moron who, if you say you don't want vaccines, turns on you like a wild animal. His office staff is HORRIBLE except for ONE wonderful woman named CECILIA. She is just perfect. The other two , one name Mary and the other I think is Muriel, were RUDE as hell, never passed on my messages to him (or he ignored them) and hung up on me each and every time they heard my voice.
