After witnessing the poor decisions made by the student under the supervision of this driving school, it is clear that the instructors are subpar to say the least. You do not drive below the speed limit in the left lane for extended periods of time. If your student is nervous, they should be in the right lane at all times except to make a left turn. Not driving in that lane for over a mile causing a traffic jam. Please do better. read more

The staff is incredibly rude to the children. We were aware before sending our child here they weren't the nicest, but with my most recent they were ridiculous. They wouldn't let her in for her clothes even though they were in dress code, but because her legs were still showing they were upset. They are very sexist when it comes to the dress code and only target the young girls. In class, my daughter would talk about the offensive jokes the instructor would make pertaining to either sexism or racism, and he made her uncomfortable. She also stated that the instructor often made students feel dumb, yelled at students, and even belittled teenagers who were not in the class and mocked them to the students calling them "idiots". They are extremely high and mighty, even though they have a 1.9/5 star review on yelp. It is surprising they haven't received the hint for the past 5+ years. read more

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I can not believe that a person like Mr. Jones, who obviously does not like teenagers, would choose a profession working with them. He is rude and disrespectful and his attitude is filtering down to his staff. I paid to have my daughter receive the written and driving portion. She passed the written and drove for 5 1/2 hours and he said she was rude (REALLY) and told her to pull over and he drove the rest of the way. She had 3 driving session and he did not tell us that he was having any problems with her. So since she did not complete 6 hours, he was not going to certify her for the driving portion. WOW. So he will not give any $$$ back nor certify my child. If it is 100 miles out of the way. Go to another school, in the end it will be worth it. read more

I am really disappointed with this driving school. When I called to inquire about getting my child started (driving portion only), I was told there was no availability for the next 3.5 weeks, pushing us into August. I had no issue with the wait time but what frustrated me was that the person I spoke with couldn't, wouldn't or better yet refused give me a definite start date. They make you sign a contract which is fine but who in their right mind would sign a contract and pay without even knowing when their child can begin driving? That just doesn't make sense. When I asked how long the contract was good for, I was told you have six months to complete the driving portion. Six months?? That's an incredibly long time to drag out a process that should be straightforward. On top of all that, the staff member I spoke with wasn't helpful and couldn't explain how they don't already know the schedules of their instructors. She also acted as if I was bothering her by asking her legitimate questions. The lack of transparency, disorganization, and poor communication really turned me off. My son had a driving test today. When he got back, the instructor pulled us into the back room. I have anxiety and I was trying to figure out if my son had passed. The man said "You're more worried about if he passed than what your son did wrong." I told him that it was giving me anxiety. That he could just tell me if he passed or not and then tell me what he did wrong so we can work on it. He said "No I'll tell you at the end." I felt he was being rude and he made me feel stupid. I called to complain after I went home and I was told that I should have stopped and talked to somebody in the office. I guess I talked to the owner on the phone. I told him I have an anxiety disorder and I didn't wanna make a scene. He said we're adults there would be no scene. I told him I had anxiety and I was already crying so no, I was not trying to stay there and make a scene. These people are rude and I will never go back. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!! Please read all reviews on Google, Yelp and BBB. I wish I would have, this place should be SHUT DOWN! The owner Donnell Jones (Driving Instructor) and his girlfriend Belinda Knox (Office Secretary) are deliberately the most disrespectful people. They failed my son's driver test due to failure to make a complete stop at a yield sign when turning right when no one was coming. Mr Jones explained to me that the state of Georgia takes yield signs very seriously, that it is a $400 ticket, and his license would be taken away until he was 21 years old. When I asked if cars were coming, he said, no, that the light determines if you stop or not, so if the light is red, you stop at a yield no matter what, stating that he needed to make a complete stop like a stop sign. He yelled at my son in the car, "saying that I know we taught you better than that." For reference the lane he was turning on to had its own lane to then be used to merge and there were no oncoming cars. Also to be noted, Mr Jones never had to use his brakes on his side of the car, as there was no danger of a collision at any time. I was shocked as I had never heard these rules before. I called Columbia County Sheriff's Office and once they were involved, both Belinda and Mr. Jones became very irate even with the officer, stating that he did not owe anyone an explanation of his decision. There was nothing that could be done, it was our word against his. This was very upsetting for a first-time driver to have to go through this. They are obviously not teaching the correct rules of the road. I spent the next two weeks making sure my son knew the correct rules and he took his test with the DMV and passed. read more

I sent my daughter for driving lessons and all she came back with were complaints about unprofessional conduct the staff. The demeaning way in which the lessons are taught is beyond me. And dropping sideways insults like " if you don't pass the road test the first time you should not be driving" is an awful way to build confidence in a student. read more

My daughter called Jones Driving School in Grovetown today to ask what their social distancing policies are for the May classes. Mr. Jones himself answered the phone and refused to tell her. He told her he doesn't talk to children. As a parent, I encourage my children to make general inquiries such as this to help prepare them for adulthood. She is nearly 17 and is quite capable. As a potential student, she has a right to know what precautions are being made for her safety. I called Mr. Jones myself and he was extremely rude. He told me he was too old to talk to children. How is this man supposed to teach with this attitude? I have sent two of my children to this school before without incident. I will not send another. read more

If I could give no stars I would. The staff is SO rude. My husband and I had both called multiple times to find out what dates were available for the MSF course and the woman at the front desk, Belinda, was very disrespectful to us both. I registered for the basic rider course- was actually supposed to start the course this evening- instead I got a phone call this morning informing me that the course was canceled because I was the only one that signed up. When I called back to get more information about why and that I was not informed there was a minimum amount of people for the class and if that wasn't met then I'd have to either reschedule or get a refund. This woman would not allow me to say anything to her that wasn't "refund or reschedule", she then told me she'd have Mr. Jones call me when he came in and then HUNG UP ON ME. This man was just as rude as she was, he didn't ask me any questions or anything, just immediately asked me where to send my refund to, told me he couldn't refund it to my card so they'd send me a check. If they treat adults this way, I cannot even imagine how horrendous they treat children that go to their facility.. read more

I went with a friend to register our two sons for driving school at Jones. Absolutely appalling customer service from the moment we walked in the door. Bad energy, very rude, & demeaning people working here. We will be taking our teenagers to Brock's. We read the reviews, which were mostly horrible, but went anyways. Terrible mistake. Let me start off by saying that if I could give this place zero stars, I would. First I called to find out what dates and how much the class would be. Mr. Jones himself answered the phone and stated it would be on February 2nd. When I went to go in and pay and stated that I would like to register for the February 2nd class, he had a major attitude and said well there's only a class on February 9th not the second and I said that's fine. Then while I'm on my shift in the ER, I get multiple calls stating that I was correct and they were wrong, class was on February 2nd. I said that's fine. When I arrive to class, I'm exactly 7 mins late, Mr. jones has a big time attitude at the door stating I'm late and going on and complaining. I apologize several times , (since I came from atl after a 11-11:30 pm ER shift, so got home after 1:30am, )and class starts. As I'm sitting and watching the video, he asks me have I answered the questions in the book, I replied I did (I didn't realize we were allowed to right in the book because he didn't tell me) and he goes on and says this isn't going to work out. I'm going to give you your money back. Why for some reason this man had a problem with me, I have no idea. But save your money against this guy and his business and go somewhere else. He's rude and horrible and thinks he can treat someone any way he wants to. I ask myself did you treat me this way because I'm Indian? I have no idea but horrible horrible man. read more

I love Jones driving school. My son had trouble passing the test because he is a very functional autistic teenager, but still has trouble with multiple-choice tests. If it was not for Ms. Belinda and Mr. Jones I am not sure what we would have done. They are awesome and so is the person that is teaching him to drive. I wish I knew his name. He had no business even mentioning her name, let alone stating his opinion of her driving skills. I wish I could give negative stars as a review but since I can't I have begrudgingly given 1 star. I have never been talked to so rudely by anyone else in my life. My 2 sons took the classroom part in July 2021. They were not called and added to Jones Driving School's driving schedule until November 28, 2021. The boys were able to to take 2 driving lessons each. Then I got COVID-19 and was very sick for quite a while. I actually got COVID-19 three times between December 2021 and today. My whole family had COVID-19 at one point. During this whole time I would call to schedule the remaining driving lessons for both of my sons. No one would answer the phone so I would leave a message, only to have no one return the call. So I would call again and have to leave another message with the same response...NONE. Then I would be sick again and have to wait until I and everyone else in my family was well again before I started calling them back. Only to get no response. So finally after calling and calling someone answered the phone, only to tell me that I had waited too long to reschedule the last driving lessons. That I hadn't rescheduled with the 6 month period of my contract with them. I tried to explain that I had called several times, left several messages and that I and my family had contracted COVID-19. That I had gotten it 3 times myself. But to no avail. I was told my sons could not finish the driving part. So I went by there today to speak to someone about this situation in person. While there and trying to tell my side and reason with Mr Jones I was accused of trying to stir up a commotion at the front of his business in front of other customers. Now you need to be aware of the fact that Mr Jones was behind his desk in another room and I was standing at the window to that room talking to him. I wasn't allowed to go in the back to talk to him that's where only employees can go. Then Mr Jones gets up and raises his voice at me and says "Get back here!" When I followed him to a room he proceeded to turn around and tell me that he doesn't care what my excuse is, that he's talked to me multiple times and the answer is NO! I tried to say that I had only spoken to him once about this situation. He then proceeded to Raise his hands at me and tell me that he doesn't care what my excuses are that he's not going to change his mind. That the situation was over and he wasn't talking about it anymore, to be quiet about it. That he's been doing this for 19 years and that he was tired of hearing about COVID-19. That's all he's heard about for the last 3 years, was COVID, COVID, COVID. He basically accused me of lying to him. So in a moment of anger I said "Fine then just give me their damn certificates!" So he gets to hollering at me to get out, that he's not going to be giving me anything now. And when I tried to say you're right that I should have not used a curse word to him. He says that he's not talking to me anymore and he started hollering at me again to get out. That I was using abusive and demeaning language and he wasn't going to take it. I've never been so disrespected as a customer by a business owner before. You can't handle customers this way. I'm surprised that he's been in business for 19 years if this is how he treats his customers. I understand that you have rules and stipulations but there are times that extenuating circumstances have to be taken into consideration. I mean really there's a pandemic going on. They wouldn't schedule driving sessions more than a week out. Their office staff was rude and condescending on the phone and in person. Warning: Mr. Jones will be in the car with your child, possibly making your kid extremely nervous and uncomfortable while he or she operates a vehicle on local roads. This situation seems very unsafe to me. He also administers the test. My daughter took one 4-hour class in the classroom. On the way home that night after class she told me how he belittled many of the students and said condescending things to make people feel stupid for missing questions. My daughter asked for an explanation to a quiz question and Mr. Jones laughed at her. Later, he said, "Don't be like this girl and read too much into the questions", pointing at my daughter. She said she had never felt so small in her entire life. She was crying by this point while telling me this. She told me he used the word "dumb" when referring to students answering certain questions incorrectly. I confronted him on all of this the following day and he denied it. I asked for a new instructor and he immediately offered me a refund, stating, "I don't normally give refunds". He said he'd give me a refund for the amount minus the time he spent teaching and a $25 refund fee. I went to shake his hand and he said, "I don't have to shake your hand." I said, "I'm not surprised." and walked out. He replied, "I'm not surprised either." I couldn't believe how utterly rude this man was. I waited nearly two weeks and finally sent him an email asking about the refund. I received it five days later. My daughter says he routinely started the class late (15 minutes late the first hour), then spent the first hour of class on introductions. There were also 15 minute breaks between class hours. My son went here a couple of years ago, and recently confirmed that Mr. Jones was very rude, especially to kids who struggled. My son said he didn't complain at the time and just dealt with it, but that the driving practice and test were true tests of emotional control and will power because Mr. Jones made him feel so inadequate and nervous. We do not recommend Jones Driving School. I wish I had read these other reviews before signing the contract. read more

The accident was not caused by reckless driving, driving under the influence, texting, etc. Their tire ran off the road on an old road in Harlem. That's all. When I tried to register my friend for a motorcycle course, it was a nightmare. For two weeks, I tried to contact the company to arrange classes, only to constantly hit their answering machine - even during normal business hours. I finally got through and arranged to come in the next day to set up the class for my friend. When I got there, The owner was there and seemed to be very angry with me. He claimed that I was rude to his staff on the phone and that he tried to call me. When I reached for my cell phone, to check my call log, he just told me: "Don't bother checking your phone; I KNOW I called you!" He refused to offer me the class. I was NOT rude to him; all I did was inquire, during my last conversation with their machine, was why I haven't been contacted during these past TWO WEEKS. You can send your child here for the 30 hr. classroom instruction and 6 hrs. driving tutoring. I wouldn't call it instruction, more like tutoring. He'll keep you out of trouble but you may not learn a whole lot. But, DO NOT allow Mr. Jones to give your child the driving test for the license. Go to DDS for that. Jones will ding you for every possible mistake and he/she will probably fail the 1st time they take it. He charges $25 for a re-test so he has no incentive to pass a student. He will intimidate your kid so them being nervous will compound their mistakes. You've been warned. read more

She was in class almost completed the 30 hours required classroom time and today her last day her instructor, this grey headed old man with a mustache (she didn't remember his name) decided to talk about her driving in front of the class and made up lies saying he was behind her and she was going fast through stop signs and I was with her there's no way I would allow this!!! She was upset and she walked out. I came down there furious and he was still belittling her and talking about me as a parent. Then said if she didn't want to try she could have gave that scholarship to someone else. He also said I wouldn't even ride with her in a car and teach her in front of class! He was so rude and this is not the way he should talk to students and teach them how to drive! It was a waste of her time and ours and a disappointment that what could had been a good experience ended up being the worse!! He could had talk to her after class if he had any issues!!! But then the day of the class he cancels because someone dropped out and he doesn't have enough signed up to pay the instructor. So now I have to reschedule and not able to for another 6 weeks. Personable first experience, very conversational, but that's where the good ended. I scheduled a class for my wife, Basic Motorcycle, and didn't think about her needing to pump (nursing mother). I called to ask how often the breaks would be and whether she'd be able to pump. He laughed and said "what do you want me to do?" Confused, I said that I took the course over ten years ago and couldn't recall how often breaks were given, so I was just looking for an idea about how often the breaks would be. Immediately I was set upon, and for the remainder of the call he pushed me to cancel and get my money back, to the point where I spent a portion of the exchange doing the SALESMAN'S job of keeping me in the course, whether the one I'd scheduled or a later date. When I asked him what was going on and why I was being treated like s*** he lost it, asked for my wife's name, and informed me that we'd be refunded. Click. Get him on the right day and he's personable, catch him after lunch or on the wrong day, though, and you're SOL. Try the place in Thomson, might be a better bet. read more

Do your homework before signing your child up for this class. These reviews don't lie!!! We had the worst experience due to how these people treat not only the parents but the children as well. If your child asks a question which they think is dumb , they will announce in front of whole class just how dumb that question was!! If you have to make up a day (which I told them prior to signing up that she would miss the last day) they make it as difficult as possible to make that day up. I was told it wouldn't be a problem what so ever. They take an exam at the end, ask how many fail. Several fail which tells me either it's not being taught or what I found is the questions are set up to be tricky. My daughter was a nervous wreck taking these exams. Mr. Jones told her before retaking the exam that she HAD to pass this exam this time!! Customer service is terrible !!! We left with my daughter in tears many times. She dreaded going every time b/c she said they are just mean and rude. Unacceptable in my opinion!!! My other daughter who will be going through driving school next year will be attending Brock!!!! read more
