One word: TRANSFORMATIVE! ....Rockbox has done so much for me. I first started with them for a…read moreshort period in 2017 and then I went back in 2021 and have been there ever since. From my highest weight I am over 50 lbs less today because of their workouts and the meal program that they gave me five years ago. I've been at my goal weight for some time but I still use the skeleton of their meal plan with my own tweaks (to make it keto). This gym is not like the Y where people go but sometimes don't really exercise much. Here you do classes - people modify when they need to , myself included - but you always follow along, you don't stand around and blow it off. The members are all sizes - it's a gym for real people. A basic class is 5 minutes of warm up, about 25 minutes of cardio-kickboxing, about 16 minutes of functional/weight/resistance training, about a 2 minute finisher, and about a 3 minute cooldown. ALL the coaches are great so I never worry about which class I'm attending - I just go when I can. They once in a while coordinate group outings at local restaurants - we even had a big group that went hiking at Crowders Mountain once. You can try a free class or two - they will lend you boxing gloves and you have to bring your own wraps or buy them there for $13 - it's because wraps really do provide shock absorption to your hands when you are punching the bag. I once didn't use them when I forgot them and I was surprised at how it felt without them - you definitely need them. You can purchase Unlimited in which you can go as much as you want, or purchase 8 classes/month, or you can buy a block of classes (I think 10 but I'm not sure?) and use them as you wish, or you can pay per class. I do Unlimited and make it a point to go no less than 15 times a month. If you are a Panthers fan, you'll enjoy that the owner - who is also one of the coaches - is Mike Tolbert, a former player. Mike and the other owner, his wife, Shia (also a coach!), could not be any nicer. I am not a person that ever liked to exercise or liked going to the gym - out of all of the places I've tried, this is the best. Just look at some of my numbers that I included (see pic) to show that I am living proof that this place works - as I mentioned, I used to dislike exercising and I weighed 52 lbs more. I am 54 years old (about to be 55). As you get older, the worry is that you lose muscle. My muscle mass number indicates that I have a good amount of lean mass for my size, my skeletal muscle number shows that I am above average in muscle relative to my weight, and my visceral fat number is 5 which is excellent and indicates that I am at low risk for diabetes and heart disease. ....and just in case you are wondering, I don't work there - I'm just a regular member. Bottom line: give it a try!

I am a physician and know I need to stay in shape. But I also want a warm and friendly environment…read morebecause I know myself (just like most of my patients) tend to have low-efficacy workouts if left alone in a gym. This gym provides a family-atmosphere style motivation where both trainers and members encourage each other. It is roughly 1/2 boxing and 1/2 crossfit style exercises. This style of exercise matches what evidence shows to be the most effective at getting and keeping in shape. Highly recommended as long as you are a positive person and interested in high-energy work-outs. A quick note to yelp: reviews written by trolls who have never even seen a place they are reviewing are not very helpful and might need to be monitored and removed...
