Everyone introduced themselves to me and I felt like part of the group before my first class was over. Since then I have worked hard and am now in my black belt apprenticeship. I am greatful for the work and time my Grand Master ( Dr. White ) and Sensei's have put into making me not only a good Martial Artist ,but a better person all the way around. You won't be able to walk onto any dojo floor and train with your grand master. It's been tough. Limits have pushed, but I am so greatful for every moment of it. This was suppose to be a challenge and it has been. I plan on always pushing and striving to reach that next level . With people like Shihan White behind me I know that will always be a possibility. The instructors are great with the children, even those who seem overly excited to be there (the one's who don't listen so well). The instructors are patient, and keep the sessions fun, but also manage to stay firm at the same time. In addition to being wonderful with the kids, they even remember each child's names --even after only seeing them once, which is quite impressive based on the amount of kids they have. The classes are a great size (our son is in the beginners class [he's 5]), which contains only about 5-6 kids per session. I highly recommend this place. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is simply because I have nothing else to baseline this experience from.

They are running their business while taking care of their littles. They care about their business but they also care for their students and their students' respective families. They understand family life and they are fully aware of the current economy that we are living in. I inquired at other martial arts studios around Ballantyne and I have to tell you they charge thousands of dollars and they require a year commitment. At Master O's its NOT required to have a year commitment. It's month to month. Also, if the unforeseeable happens, all you need to do is give them a two weeks notice to pause or cancel your membership. I AM SO IMPRESSED with this Dojo. My daughter loves it so much. She looks forward to going to class 3 times a week. My daughter is shy and she has the tendency to be bullied because she doesn't know how to stand up for herself and I am confident that Master O will help her get out of shell and equip her with the proper skills to stand up to any aggressors. Master O has a promotion right now where your child can try a month of martial arts for only $24. You read that right!!! $24!!! A month is a sufficient time to determine if this dojo is for your child or not. After our first day, I already knew we will be with Master O for a while. The aura in the dojo is so light and it has a family vibe that you just feel so comfortable to be in. As soon as you step in the building, you will feel welcomed like a family. I use primarily the pool, which is plentiful and several lanes and I've never had an issue finding space to swim. They do have a steam room inside, but the only bummer here is there is no Jacuzzi. But the facilities are vast and clean, and I the inside layout and design of this YMCA kind of reminds me of the Chasco in Round Rock, TX People here have always been nice and welcoming, it is aesthetically pleasing to see this building when you arrive and it is also pretty popular yet never seems too overcrowded. Definitely a great experience to come here.

My husband who is a cancer patient, can barely walk and is having hip surgery on May 21st, 2026…read more He talked with a woman at the Y (Saturday) on the telephone as he cannot walk into the Y to give notice to "Put his Membership on Hold" until he receives a clearance from his surgeon, most likely the end of July. She was very nice, asked him several questions and assured him that on Monday, she would have the Form emailed to him. IT NEVER happened! On Monday, Jim called and left a voicemail on the Y phone. NO CALL BACK! Where is the Indianland Y's compassion, when we are worrying about illness and pending surgery that they can't acknowledge the fact that an elderly man cannot come to the Y and personally request to have his "Membership'" put on hold. Jim was a member of the cancer exercise Group until he could no longer attend. I would like someone to reach out and help us with this lack of compassion and communication. I am 84 and have vision issues and do not drive so I can't go to the Y and act on his behalf.
