As part of my divorce in 2024, I worked with Boulay for financial guidance. After my lawyer had put together a draft division of assets, I asked the Corey review the draft and provide guidance. After some time, I met with Corey and my lawyer on a short call, in which Corey displayed what appeared to be the same draft division of assets that my lawyer put together (reformatted with Boulay branding, but same content). Corey essentially read what was on the page, and said it looked good, and the call was over. Afterward, I was sent a non-itemized bill for about ~$1500. I asked for clarification on what I was being charged for, and ended up having an extremely unpleasant call with Corey. I asked that he describe what he had done to review the division of assets, and to help me understand what value I was being provided with in exchange for the bill. He became increasingly agitated, asking about my profession and suggesting that it was the reason I was "detail oriented" and asking questions. He then told me that my assets were much smaller than his other clients, and complained that this call and emailing me were taking up too much of his time. He then offered to waive the bill, with the understanding that he would withdraw from my case. Working with Corey was the most stressful and unpleasant part of my divorce. Though he didn't say it in so many words, the impression I was left with was that he thought I was not worth his time. Corey, and Boulay, are not worth your money.

Fantastic decision. We initially attempted to schedule an in-person meeting; however, I decided to unexpectedly drop by one afternoon to introduce myself and give Sandal the tax documents. She had no problems with my visit, and we scheduled a meeting the following day. The next day, before our in-person meeting she asked a couple of questions on the phone. We then met a few hours later. Our appointment with Sandal started on time, and the entire meeting didn't last longer than 30 minutes. During it, she showcased her knowledge of the tax code (when necessary). I also found her friendly and considerate (especially with my dad's ailing health). The cost of submitting our taxes was over $300. Other tidbits: - Sandal works on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays during the tax season/ pre-April 15th. - Her primary job is a real-estate agent. - The cost to submit taxes depends on how many types of forms she needs to process. I highly recommend Sandal and plan on reaching out and will consider her to process my taxes.

I decided to try H&R Block because they were about a mile from my house. My taxes were normally…read moredone by a tax preparer located 7 miles away. The roads were ice coated. I chose H&R Block. I made a costly mistake. They have a chart with the prices on it , but they don't show it to you unless you complain when the taxes are completed. My taxes consisted of the simple form 1040 and a schedule 1 form (adjustment to income) that is it. My income is from social security and a small pension, for this H&R Block charged $238.00. Watch out if you go to H&R BLOCK unless you have a deep wallet.
