The music for the most part is an excellent mix of chart, r'n'b, hip-hop, dance and pop, and the bars are stretched along the back. The club does feature a cloakroom , but which unfortunately always has a huge line. Dancing there is pretty fun but there are few sit-down areas unless you trudge through the middle of the dancefloor to the upper seating areas. And due to extremely poor ventilation, when the club is fairly crowded it gets way too hot, so when the heat hits the ceiling it condenses back down into tiny droplets that drip onto you. So, basicallygross sweat from hundreds of complete strangers drips onto you all night. That, and people take their drinks onto the dancefloor and just drop/smash their glasses/bottles on the floor because they can't be bothered to take them away, so many a time I or a friend of mine has almost been blinded or had a bleeding foot or leg from stray pieces of broken glass. This would be a great club if drinks were served in plastic cups, because people are too lazy to walk out of the way to a seated/table area that would be closer in any other club.

Tickets prices are reasonable and you can wangle discounts if you go in big groups. There have always been a couple of very funny acts out of the night and a couple of not so funny ones. Still the evening is enjoyable even though there is a lot of pressure to keep quiet durin g the performances. I leave once the comedy turns into a night club as it gets really busy and a bit rowdy - not my kind of place. Food is nothing to write home about - fried bits and drinks are reasonably expensive but the comedy is worth it!

The Wedgewood rooms is easy to get to by bus though if driving you need to allow time to find a side street to park in. It isn't a huge venue but holds a good crowd.

The week I went down apart from excellent performances from comedians on the circuit there were guys from BBC1. Andy Parson was trying out material for his tour and Lee Mack for his too. Because we ordered food we had a table, shared with 2 other people - if we had to stay there for the night our view of the stage would have been severely hindered by a post - but we moved our table out the way and one of the staff members said we could sit in the second row right in front of the stage. Friendly staff and great comedy. The coyote Ugly is a night club and after the comedy you can stay till 1am.

That night is called Da Doo Ron Ron and it takes place once a month at Brighton's coolest arts centre / gig venue / club - Komedia. There's cute girls in cute dresses, handsome boys in cool threads and it's only £4 -£5 to get in. The doors open at 11pm and you're kicked out at 3am. You can check the website for the next date. A monthly event in TW which has just moved from above the Grey Lady in the Pantiles to Chapel Place…read morenearby. I can only assume it's because they need a larger venue. It's always busy and deservedly so. The fellas that run it seem to know everybody & make it their business to say hello to all & sundry. The normal MC is a local guy called Stephen Upsall who's quite a card & they have some excellent guests for a reasonable fee. Lucy Porter & Robin Ince were particularly good last year. Nobly, they squeeze in a newcomer between the more experienced first and last acts. Noble but sphincter-puckeringly risky at times. This is often the crucial time of the evening & there is always a thrill in watching somebody take that big leap. Some have done excellently and others shockingly. Few situations can summon up the awkwardness of being in a dying comedians audience. It is supported by a happy local crowd. The local Toni & Guy are one of the sponsors and they always send down a group of lunatics. Beyond this there is another sponsor called 'Moog Royale': I think they sell synthesiser burgers.

Ok, that might not be saying a lot but the Therapy Room offers a quirky, less formal alternative to comedy at Trinity or The Assembly Hall. Much improved since it's move to a superior venue (less chance of being asphyxiated by Grey Lady fajita fumes), the comedians are invariably excellent, ably supported by a compere full of cracking local gags. A great night's entertainment at a good price.
