We started our wedding an hour late (limo issues, that review to come), hence we were keeping her from her next appointment. Instead of shorting us (which I totally would have understood, not her fault the limo messed up) she called and explained the situation to her next client and asked if she could push back. She stayed with us as long as she could getting some great shots at the reception as well. A few days after the wedding our website was up, I was floored by the photos they were amazing and so beautiful! About a week later we recieved our CD's with rights to all our images. I was just expecting a CD, but no it was a very cute CD book with our picture printed on it and cute choice photos printed on the CDs. What a wonderful touch! He actually did a great job with our engagement photos so we moved forward and signed a contract with him for our wedding and put down a retainer. This is where the issues began - he emailed us ~3 months before our wedding stating that he had a family conflict arise on our wedding date, that would prevent him from photographing our wedding, and suggested we terminate the contract and stated he would refund the retainer (we have that in writng from him). We were disappointed but understood and agreed to his proposed next steps. We moved on and booked another photographer for our wedding. He followed up sometime after we had our new photographer and said he had the dates wrong and intended to photograph our wedding. We informed him that we had made new arrangements and would like the retainer back. This resulted in him becoming unhinged and saying we were in violation of our contract and made claims that requesting the deposit back (his idea originally) would disrupt his financial wellbeing and crypto trades. We ultimately let it go without receiving our deposit return. I'm posting this review to share as a cautionary tale for anyone considering hiring Josh.

When I told my then-fiancé that we were doing engagement pictures, he was less than excited. But from the second we met Casey, we were both instantly relaxed. She did an incredible job of making us feel comfortable and focus on each other, rather than the camera. She was fun and easy going, which turned the day into a great memory. For starters, we were running behind schedule when they arrived, so they had to re-arrange their timeline of when we would take certain pictures. The pictures are priceless. Just as the ceremony was getting ready to start outside, it started to rain. These two did not bat an eye as they stood in the pouring, cold rain, capturing every moment of our day. Though Julie seemed more comfortable on Pearl Street than she was at Chautauqua Park (I'm not sure if she has done a session there before), most of our pictures turned out quite amazing! Julie was great. My in-laws contacted Julie at extremely short notice to shoot my wedding after our…read moreoriginal photographer plans fell through. She was immensely helpful and was definitely one of the least things I had to worry about in the last two weeks before the wedding. She met with me to discuss the particulars of the day and she took it from there. On the actual day, she was prompt and on time and immediately started shooting the process of everyone getting ready. We had a great pre-ceremony first-look shot and even though it was freezing cold outside she kept us laughing and having a good time. I hardly noticed that she was there which was great because she ended up getting some amazing candid shots. I wish we had booked her for longer for all of the reception! I was AMAZED at how fast she got our photos back to us after the wedding. So many wedding photographers take weeks or months to get photos back but we had our first preview shots (via Facebook) in a week. The next week she had them all on her website for us to view and a week after that a DVD came in the mail with all the shots on them. (The DVD came in an adorable case with one of our shots on them, too, plus the date) She sent us a thank-you card too. We were so pleased with the photos and how fast they were returned to us. Julie was pleasant and very easy to work with and really made the big day calmer because she took care of all the "prop shots" (rings, etc) without bugging anybody. Definitely recommended!

Working with Love, Leon (formerly Krauter photography) was the most stressful part of planning our…read morewedding. We were profoundly disappointed with the lack of client-care, honesty and communication throughout the entire process, even in the delivery of photos. We hired Lauren + Casey because we liked their style, we wanted a husband/wife duo and we wanted Indy locals (we live in Los Angeles, our wedding was in my hometown of Indianapolis). We were happy to hear that Lauren, like us, felt it was important to meet in-person to talk vision + prep before the wedding. We agreed to meet in the June and July months when I was scheduled to fly home to Indianapolis. After hiring Love, Leon and putting down our 50% deposit, we felt that Lauren's interest in us and our wedding ended. At the beginning of June, I reached out to Lauren to set + confirm our first in-person meeting. Lauren informed us that she and her husband (2nd shooter) were moving to Germany at the end of the week and she would be unable to meet until the afternoon before my wedding day. As I probed further, she admitted that Casey was no longer available to shoot the wedding and she had already hired a new 2nd shooter. When I searched for this photographer online, I came up blank. There was no Instagram, no website, no reviews and no verifiable online presence of her work. Lauren supplied us with two private links to photos, but asked me to "trust her on this one" even though she had never shot a wedding with this person. We begged for our deposit back. Because so much had changed, we wanted to go with another photographer and part ways with no hard feelings. She refused to make an exception and informed us that she would be keeping our deposit regardless of our decision. We didn't have the budget to pay another photographer without getting that $1,650 deposit back, so we had to proceed with Lauren and try to make the best of this new situation. Her demeanor on the day-of was good and she handled herself well with our bridesmaid photos. The only thing that struck me as odd & unprofessional was when she asked the Matron of Honor to buy her an Uber home during the reception. After delivering the photo galleries, we noticed that a vast majority of the family and group shots were blurry. The trees behind us were focused, but all of our faces were out-of-focus. I reached out to Lauren asking for sharper versions that were suitable for printing and using in a photo book. At this point, she admitted that she had made a mistake with her camera during our group photo session and she did not have any in-focus photos of our wedding party, the bride's family, the bride + groom's family or my grandparents. I was stunned. I reached out to some professional photographer friends to see if anyone could salvage the images. I received an overwhelming response that this was not a camera setting issue, but rather a fundamental photography-skill issue. A photographer may occasionally slip into back-focus for one or two frames out of a hundred, but anyone who bills themselves as a professional would see this mistake after a shot or two and fix it immediately on-site preventing further blurry photos. They were all stunned to find out that she hadn't fixed it on-location, and further than she hadn't owned up to the rookie mistake upon delivery. She waited to see if we would catch it. The whole thing just doesn't sit well with me. All this to say - Love, Leon added stress to the wedding process rather than alleviating it. Maybe it was a one-time mistake, but I wouldn't recommend taking that risk on your wedding day. If you're a bride or groom who values communication, transparency and an overall positive experience in wedding planning, I would urge you to explore other photographers in Indy. **NOTE: As a courtesy, I let Lauren know in advance that we would be sharing our honest experience on this platform. In response, she offered + provided a 50% refund for the $3,600 contract and apologized as she understands that nothing can replace the fact that these images were not captured. She will "use this as an opportunity to learn and grow."**
