The salesman said it is because they have to hire high-priced inspectors. I told him the $250 township fee includes the inspection. He said I was wrong. The inspector came in today and was paid by the Township. I was right. 2. The sales tried to bill me $500 for a loose house electric meter. I told him that multiple workers in the past had checked and found nothing wrong with the meter itself. Just the screws to the wall were loose. We verbally agreed that the installation crew would re-check during work and would adjust the price accordingly. Robert and Ryan did check and found nothing wrong with the meter and re-attached it back to the wall, but still charged me $400 claiming they were not allowed to adjust more than $100. I would be happy to pay premium for honest job, but $875 out of the $2,468 I paid to Ampd is for nothing. I bought the connector separately. Robert and Ryan did a good job, but the sales process as a whole was less than honest.

Salem Electric has been the absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. By law, he is required to supervise-train and at minimum inspect the work performed by his apprentices at the end of each day. Not once -- not once -- did I ever see him step foot on my project. This company handled the electrical work for my entire new build home, and the result speaks for itself: my house failed inspection four times. I eventually brought in a separate, fully licensed professional, ( at the end of the job) who immediately identified that the work had clearly been done by first-year apprentices. Even more alarming, he found serious issues that multiple inspectors had missed. The entire experience has been unacceptable, unsafe, and well below the legal standard of care..... AND the time lost on the project was incredible never mind the MONEY!! Salem is not charging apprentice, prices by any stretch... and this is NOT the fault of the apprentices... I often felt badly for them with NO HELP!!
