I've been to a couple of Platos Closets, and this Lakeland location by far has had the most and…read morebest clothing/ products I've seen. I was pretty impressed on my first visit, they really have a lot here. Even their shoes have some highly regarded brands like Jordan, Nike, Adidas, etc. I've found some pretty nice stuff I wear a lot and got for a ridiculously low price. Something that's also cool about Platos is you have the opportunity to donate your own clothes and they will pay you cash if they want anything. In the past at other locations this has worked fairly well for me, so I decided to try it again here after cleaning out my closet. My friend and I took almost a full bin of stuff there to try and sell. I was hoping we'd at least make maybe $30 with what we had, because we had some good brands that Platos is known for selling, like American Eagle, Loft, Victoria's Secret and more.. You check in to sell stuff all online and that went smoothly, but when we came back, they took 2 things. 2 things out of an entire bin, and gave us $7 for them. I was stunned. It seemed pretty ridiculous to me. I will probably never try to sell clothes here again because they probably won't take anything nor will I get a price that's even worth the few items they may want. Another issue is the workers. I read reviews of Platos prior to coming and so many of them complained about the workers. I tried coming in unbiased to see if maybe I'd have a different opinion, but unfortunately I did not. It's just a lot of young kids there to get a check, and they are pretty unprofessional and rude. It's all very unfortunate because the idea of Platos Closet- buying and selling cool brands second hand at really affordable prices- is such an awesome mission and I love it. But locations like this where the workers are disrespectful really bring down the name Platos has worked so hard to build. I'll probably still come back here once in a while and sift through stuff because the prices just can't be beat, but I am mightily disappointed at the overall experience every time here.

I honestly felt like it had been purposefully vandalized or something. I just stopped taking photos after a few minutes, it was so overwhelming. I hadn't been into a Kohls in a few years but I remember it being very nice and tidy. This was way worse than a TJ Maxx or Ross. It was like a Goodwill or something. You would think that first thing in the morning, at store opening for the day, it would be tidy. I just walked out without purchasing a single thing because it was chaos. It would not have been a pleasant shopping experience at all for me. Very disappointing.

I've been shopping at this store location, since it was built back in the day. My mom was a…read morehallmark representative for many years. We both have seen many management teams.Come and go. It's one of the only department stores, besides Bealls, TJMaxx, BelkLindsey, Dillards, that's worth shopping at in Polk County or at least in the Winter Haven Lake Wales area. There's no variety of the old fashioned department store feel, stores that are classy, fun, unique, except driving to Posner Park, or worse Tampa/Orlando, but same cookie cutter types, or one called Ollies...good choice for bargains...The Eagle Ridge Mall needs an overhaul or to be condemned. But still this area needs more stores. Wal*Nutz, Target don't cut it... the culture and clientele that shop there eventually trash it and act ghetto ... it's despicable...crime centers especially Wal*Nutz...Bring back Penny's, Macys. Kohls is a great store, and remember, if you've never worked. Retail don't slam it as far as the esthetics in the store or how it looks on the beginning or at the end of the day, those workers work hard, it's some of the clientele that go into these stores and destroy it. The workers can only do so much and believe me. I come from a retail/merchandise background to know the more you do, the more they expect, the more they expect, the less they appreciate. There's always a "karen" in the bunch, that's going to scream her head off and get her free or a discount, when she doesn't deserve it. Another thing too , people complaining about clothes on the floor what's it gonna kill you to bend down and pick it up and just put it on the shelf , even if you don't fold it? After reviewing some of these photos and comments on here, I'm disappointed. It seems like you have maid service at your house! Retail service workers are always mistreated and yeah , I know they got a hard job and they don't get the pay for it just like any other service job. So just be kind and look around and see , maybe what you could do to maybe put something on the shelf , it's on the floor it's not going to kill you pick it up or put it back on the hanger! Or better yet , to put it back in the place , you found it! What a concept. Keep up the good work Kohls.
