To say they have an edge on Starbucks would be not fair enough of a review.. they have such a wonderful vibe through out the wonderfully set up spacious store.. loved the decor .. causal meets comfort w "Joanna Gains" flair of decor.. And last but Not least the coffee... uummm so delish! My favorite for mornings has always been an americano .. w aforementioned coffee shop I've always had a back ground note of bitterness.. w this americano it was so smooth and w out bitterness.. made my morning! All in all I would recommend this little gem and look forward to stopping in Mount Pleasant again, if for nothing else, to have a wonderful cup of Jo! read more

I stopped in here for a coffee and to get some work done on a Wednesday. The interior is very chic and inviting. The staff is incredibly friendly. They play some soft music and there's an exterior deck to sit on as well. The coffee is wonderful and the vibe inside is suitable for catching up with friends, a business meeting, or even a quieter place to come in and get some work done for yourself. Wish I would have discovered this place sooner as I'm only in town for a week working. Highly recommend for anyone passing through. read more

In my hometown of Manhattan, we have the best coffee houses on the planet! I am an official coffee snob (or "connoisseur" if you're being nice!). When I visited Mount Pleasant for about a week, I lived off of the coffee from Jo's Downtown. Their Iced Latte's are comparable to what I would walk 10 blocks for in Manhattan. The barista's have great energy (maybe it's the caffeine!) and the ambiance is Southern hipster with a mish-mash of unique couches and chairs to suit anyone. If you're in (or near) Mount Pleasant, do not trust any other place to craft your caffeine pleasures... except for the folks at Jo's! Excellent coffee place totally worth getting off the interstate and driving a bit for. Way better than a Starbucks, and their coffee is quite tasty. Pretty cool to get a legit macchiato in Northeast Texas. The town square here is a cute affair as well. read more

Definitely a spot worth trying out if you are in this city! I just realized they were open a few weeks ago and went twice last week to indulge in their specialty coffees (sea salt caramel and Mexican vanilla)...definitely planning on trying out the remaining ones! ;) I get their 12 oz size ~ $4) and it is plenty enough caffeine and beverage for me - a great alternative to hotel coffee and McDonald's lattes! :P LOVE the atmosphere of the place (cute with original wood flooring, antique furnishings) - they have awesome hours, so if you need a burst of energy or second wind to get through the rest of your day, swing by! ;) read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Their coffees are all specialty and made fresh and extra hot. The atmosphere is open yet cozy and there is a patio where you can sit outside. I also love that they have "That Cake Lady" bakery items. The quiche is my new favorite! Jo's would be a great place for a bible study, meet up with friends, study, or read a book. It says community service non-profit but they want $4 for a standard cup of coffee in my own cup that I brought in. At worst the coffee is 8 to $10 a pound which yields about 10 pots so they want you to pay for half a pound of coffee to get one cup out of a pot. Stay away from Jo's that is not community service or non-profit. Just around the corner across from Taste of Philly there is another coffee shop which is $2 for your cup and $0.50 a refill check them out get a little exercise walk the two blocks or less and get some really good coffee. read more

Jo's is a precious gem nestled in East Texas. Jo's a small town coffee shop that doesn't stop it from being one heck of a place. I am an avid coffee drinker. I have been to to some great shops all over the country and Jo's holds its own. If you are in the area check it out! read more

Jo's Downtown serves superb coffee and espresso. Perhaps I'm judging Mount Pleasant too quickly, but I never expected to find Jo's amongst the town's franchises and coffee desert. Step inside Jo's and you're surrounded by a soothing, not-trying-too-hard, non-pretentious collection of repurposed wood tables and benches, comfortable chairs and couches and eclectic decor. The mixed drinks are outstanding. I began with the Queen Bee latte (honey, espresso and other goodness) and came back for their take on the pumpkin spice latte. I'd happily stay and make my way through their entire drink menu, but I only had a few days in Mount Pleasant before heading back to Denver. Service was fast and friendly, wireless was plentiful, and the overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming. If I was a resident, I'd support this business on a daily basis. If you're traveling through, park for free on North Jefferson and swing in for a drink and baked good or other snack. read more

I recently found out about this place as I moved here from Houston a month ago and it is a hidden gem. This place gives me such a comfort homey feeling. It is located in downtown of Mount Pleasant and I love the fact that it has a well decorated patio in the back of the coffee shop with a lot parking space so no worries about finding parking spot. They have an upstairs area also, but I haven't been up there yet so will definitely go there next. On every Saturday night they have a live band starts playing around 730-930. The staffs were very friendly and nice, I came in not knowing what to order since it was my first and the barista made me something yummy with ice that I wish I can remember the name. A lot of great open spaces for large crowd. Overall, I am so glad they have something as neat as this in this small town. Will be there more often. By the way, I see the "kis center" sign, but I didn't ask what it is for. Maybe a place for kids to learn and play also. Worth it to check out if you have time!!! read more

Went here with hopes of a nice smoothie and a good sandwich. Asked for a strawberry banana smoothie after at least 5mins if not more we were told there were no strawberries which happens. But shouldnt they have known this when we ordered??? Then we were offered another drink so went for a hot chocolate. It was thrown out! It tasted like milk with a hint of coffee?? The girl behind the counter had no idea what she was doing with no real support. Will definitely not be back. read more

Queen Bee is by far my favorite drink. Also their hot chocolate and sweet tea is delicious! I love this place!
