Months later looking at my Bill I went from $12/kW to $19.9/kW and that is nuts, it's no wonder my electric bill was crazy. I let this slide for so long as I use direct pay for electric bills. Sketchy AF. Guy came to my door at 9pm and told me my ConEd account would be switching to Josco and that he needed some info to make the switch. He was super nice about it, but it's a blatant lie -- that's not how ESCOs work, he was clearly trying to just steal my business away from the ESCO I actually. I asked him how I could verify what he was saying and he said he'd call a service and verify it for me (that's not exactly verification dude), I said maybe I could call Con Ed in the morning during business hours, and he keeps telling me "it's going to switch anyway, I'm just trying to make it easy for you". I'm an idiot and did it. Luckily, I realized very quickly how stupid that was, called Con Ed, put a lock on my account so that nothing could be switched without my prior approval to Con Ed, then called Josco to complain. The most disturbing thing about the entire experience was that the rep when I called to complain? Didn't sound the least bit disturbed by this, like it's just how they do business. I was approached by a gentleman in the business Downtown district of Baltimore, MD who indicated they represent BGE utility. The representatives said they are forwarding $50.00 to BGE customers because of the high costs to BGE customers. On September 14, 2018, I received a Letter asserting that I changed my supplier to Josco Energy. I contacted BGE and informed them I never did change my supplier to Josco Energy. I never heard of Josco. The representatives lied to me. The gentlemen never mentioned "you are changing or selecting us as a representative of Josco Energy." I was never informed of Josco. I was never given any info of Josco. And to date, I never received a $50.00 check. It was all a LIE and a con. I contacted Josco Energy per BGE instructions and wrote them to remove me and any potential services as a new supplier. I informed them I was disappointed and their representatives were deceitful and misrepresented BGE. Josco Energy contacted me on the same day to rescind any service connected with me. I informed them I was pretty disgusted by the actions of the representatives. They apologized and cancelled my services. The Josco rep. said this matter will be reported to Management. But I truly doubt it. I am mad. Apparently the lying representative signed me up for Gas and Electric. Josco can only reject my Electric service now...but my Gas, as I was informed, will be rejected as well but will not appear on my recent bill. If I could I would give them a -10 STAR Rating. They put a fake signature on a contract that they sold door-to-door. The sales representative presented himself as PSEG and told me he would change something within he PSEG service. The next day I received a mail with a fake contract and my fake signature telling me I changed Energy provider. I was completely unaware of this. I believed I signed up for a local PSEG adjustment, but it turned out to be a new supplier. I never saw a contract during the visit. I certainly never signed one. It is a criminal approach to push people into a service, unaware of what the service is about. Criminal practices. The name of the sales representative was Elijah Snowden. I called the customer service in order to cancel the contract and in order to complain about the fake signature on the contract. They told me that this is not their normal practice and that their people aren't trained in this way. Very weak explanation for something that is I fear a common practice! Two reps came knocking on my door. Talked us into switching with how much money we would save. Life got busy and never thought to check. Over a year later checked my bills. Figured out we paid over $500 more than if we stayed with our local company. Called them and they offered to match our local company's rates. What good does that do us know. Cancelled them and still took time. Had to wait for meter readings. Very dishonest. Got a good rate for a few short months and then it quickly increased. Don't be as stupid as we were. read more

This company says that they will lower your monthly bills I've been with them for over a year and I haven't seen not one reduced bill but what I did get was a higher bill for my electricity and my gas I would've been better off without Josco energy. So I finally decided to cancel and was promised a rebate within 4 to 6 weeks of course I didn't receive anything so I called to see and was told I had to send in my bills even though they have all my bills from the time I signed up with them so I asked why wasn't I informed of that when I canceled again I got no real response but she did say in the notes it read "call the customer to have the bills mailed to us" but yet I didn't receive not one phone call from them after calling to cancel on March 13. read more

These people have come to my building three times in the past year. The first time I was reluctant to even answer the door because I was alone and the rep flirted with me. The second time was around 8 pm on a school night. That rep made it seem as if we HAD to sign over and when I looked more into it, turns out we didn't and I called immediately the next business day to cancel. Someone came again today and asked for a Con Ed bill and pointed out wrong info, but I already knew the scam and didn't sign up for anything. These reps are aggressive and as soon as you say hello they want a Con Ed bill. It's not necessary to sign up for this and I advise people to not even answer the door if you see their badges. read more

A pair of these fraudsters gained entry into my Manhattan building on a weekend after 5 pm. One of them was signing up my neighbor down the hall when I opened the door to a man posing as a ConEd official. He told me about switching over to some "green energy" initiative, that it was the last chance in the area, and about rebates/savings/free bulbs. He acted as though it was official business, *required* to switch over. When I said I never heard anything mandated by ConEd, he insisted it was on the back of my bill, and that I show it to him -- which I refused. I point-blank said my bill can go as high as it wants & I don't care, to which he replied someone would return to my door in 4-6 months. He wouldn't leave the front of my door, his badge was concealed, and it took pressing to get the name "Josco" from him. read more

I was at the social service bldg and a lady with pepco asked us to sign up for a rebate from pepco. we would be refunded $50.00 credit on our next bilI. I signed up without thinking. lo and behold, it's false, you will be signing with josco. I knew nothing about this company and feel I was bamboozled. when I discovered my mistake I immediately canceled within a day or two, not knowing, they didn't cancel my request, I am just finding that out today 2/8/19. my prior bills with pepco range around $65.00, that was my payment in jan, I received my new payment with josco added was $102.00 for Feb. where am I benefiting, what am I saving, ridiculous read more

The switch to this energy supplier has literally become a nightmare. I have called 2 different customer service number for Josco and still have yet to speak to an actual person. Both numbers have the same 3 options 1) to be placed on a do not call list 2) billing (allegedly) ad 3) all other concerns. I tried both options 2 and 3 which both lead you to an answering machine that tells you to leave a detailed message and wait for a callback which never comes. I'm scared to have my regular supplier take over for them without actually speaking to someone because chances are I'll be hit with some type of cancellation fee as it says when you google Josco that there is no cancellation fee when you cancel through Josco. However I cannot get anyone on the phone to actually cancel this damn thing. I was told originally that I signed up for Star Energy and somehow here we are with Josco Energy that has done nothing but raise my bill and my blood pressure. Please do not sign up for any door to door energy companies and please do your research first to help you avoid this scam of a company. read more

On Memorial Day, there was repeated pounding on my door and ringing of my doorbell. I thought there was an emergency of some kind. Instead, there was a very aggressive sales person from Josco Energy who said that my electricity and natural gas supplier no longer serviced my area and that Josco would now supply service. He was fast talking and used a lot of doublespeak when I asked questions. He asked for my mobile number and had someone from Josco call me. He told me to lie when the caller asked if the sales rep was still on the premises since he, the sales rep, was remaining to answer my questions. When the caller could not answer my questions and began talking about a contract with Josco, I ended the call and told the rep to leave since I thought this was a scam. The next day I called my energy supplier who told me that they continue to service my area. Apparently, Josco will use any tactics, no matter how dishonest, to drum up business. read more
