I found out about Your Next Jump through the Yelp Elite event for a free 15 min consultation. I sent them my CV since I was under the impression that people in the sciences look at CVs. However when I got on the phone with Tim, who was very polite and professional, he told me that really only if you're looking to be a professor people ask for a CV. Now I know I need to keep a resume too. During our 15 minute conversation we went over different templates and the reasoning behind why the templates are structured the way they are. I really appreciate the advice Tim gave. He was helpful and made sure we were both on the same page. I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the time and expertise Tim gave. However I could only give 4 stars for this particular experience. The first few minutes of the conversation were things that I already watched in the introduction video that my community manager recommended I watch before my appointment. I just received my new and improved resume (in pdf and Word format) and couldn't be more pleased with the results! The Your Next Jump team worked with me to provide a full resume rebuild. This was my first experience with a professional career advising company. Throughout college, I had resources like the career center to lean on for resume/cover letter advice. However, I never felt like those services were personalized enough. I was most often given generic tips and verbiage.
