My dentist, and a good one at that! Highly recommended. Dr. Mike Lorman works with Dr. Derario in what appears to be a healthy practice that draws its clients to some extent from Bear Stearns (I do not work there). I find the hygiene people to be friendly and the doctor to be knowledgeable, and also looking out for your best interests. Now the story of the missing star. I took a star off since I hear these stories about dentists who make the experience a lot of fun by providing special equipment to watch video and such like. This dental office is located on the 43rd floor, so one has to use the elevators that up to the 44th floor. Every time I visit, I have to take a photograph at the front desk and sign in which is a safety precaution. I believe Dr. DeRario is a great dentist. Unfortunately, being that he has two locations, he sees people on specific days. My general feelings for this place is satisfaction, even though sometimes I have fear of dentists overall. I guess most of the time, I leave with a smile because there is always quick turn around. I have never had an appointment that lasted more than 45 minutes. The administrative assistants are helpful, too. They tell me about the co-pays and also work with me to make an appointment that fits best with my schedule. These ladies also send me a reminder a few days ahead to let me know that I have an appointment which I really appreciate. Most times, I do not get appointments with Dr. DeRario. Instead, I have some of dental visits with his associate whose name is Felicia who not only is thorough in cleaning my teeth but kind in assisting me with flossing and answering my questions. This place is hands down the worst doc office I've ever been to. Very Unethical and frankly rude. Literally filling a complaint with my insurance company (my first time ever doing this) and any with the state authority Re this business. Don't go there! They will trick you into thinking you require multiple visits with no out of pocket, just to turn around and charge you. They are clearly using the pandemic as an excuse to trick insurance companies into paying for multiple appointments and juice out what they can from people. Plz- stay away. The front desk lady refused to cancel my step kids appointment and hung up the phone. I had to call back and force her to cancel. It's probably because they have already billed my ins even though the appointment hasn't happened. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was something to capitalize on vs a patient. I am also concerned about the people they employ, their lack of understanding of HiPPA makes me extremely concerned from my medical data perspective. Is my data safe there? I don't know. I first went to Dr. Derario, because his office is near mine and they take my insurance. I've since been back and recommended him to a bunch of my coworkers -- it's a classy, friendly place with knowledgeable staff and unintimidating doctors. I haven't had any serious work done here, just routine cleanings, but I've found the doctors and hygienists to be thorough and super helpful. They tell me more about my oral health than any other dentist has, both about my present status, oral health in general, and advice (for example, birth control can dramatically influence your gum health -- who knew!). So, I highly recommend Dr. Derario and his staff, but I haven't had any serious work done there. For what it's worth, I would trust the office if I needed some. **UPDATE** I'm knocking this down to three stars from the five I had before. I saw these guys every six months for about two years -- four or five visits. The hygienist was funny and chatty, but also really heavy handed and not too concerned with minimizing the pain involved in dragging sharp metal things around someone's gums. The cleanings were good, though, so I persevered. In my final visit, though, she barely cleaned my teeth, saying that I have great hygiene (thanks, fancy electric toothbrush!). Then, when it was time for the doctor to come in and look things over before I left, the doc and the hygienist basically got into an argument, literally above me. I have a stupid permanent retainer, a wire that's cemented to the back of my teeth, that's never coming off. They argued about whether they should suggest I get the thing removed in favor of a removable retainer or not. He told me my options, she didn't want to (nevermind that they had both told them to me in the past). She clearly wasn't happy that the doctor was overriding her decision. It was one of the awkwardest experiences I've ever had, and certainly very unprofessional -- I felt like a kid whose divorced parents were arguing over her, trying to get her onto each of their sides. The hygienist complained during my cleaning that she hadn't gotten a raise since whenever, etc, so my guess is that she's been working there for a long time, knows her stuff, and and resents a bit that the doc has the final say in things. Which I totally get, been there myself. But, for real? The cleaning wasn't thorough, I barely saw the doctor, there was some weird tension that she brought me into (moreso than the doctor himself, who I would still give a high rating to) -- my new dentist is the opposite of this, and I am happy. read more

This practice has another office at 57th & 7th, but I imagine the one at 46th & Park is similar. These guys do not eff around. I've never had a dentist whose staff was so efficient and who were able to get me out the door in fifteen minutes. Amazing! I've also never had to wait for my appointment; they've always run on time, which is a little jarring if you're used to doctors who run late. read more

With not much time till my daughter's wedding, he, his aassociate, and staff were so welcoming and met all my dental needs. What an awesome group of professionals! I couldn't have asked for a better dentist! After years of searching for a cosmetic dentist to replace my left front tooth, I was finally recommended to Dr Derario. At first I was nervous but he was patient, kind, and had the right eye. It took a few times to get the color right but now my implant matches my other front tooth perfectly and now I can smile ear to ear again without worrying if anyone notices. Dr. Derario runs his practice with the philosophy that honesty creates loyalty. He is what you want out of anyone you do business with be it a contractor, mechanic or doctor. I went to another dentist for a groupon checkup, cleaning and exam. The hygienist there told me I need to take better care of my teeth and need a full gum scaling or my teeth would start loosening soon. The dentist after looking at my X-rays told me I had 2 cavities that needed to be treated. I decided to get a second opinion, and went to Dr. Derarios office. They explained that I have two slight indentations that are just natural bone growth not cavities. My gums are very healthy (I do have a high standard of hygiene daily). I then suggested my teeh could be ready for another whitening. My dentist explained the dangers of over whitening and that my teeth are quite white already. The hygienist Gail did a better cleaning of my teeth than I have ever had. This dental practice has earned my loyalty. read more

Dr. Derario told me he could take my wisdom teeth out no problem and did so with just local anesthesia and it was the worst experience of my life. He yanked at the tooth for an hour and was sweating on me and it was just horrible. I am sure he is a fine dentist but never let him do anything an oral surgeon should be doing! read more

Dr Derario did a great job fixing my tooth after an accident knocked it out. He took the time to see me on short notice and did a great job creating a new permanent tooth. I'm 66 years old and have pretty much neglected my teeth most of my life because of a real fear of the dentist. Unfortunately several years ago it became obvious that I had to find a dentist to take care of several issues. Fortunately I found Dr. Derario and what a difference he's made in my attitude. He makes sure that I'm completely at ease with whatever he's doing and because he's an amazingly fast dentist every procedure I've had done was over before I knew it. Just this week I had two implants and a temporary bridge in less than an hour and a half - he's that good! And did I mention that he always makes sure that I'm completely at ease before he starts - no more fear of the dentist - at least not THIS dentist.
