All the higher end glasses shops are stocking Tom Ford at the moment and so they should, his sunglasses are amazing, some of the best designs I have ever seen. Another great brand Eyeballs are offering is Mykita who are a German brand providing extremely funky, Hi tech yet well made eyewear. Lindberg is another brand on offer, which is a little more classic and demure, but none the less stylish. A great shop.

Rocked into this shop at 10-45am looking for an impromptu eye exam on a Sunday morning. I was…read moresuprised that they had staff available. (I noticed blood in my eye on Wednesday morning and it hadn't receded so thought it better to be safe than sorry). There were two shop staff. One took my details and medicare information, and asked me to come back a little-after-11 when the optometrist would be available. I came back around 11-15am, and whilst I had a little bit of wait, standing around whilst the two staff served other people glasses/prescriptions, when they were free they acknowledged that I had been waiting and informed the optometrist that I was waiting to be seen. The optometrist herself was extremely sweet and friendly, and made sure that I was comfortable with each of the tests she performed. She was reassuring and explained the equipment and what to expect before she conducted the tests (e.g. one of the tests is a pressure test where the machine blows air into your wide open eye --- she warned me what to expect so I wouldn't freak out --- yes I still freaked out hahaha, but at least I was ready for it). I never knew that optometrists had such sophisticated equipment (I went through 4 separate machines for tests), and it was great to get a macular check at the same time. The final high resolution eye scan cost $75, and isn't covered by medicare, but the rest of the standard testing was all covered. I found the optometrist very skilled, reassuring and informative. It meant the whole experience which could have been daunting was instead very straightforward, calm and easy. If you are worried about your eyes and need a check up, I would gladly recommend visiting this OPSM, it was an enjoyable experience and the staff were attentive and professional. They also stock a wide range of prescription glasses and frames.

There were a few independent eyewear suppliers around but only OPSM had a big enough range of frames to make sure you could get something that didn't make you look like a total dork (which was much more difficult back then). Having said that, I did spend my entire childhood looking like a total dork... but that wasn't because of my glasses, that was just me. These days there are competitors to OPSM. Some of them are cheaper. Some of them are faster... but you know, for the total package of price, quality and service, you just can't go past the old faithful. The range is good. The service is good. They give free lifetime adjustments (which is great when your chosen sport involves being hit in the head with a metal bar). The in house optometrists have done my eye checks since I moved to Hornsby 20 years ago. Now they do my kids eye checks as well (fortunately, all normal... my short sightedness has been cancelled out by my wife's long sightedness resulting in perfect vision). I buy my frames and lenses here. I still look like a total dork but its not because of my glasses. Its still just me.

I feel that I've found that here…read more My first visit with Jim Kokkinakis included a thorough eye exam and discussion about my eye concerns. I have had previous surgeries to my eyes which have given me dry eye syndrome, conjunctival scarring and scleral thinning. I cannot wear normal contact lenses. The last time I tried it was very scary... I literally had to run to a chemist for eye drops and then to the bathroom to take them out because I had intense pain and pulling sensations. I have tried medications including restasis with minimal improvement. My last hope is scleral lenses which are extremely expensive customised lenses that trap a layer of fluid between the eye surface and the lense. The fitting process is intricate and takes a patient person, and although it's not over yet I'm hoping for a positive outcome. Either way I appreciate the dedication of the Eye Practice and I highly recommend them. (They have some nice frames too) :)

Highly comprehensive with their eye checks. I am an Ortho K client, which basically means I wear hard contact lenses at night, that prevent my vision from getting worse, without having to wear contacts or glasses during the day. The staff at the Eye Practice explained to me thoroughly what the process involved and I have been satisfied tremendously for years. Great range of both sunglasses and prescription glasses but most importantly very professional and genuine service.

Basically one pair of Designer Frames with lenses at my Optometrist was $550 with a rebate. The lenses are terrible and they constantly fog up. I love the frames but I can tell the glasses were just thrown together. Also the fact that the optometrist rang me close to harrassment to try out some Contact Lenses for free , of course. I had to avoid him in the street. Not long after I find this cool place and I love that I can get 2 pairs of specs for less than $400 with no rebate. I hadnt heard of Bailey Nelson until they opened in the Shire . Since googling, Im well impressed. Story goes , a couple of hipsters started the business in Bondi and like to help people save money, so they cut out all the unneccessary middlemen. At B&N They rang my previous Optometrist to confirm my prescription and had the glasses made up in a week . Its not my imagination but the lenses are really clear and I wasnt asked if I want the works , like Fog Free, Glare Free, Scratch resistant , Break Free etc . Honestly the BS that we have to answer , who would say no ? No Im good thanks I want my glasses to fog and break easily . As I know that it costs about a dollar to make them and you are all parasites but lets waste more time. How thin would you like to go ? well I still want to resemble Coke Bottles of course NOT. They dont do this at B&N . Also they dont have a big neon sign on the side to advertise their brand . Its descretely displayed on th inside of the arm. Im thinking they would update quite regularly as they are fashion forward . The same colours come in different frames for different shapes etc. Makes so much sense to me. Nothing we did could fix them, so I went to The Eye Piece for help. The team here were incredibly nice and helpful and had them fixed and cleaned like new in about 10 minutes! Super fair pricing, too! It's a cute little shop with and excellent selection of frames, including those with the latest technology, including hearing aid frames. 100% recommended for all eyeglass and sunglasses needs!

I know, sounds crazy right? Well apart from that, sales reps are very professional and they offer the best service by my opinion to help you finding the best available frame or sunnies that you love. They are probably not the cheapest in town but the help I am given to find just the right frames makes it more than worth it. I now let Riad suggest (rather than me wandering about) and the last few times I have always selected the first or second of his suggestions (and trust me, I try on a LOT of pairs!) - and no matter how long it takes, you never feel like a nuisance. I am also surprised that it can be a couple of years between visits and he remembers my name. I never go anywhere else.
