Plus I wanted an option in case I had to fight a case of insomnia and couldn't go to sleep, and I need it to work out in the middle of the night. This anytime fitness is located near the Village Crossing Mall, off to the side on Central Avenue, away from the other stores. The person who registered me was super nice and friendly and gave me a tour of the place. The size of the gym is somewhat small, I would compare to a couple steps up from a hotel gym but slightly bigger. In terms of the equipment, it has several cardio machines, and a few squat racks, which doubles as a bench press if you set the height and bench properly. There's also some free weights, and free benches as well. What I look for at a gym is a place to do squats, deadlifts, bench press, and overhead press. Everything else is a bonus. They do have several machines, but nothing too serious for a good leg workout. But overall it gets the job done. There is no locker room per se, but there is three private bathrooms, which includes a sink, shower, and toilet. Overall, I would go here and recommend, if you're looking for a place that is 24 hours, but not as busy like an Xsport, with average equipment.

From day one, everyone here has been incredibly welcoming, supportive, and genuinely kind. It never feels intimidating, no matter your fitness level. The community is what really makes this gym special -- people encourage each other and celebrate progress in a way that feels authentic. Beyond the physical benefits, this gym has helped me so much with stress and anxiety. It's become a place where I can reset mentally as much as physically, and that's something I'm really grateful for. If you're looking for a gym where you feel comfortable, supported, and actually want to show up, this is it. Highly recommend!

That instructor had my limbs burning by the end so the yoga was a nice cool down. They provided the mats and weights etc. The facility itself is fine. There are saunas in the locker room. A few years ago fitness club was "remodeled" (a.k.a. made cheaper and less functional, yet, more pretentious), and little by little, the life-long clients started to leave. Pros: 1. It is a clean and quiet place for basic exercises (with limited number of clients, it is not too hard to keep it clean); 2. Spacious and clean women' locker rooms (lockers are, at least, 2 times bigger than La Fitness and Niles Park District); 3. Friendly and accommodating staff; 4. Locks are provided; 5. Clients are mostly seniors, very friendly and chatty. Cons: 1. "Remodeled" lockers are positioned too high for average woman to use entirely; 2. Maintenance is very slow; when things are broken, it takes weeks to fix them; 3. Due to "remodeling", the women bathrooms are now located in the MIDDLE of women locker room, completely denying any privacy. 4. Fitness club is overpriced for the number of features it is capable to provide (wait until summer season to join for 3 months, for lower price); 5. And, the major reason why I, finally, decided to stop going there: After the "great remodeling", the A/C keeps breaking down several times per year. It is bad enough that the gym is getting overheated during summer days, but the worse is that women locker room, including shower stalls, is 5 to 8 degrees COOLER than gym, all year around!

I'm definitely someone who gets super motivated,…read moregoes multiple times per week for a few months, and then an old injury acts up and puts the kibosh on that and I have to freeze my membership and then eventually cancel it. But, they're always super chill about it and it's a no-hassle situation. That stereotypical trope of it being impossible to quit a gym is fortunately not true here, which I appreciate. I was a member for maybe 6 months in 2014, then again for 3-4 months in 2016-ish, and then somehow found uncharacteristic intrinsic motivation and joined again on January 1 of 2025. Most recently, I actually went 2-3x per week for the first 6 months, and then kinda forgot that was something I was supposed to do. But I've gone once or twice a month since then at least. The gym itself has gotten a face lift in recent years, which is nice. It's not super fancy, but it doesn't need to be. I'm not going to the gym with the goal of being a social media fitness influencer who needs an aesthetic background setting for fake workout videos. Sometimes the fluorescent lights in the weightlifting area flicker, which is kind of obnoxious and migraine-inducing while bench pressing and looking up at the ceiling, but other than that I don't really have any complaints. It also has a community vibe -- the same people seem to be there every day, some of which I remember seeing back in 2014 when I first started. It's not uncommon to hear people stop to chat and catch up with each other. (But they also won't chat with you if you don't want them to. I'm more of a heads down and work person, so I'm more of a quick "hi" and mutual nod of acknowledgement when I see the same few people who are on the same schedule that I am). Everyone is super nice. The variety of equipment is nice, with several squat racks, lots of free weights, and pretty much any cable machine you might want. They also have battle ropes and a TRX in a back studio. Also plenty of the standard cardio equipment with a few specialty/fancier pieces. I do wish they would get some heavy bags (punching bags), though. I was a member of a boxing gym for a good stretch (2017 until the start of the pandemic) and do miss it. They have a variety of classes, which I don't do so I can't speak to those, but people seem to like them. Cost is reasonable, but definitely join when they do a no-initiation fee special because initiation fees are a scam and stupid. It's more expensive than a Planet Fitness but not nearly as expensive as LifeTime or other regular gyms. It's a fair price for a community vibe and at least it's not supporting a big corporate conglomerate and instead my fee is going to the park district.

My daughter and I are already active with other offerings of our park district, so this made sense to also go on our house account. It's close to home, decent hours, and everyone is very nice and accommodating. I love that it has members of all ages, and doesn't feel like a meat market. (That's the total vibe I got at Lifetime Fitness, which totally turned me off.) The pros for me: 1) Free towel and lock as a lot of people have mentioned 2) A variety of classes, even though the hours are hit or miss for me 3) A lot of machines, with individual TV screens, which is much better than Bally's was! 4) The kids room....even though at Bally's it was free; you can have an account or punch card there too and not have to pay every time 5) A nice track for walking or jogging And my all time favorite: A jacuzzi and sauna which look like they're barely ever used. I can definitely see solitude there, in the near future. I don't use public showers, but I can honestly say I see a cleaning lady in the locker room almost every time I'm there, which I like. The only con I'd say is the lack of a pool, but there is one at Devonshire (an outdoor one) a few minutes away, which is also part of the park district. Overall it's a very nice gym that suits my purpose, and I'm very happy there.

I would put this place as a step and a half above a hotel gym, but not quite the caliber of a typical commercial gym. They do have a cage, where you can do bench and squats, a small area with bumper plates for deadlifts, and then a large-sized rack, where you can configure the safety bars to do bench and/or squats. There are also four roll-away freestyle benches, and two sets of dumbbells, going all the way to 100lbs. One TV, to pretend youre watching, while you sneak a peak at your gym crush via the mirror, and a Smith Machine. The machines here are somewhat lacking; no a lot of Hammer Strength machines, and there's only one leg press, leg curl, and quad machine respectively. So be creative with your leg day, and use them dumbbells to do some modified RDLs and lunges, although walking lunges would be hard, as there's no real consecutive open space to walk to-and-fro without knocking into equipment or people. In regards to cardio, there are four treadmills or so, ellipticals, and stair climbers. There's boxing bags and a small turf area to do some sled pulls Overall, I would rate this 4-stars; 3-stars because of lack of machines, but adding a star due to it being opened.... anytime. The staff here is friendly and great too. BATHROOM REVIEW: 3 bathrooms here. 2 have showers, 1 is just a toilet. I usually come here at night, so the TP is lacking. Sometimes I get lucky, and they put out an extra roll, as a refill. The bathroom with showers, the surrounding bathroom area is rusty from the moisture, which is expected. Sit or squat? Squat.
