Disgusting!!

Usual, basic LA Fitness. Desk staff is very personable. Clean the locker rooms! Sinks have hair clogging drains. And showers are even grosser!

One of the first reviews I've ever written--and for good reason. I usually don't write reviews because I don't agree with the premise of them. However, I felt compelled to share my experience because this gym is genuinely a health hazard. There is black mold in the locker room. The lockers are filled with trash and infested with bugs. The equipment is filthy and covered in grime. It's honestly shocking that a facility in this condition is still operating. If you're reading reviews to decide whether or not to go here--please trust me, don't. Just 10 minutes away in Morton Grove, there's a very well-maintained LA Fitness that offers a much better experience, without the risk of getting sick from bacterial exposure.

The future you!
Agustin C.

This gym is absolutely fantastic. Beyond clean, the staff is super friendly and the weights are always rack back in place. I couldn't ask for a better gym and workout environment. Aside from that, the girl in the front is fantastic, her name is Jenn. She is super friendly and professional. She is always there to help and problem solved. Ask her if you want membership. She will give you the best deal.

People using sauna as a post workout drying place is a norm here.

Attend at your own risk! Through the years I've been to this gym there have been nothing but out of order facilities. Showers closed for months, out of order steam rooms and whirlpools. The official excuse is that they run through maintenance or do repairs. The true reason will never be disclosed, like the Legionnaires' disease outbreak in LA Fitness and they have the facilities closed just to wait it out. The place is filthy and there's noone to enforce ordinances or health regulations.

NO mention the outbreak of Legionaire's disease. They would have you believe this routine maintenance.

Clean gym, SPA IS CLOSED 300 DAYS OF THE YEAR! what am I paying for. As a "signature club" it's lacking many amenities.

Plus I wanted an option in case I had to fight a case of insomnia and couldn't go to sleep, and I need it to work out in the middle of the night. This anytime fitness is located near the Village Crossing Mall, off to the side on Central Avenue, away from the other stores. The person who registered me was super nice and friendly and gave me a tour of the place. The size of the gym is somewhat small, I would compare to a couple steps up from a hotel gym but slightly bigger. In terms of the equipment, it has several cardio machines, and a few squat racks, which doubles as a bench press if you set the height and bench properly. There's also some free weights, and free benches as well. What I look for at a gym is a place to do squats, deadlifts, bench press, and overhead press. Everything else is a bonus. They do have several machines, but nothing too serious for a good leg workout. But overall it gets the job done. There is no locker room per se, but there is three private bathrooms, which includes a sink, shower, and toilet. Overall, I would go here and recommend, if you're looking for a place that is 24 hours, but not as busy like an Xsport, with average equipment.

CS&C is the place in Chicago to go if you want to get strong AF. The fact is, that Dave (the owner…read moreand head trainer) subscribes to the best philosophy when it comes to lifting weights: "If it is complicated- you're doing it wrong. Commit to your training, eat and sleep like it. And you will get stronger." CS&C is a Starting Strength gym, which means that the focus is on three main lifts: squat, deadlift, and press. Other lifts are utilized when they are useful (bench, power cleans, etc.) for increasing strength. Dave and Karl's focus is on getting athletes to do the lifts right, which ultimately protects against injury. In the run up to my latest powerlifting meet, Dave sorted out my deadlift and Karl helped me with my bench. This isn't a place where you're gonna get a soy machiato frappacino with skinny whip after doing a set of quarter squats in the Smith machine or bicep curls in the rack. Honestly, if you wanna be a menace to society, go do that somewhere else. This is a place where you're going to get strong. If you listen to the coaches and put in the work, your squat, deadlift, and press numbers will ALL go up. And you'll be harder to kill, which if we're honest, is all anyone really wants.

I just happened to stumble into the class about 2ish years ago because I came at the wrong time. What I thought was a section of the crossfit class turned out to be a power lifting class. Since then I have fallen in love with the sport and have done multiple power lifting competitions. A big part of that was Dave. He explains things really well and is very knowledgeable. Even though the crossfit gym location was no longer convenient for me, I still kept coming and doing programs because of Dave. I am NOT the easiest of clients. I complain and make excuses all the time. Dave would calmly call me on my BS without being condescending. I was very excited for him when he opened his own facility at Chicago Strength and Conditioning. And even though this location is even MORE inconvenient for me, I still reach out to Dave for assistance. I utilized him for a great year long nutrition program. I signed up for 3 month program to help with a competition. Dave is my go to whenever I have questions or need advice about lifting. As a coach he's great and has help me improve significantly in all my lifts. He's worth every penny I have given. Review of the gym: I have only been to the gym a couple times since it's not near me and I do a lot of online programming. So I can't speak on membership pricing or local competitors. It may be small but it packs a punch. Each rack(I think there are 6 total) has it's own set of weights. And since the place is fairly new, the equipment is NICE! Recently, I showed up on a Saturday morning to get some in-person coaching. At first is was just me but by the time I was leaving, there was about 6 or 7 people there. It was intimate but I definitely didn't feel cramped. Everyone there was super nice and supportive of each other. There were people of all ages, strengths and sizes. All the coaches and athletes came up to me and introduced themselves. The few times I have been there, I really liked. If I didn't live so far away, I would totally attend this gym.

I've been going to LA Fitness for a while now, and overall it's been a solid gym experience…read more One of the biggest positives is the parking -- there's plenty of it, which makes it really convenient no matter what time you go. That alone makes a difference compared to other city gyms where you're circling the lot before even starting your workout. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. From the front desk to the floor staff, everyone's been approachable and professional whenever I've had questions or needed help. It can get pretty packed depending on the time of day, especially during peak after-work hours, so you might have to wait for certain machines. But if you go earlier in the morning or later at night, it's much more manageable. The sauna is a big plus. It's usually clean and well maintained, which is important. The locker rooms are also kept in good shape -- clean lockers, organized layout, and overall a comfortable space to get ready before or after workouts. Between the convenient parking, good staff, clean facilities, and solid amenities, it's a reliable spot to train.
