That is, until I was reviewing the portraits that I had to choose from. None of the images looked anything like me. Not only was I positioned very awkwardly but it made me look like I was much heavier than I am. The photos were embarrassing. When I expressed my concerns in an email to someone in the studio, she basically told me to either take it or leave it. I had the option to either pick an awful picture or not be a part of the composite with the rest of my class that I worked so hard to be a part of. I asked to have my pictures retaken or to choose an image of a different angle, but those options were also shot down. I expressed how badly I wanted to be a part of the composite but I could not choose an image that I was so unhappy with and still have not received a response. It has now been several weeks since my last email to the studio, at this point I am not sure if my photo that I paid to have in the composite will be a part of it or not. I was unable to purchase any additional photos to have for myself or to give to my family to remember such a monumental moment of graduating nursing school. However, I am glad that I didn't purchase additional photos because after seeing the edited images some of my friends have purchased. The photoshop work looks very unnatural. I have actually seen Snapchat filters deliver better and more natural looking images. Unfortunately, due to the lack of good quality photos and even worse customer service I could not recommend this studio to anyone. I would give 0 stars if it were an option. Customer satisfaction is last on this studios list of priorities.

A skylight that gave a wonderful diffused light, with lots of white walls that really filled in shadows well. I normally shoot with a lot of lighting equipment, and it just wasn't necessary at the location due to the natural light. Lastly, Jasano was a fantastic host. He showed me around the studio, made sure I had what I needed. Excellent wifi, and bluetooth, because how can one shoot without music. Thanks again, I will be back next time I'm in Pittsburgh.

I signed up for a Pinhole Camera Workshop to celebrate World Pinhole Photography Day and it was…read moreheld at Primal Photographic. This is a brand new studio for owners Chad Djubek, who is a Pittsburgh area Daguerreotype artist and his wife Darcy Stoltzfus, who does Art Direction and makes pretty awesome little Dag cases. The studio was very clean and setup so that it was easy to find everything. He had more than enough equipment/supplies for everyone to use, and there was only a little wait time to get in the Darkroom, to be expected when there are 7 people in a class. The Darkroom was clean and laid out in an easy to use fashion. Under Chad's supervision we built our own cameras out of cigar boxes, cans and the like. Then, we broke up and went to take our shots. By the nature of alternative photographic techniques, they don't always work or come out as you want, but Chad worked with everyone to troubleshoot their cameras and make sure they captured a good image before the class was over. At the end he scanned our images and uploaded them to the World Pinhole Day website with other photos from across the world celebrating photography's only holiday. I'll include an url of our images at the end, so you can see what we accomplished. All in All, I had a great day. I've already made about a dozen pinhole cameras in my life(20 years ago), so I didn't require as much help, but I did make a second camera with 5 holes and Chad helped me figure out exposures and a shutter system that was so easy even a caveman could have done it. He will be scheduling more alternative photographic workshops and I will be signing up for them. Plus, you can rent darkroom time. Did I mention he was primarily a Daguerreotype artist?
