My geology class was being taught astrology with no use of the text book because the teacher decided since it was his last year he would not use the core of learning and make up his own lessons with no textbook to study with(Mr.Dunphy). Each of the math substitutes were very open on not understanding the content they were teaching us and that most definitely showed as well. I'm now a junior and am still suffering because I of the blatant laziness shown by the teachers. On top of all of this the football team is completely brain dead. All that registers through there thick skulls is the useless bell that they lost cause the coaches suck too. As well as this school being very unsanitary. Rats infest the campus you will most likely be greeted by one on the way to the complete shite art course they provide. I can provide a video of this as well. Reconsider this school for your child or yourself because trust that they will not consider your future or your well being at all during your time spent. The unneeded attitude expressed by most of the teachers towards the students every day is tiring. There wasn't a single day I didn't have a sour interaction with an adult. These are adults are in work spaces but are to ignorant to realize what they signed up for. They are starting full arguments with 14-17 year old kids. There's nothing special about Copper Mountain College. I gave it three stars to be nice. It's…read morelocated out in the middle of nowhere so they don't get the best instructors. I went there to earn a certificate and I only had one course to go to fulfill the 15 units when they dropped the program. A few years later they brought it back and I was able to take that one course and get the certificate. I asked more than once why they dropped the program in the first place and never got an answer. They had to have a reason and should have just been honest with me. If you can, go to College of the Desert in Palm Desert instead of CMC in Joshua Tree. COD has better instructors and offers more degrees, certificates and individual courses.

I stopped in on a whim one Saturday, just planning to "browse." (Famous last words.) What I found instead was a cozy, vibrant gallery bursting with the kind of talent that can only come from locals who live and breathe the desert--every piece seemed to carry a little grit, a little magic, and a whole lot of soul. Their rotating exhibits mean no two visits are the same. One month, you might find expressive oils of stormy Joshua Trees; the next, serene watercolors of coyotes under a star-filled sky. The current show featured a mix of pottery, paintings (from abstract to impressionistic), and sculpture, and I left with a renewed appreciation for how diverse and talented our local art scene really is. But here's where things got dangerous: The gift shop. If you're someone who likes mass-produced kitsch, keep moving. But if you're into one-of-a-kind jewelry, ceramics, quirky cards, handmade ornaments, prints, bags, and a half-dozen other forms of functional art--you're going to want to bring a tote bag (and maybe a budget). What really impressed me, though, was the community energy. They offer classes and lectures for all ages and levels--from beginning bookmaking to urban sketching to printmaking workshops, and even youth classes. It's the kind of place where your kid can learn to paint while you talk to an artist who is currently hanging in the gallary. Everyone I met was welcoming, warm, and genuinely excited to talk art--whether you were buying or just appreciating.
