Being immobile for so long left me with drop foot. I couldn't walk without a brace holding my foot up and a walker. During my nerve test at the hospital, I was told to expect a 1-2 year recovery. Dr. Frank recommended two amazing little machines, used daily, and I was off the walker in 2 weeks and the brace 2 weeks after that. One month after being released from the hospital, having had to crawl up my stairs when I got home, I was able to start working out on my Tonal again. When my husband and I were there for the initial meeting, we specifically asked the Dr. twice: Do we get a refund on unused visits? He just said yes both times. I also asked the receptionist the day of the 1st visit when I handed her the check and she said yes. What was not clear to us is that if you take the discount, then they take the discount off the amount of money you have coming back if you want a refund for unused visits. And according to the contract, you might actually owe them money if you decide to stop the treatment near the very end of the series of visits. That may be hard to believe but that's what the contract states. So, read your contract. Another issue is the quality and handling of medical records. The Before and After X-rays taken by Lake Orion Chiropractic Center are done on old-fashioned films and are not good quality. We wanted copies for our own files but were told that we would have to take a photo of the X-ray with our phone or a camera. Imagine that! In this day when even veterinarians make x-rays and other screenings available in a digital format that they share on thumb drives or CDs or just email them to you promptly! The Dr. should be ashamed at his lack of quality x-rays, especially after being in business so long -- it is not like he is just starting out. It was also difficult to get copies of my medical records. I always like to get copies so I have them in my files at home - that way if I need to share them with another Doctor, or if Lake Orion Chiropractic Center goes out of business, I still have my own copies. But when I asked for copies, I have never heard so many excuses as to why the records are not ready or why they haven't done it. One excuse that surprised me when I asked for copies of the charts: "No one has ever asked us that question." I find that hard to believe, but that still doesn't explain why it took repeated calls and emails and a HIPAA release form to actually get the records. Bottom Line: Buyer Beware

After hearing another story of someone paying $5k for neuropathy treatment that didn't work. Dr. Ciccala sold them on the treatment, saying they wouldn't need surgery and ended up out of the $5k PLUS having to get surgery. I showed up emotionally spent trying to fix a problem. He appeared to listen and care without any pressure, etc. When I decided to start with him, over time I realized I kept returning without progress, and he did the same thing to address results each session. I finally asked him to review and compare xrays from 1 year prior (approximately) from another NUCCA chiropractor. He kept saying "he hasn't gotten around to it". I finally said, I'm coming in ONLY for the comparison. He was explaining with hesitation to say it was WORSE. I had to say it for him and he agreed. It was my sign to leave then and there. At one point I recall him rolling his eyes when he said people doubt his plan is working. I said, "well, I'm not noticing progress" and to see where I can improve the process, I asked if he had a massage therapy recommendation. He snickered and said "not for you". Another time I asked for a person who could assess nutrition needs and referred me to someone who I wouldn't consider an expert at all. Another service I received there, gave me little to no feedback and when I mentioned that to him, he said "she gives me a lot of info". I would say, the worse your condition is, move on to find a pro. I was at my worst and when you find people to be condescending in that state, says more about their true character. I think he has a good vibe initially - handsome, listens (for opportunity to sell in my opinion) and is a well run, efficient office. BUT my situation was a challenge and although I wanted to trust him, I found he would not have my back, literally or figuratively. Perhaps NUCCA is good, but I doubt it impacts hip/pelvic area at all. Perhaps this doctor and his supporting staff are the best for some. I would say, buyer beware for those with specific needs who want feedback, info and progress. The chiropractic profession has earned a reputation and I've come across various reasons why. He was a bit zipped up so I trusted the process until I experienced his lack of resourcefulness, etc and realized, I committed to his program but he was not committed to my results. Again, he may be great for some, but I find Dr. Ciccala to lack resources unless it's self serving. More than likely I would not have put this review up if their office showed any concern. But after quite a while, I thought I should because others might save their money and time and I don't want to think about them or hold onto this experience. I'm now able to let it go. More than likely, he will roll his eyes like he does about others who aren't experiencing progress.

Instead, the practitioner rushed through a high-velocity manipulation that felt, at best, unprofessional and, at worst, dangerous. Immediately after the adjustment, I experienced intense pain and neurological symptoms, which ultimately led me to seek care.Tests revealed that the chiropractor had caused a cervical injury, which required medical intervention to address. To put it simply, the chiropractor fractured my neck. This is not just a case of poor technique; this was a blatant disregard for patient safety.
