      ACE mechanics (mobile) in Melbourne deserve 0/5. I paid $1500 to get my car serviced and that…read moreincluded new brakes and rotors. After the service, I noticed a grinding sounds coming from my brakes. I contacted ACE and they sent a different technician out to "fix" the issue. Nothing changed, however the mechanic told me it can take a "few days" for the brakes to wear in - mind you, I know nothing about cars so took his word for it. 10 days later, the grinding sound remained so I called again. This time, they sent the original mechanic to my work to "fix" the issue. He spent approximately 30 mins with my car and advised me that he put a little grease on the brakes and he test drove it and the issue was fixed...it was for a whole day. I called again to report that the problem is still there and the receptionist was so rude, she said it is an intermittent issue when clearly the issue started after my brakes were changed as the issue was not there before. She offered for a mechanic to attend a 4th time but I declined as I have completely lost faith in this organisation and capability of its employee. Stay far away from this place, especially if you're a woman!

      I used these guys about 10 years ago for some plastic welding on my bike - finding plastic welders…read moreis hard enough, but finding good ones is even harder! Melbourne Motorcycle Fairings did a great job back then so I looked them up recently as I needed some work done and I was pleased to see they also now do servicing. They're customer service is great - they pay attention to what's wrong / needs doing; they're honest about what they'll do and how long it'll take and they respond promptly to calls and emails. Their work ethic is extremely high and the work they do is excellent. I'm really pleased with the finished job, and the fact that they also fixed up a few other little bits that they spotted needing doing, all for the same price quoted - which is a really good, fair price. I thoroughly recommend these guys for all things bike: servicing, repairs, tyres, plastic welding.

After some research I short listed Melbourne Motorcycle Fairings and was quite happy when they were also a preferred repairer of my insurance company. Great communication from the shop throughout the repair process. In the end my bike was only off the road for a week and once everything was done they dropped it off to my place of work late on a Friday afternoon. I'm extremely happy with the work these guys did and can't fault it or their service. Would highly recommend ... and even though I hope I never have to use them again ;) I would do so without any hesitation.

My office is in Toorak, so I did a quick search on their site which lead me to Darren White. I gave him a call, and my car was sorted out in the next couple of weeks. (Slight delay due to rain). My car looks great, and their work is as good, or better than any panel beater I've seen. Worth noting that while they are mobile, they obviously require power. If you plan to do it at your office, make sure there is an outlet, else a generator is used which can be a bit noisy.

      DIY Auto Parts is a car junkyard in Broadmeadows…read more Admission Fee is $2 (as with Pick-A-Part). You bring your own tools to take parts off cars. Parts prices here are similar to Pick-A-Part (depending on what you're getting). Others are slightly cheaper or more expensive. The car selection is good here for imported cars, and Aussie Fords as well. They also group them into sections in a more organised fashion than Pick-A-Part. They're organised into: Holden, Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mazda, Honda and Hyundai/Kia/Ssangyong. Then, at the back corner, there is just: European and 4WDs as well. They also have a 'desirable' section just to the left of the entrance, for cars that they think are likely to be popular. Staff are mostly good in my experience but again YMMV. Their website sucks though, they do not have a stock database anymore, so you need to keep track on their Facebook page, which can get difficult. Parking is pretty good, Public Transport access is okay, compared to both Pick-A-Parts. The 901 SmartBus runs right outside. If only Campbellfield Station on the Upfield Line would reopen, that would make it perfect. I would happily come back here if I knew the part I needed was likely to be there.
