A down to earth and customer-focused independent bike retailer…read more Good things: - Engaging and conscientious staff - Variety of bike types and brands - Central location Not so good things: - Lack of test ride venues - Shop can be crowded when busy Had a run of good experiences with these guys. Although they didn't have a bike that suited me when I first went in, they gave a lot of options and test rides and didn't push the sale when I decided not to buy. The bike I got elsewhere has gone in a couple of times for troubleshooting since, and the Cycles Galleria team has been great. They're not snobby toward commuter riders and noobs on a budget the way some bike places are, and seem genuinely keen to help customers get the most out of their ride. Despite the trend toward single brand shops in Melbourne (e.g. Specialized), Cycles Galleria appears to have a handpicked selection from several manufacturers, ranging from cute hybrids with baskets and kickstands up to sleek full carbon road and cyclocross bikes, plus some innovative belt drive commuters. Their prices are very competitive even though the rent must be horrendous in a city mall, and they'll consider price matching where it's reasonable. As another reviewer suggested, CBD traffic isn't great for test riding bikes, although at quieter times of day the area is perfect for trying out climbs and descents. The small-ish shop floor also tends to crowd when customers are browsing and a few people have bikes lined up for service. Overall, Cycles Galleria stands out for customer service in a market that seems to be moving toward high-volume warehouse retailers and elite racing specialists. Highly recommended for novice riders like myself who need good technical advice above and beyond the usual sales pitch.

Friendly and professional advice (best price in the city) The only bad thing is there is not much…read morespace to test ride the bikes.

Firstly, let me start with some facts. I am generally disorganised and a bit lazy when it comes to…read moresome things. Especially when it comes to bike maintenance. I am more than happy to ride my bike and more than happy to pay people to keep it running smoothly. This way I get more riding time! There is a stack of bike shops in melbourne, almost one on every other block it seems. They are all very happy to help you buy a new bike or to spend a lot on new parts to make your bike better but I have always struggled to find one that always gives consistently good services. It was another average day when I decided that the creek in my bottom bracket was too much to bare but knew that I was too 'time poor' to find a store to take my trusty stead to. So I found 'Good Cycles' and was sold by their 'we come to you' service. Their mechanic rode his trusty cargo bike out to the office and went to work! It was then that it struck me, this is going to be a very very different bike service. One where I could see what was going on. One where I could get up from my desk, grab a coffee and go and see how my bike was going and have a chat to the mechanic about the problems and get some tips about things I could do to make it easier next time. Not 'hard sell' use this but practical tips that I could actually use in my time poor world. When it was all said and done, it all comes down to price and quality. The price was right, it wasn't any different to your 'average' service. There was no price premium for them coming to me, however there is a bulk discount if you can get three or more in one place. The quality, well that was amazing. I havn't had my bike running that smooth since I bought it. In Short, the Good Cycle guys will be back at our office!

After researching all the bicycle repair shops in the Melbourne CBD, I found Good Cycles and not…read moreonly do they offer below average pricing, their customer service and mission should be all you need to know to make this your bicycle shop of choice. As someone who has overcome drug addiction myself, they offer people a second chance and teach them skills that will enhance their lives forever. I know firsthand exactly how important people and programs like this are for the people who really do want help to get better; it's everything. I received a standard tune up for my bicycle and they had finished it by the next day and now it rides better than ever. Highly recommend and will return for any of my bicycle needs!
