I was looking for a…read morefemale voice to replace my own in my first feature length documentary about the life and career of saxophonist, composer and arranger Teddy Edwards, with whom I had traveled for two years back in the 90s. The story I am telling is somewhat personal and revealing and it has a great deal of narration. After checking various sources and having one person cancel on me, I accidently discovered Debbie Grattan and her website with her great voice samples. I immediately wrote to her and she agreed to work with me on my first film. I sent Debbie my rough cut and the script, with all the timed out sentences. A couple of weeks later, we were ready to record. I had a phone session with Debbie, heard her say the sentences as she was reading/interpreting them, and was able to provide immediate feedback. We were done in one session that lasted two hours. Within less than 24 hours, Debbie sent me the files and I was able to immediately work with them and put them in my film. The experience was extraordinary, I had a little bit of anxiety going into to this since I wasn't sure if I had made the right decision to find someone to replace my voice to begin with, and since I wasn't sure how the first session was going to go. Also, there were some foreign words that required specific pronunciation and I was worried about those at well. But Debbie was laser focused, we moved along swiftly, and she even gave me the foreign words with perfect pronunciation! Throughout the entire experience working with Debbie, her focus and professionality helped me zero in on the process and I am very pleased it was so effortless. I highly recommend her services.
