It would be nice that people could count on those places to go to the park for a while and then get a frozen drink or snack. The dog area the last time I was there, had some part of the gate not working, and some holes on the fence. Wild life could be present too, we have seeing deer early on the morning when walking. The park is connected by a sidewalk to a lake if you go walking under the bridge on Merida St.

Locals are afraid to bring their dogs to the dog park area, there were no bags in the dog park area and all the trash was overflowing. Dog poop everywhere, probably because no bags were to be found to clean it up and apparently locals aren't intelligent enough to bring their own bags. Bottles and cans strewn around the dog park, broken gates, crummy fences. This place was built with using way too much money and then left to rot. The worst part is that according to a sign this park was built to honor veterans. Well if you ask me this is pretty sad. This place actually probably needs a a security guard or maybe even a police officer to watch over it. The bathroom smells like a methlab, this Park appears to be a popular drug junkie hangout. It has so much potential. But i suppose he community and the city don't have yet to purchase some standards.

I called once to voice a concern regarding the parking lot's entrance and exit that were not labeled, therefore cars/parents would fight to get in our out of the parking lot using the same gate. The staff placed huge signs assigning an entrance and an exit. I was so happy to see that they listened to their customers. It's just SAD that parents don't read the signs now, actually they IGNORE the signs and use the exit as an entrance and the entrance as an extortion whenever it's convenient for them. Ambiance: Because it's women only, the atmosphere is more conducive to working out than it usually is at co-ed fitness centers. Also, the electro music they play over the speakers rocks. Equipment: There's a decent variety in equipment (you'll find more strength equipment in the main gym). And, the equipment on the floor actually works. Fitness Classes: Except for the occasional flake (yes, a fitness instructor has failed to show for a scheduled class more than once in the month I've been a member), I've yet to have a bad fitness class experience. Front Restrooms: Restroom facilities & showers in the front of the gym are well-maintained. Pool: The indoor pool is heated perfectly, cleaned regularly and doesn't reek of chlorine. Price: They have a $20/month with no contract special going on. Just be forewarned - that doesn't include the sign up or processing fee... Still, it's cheaper than Gold's. CONS Back Restrooms: The showers and bathroom area for the racketball/pool section of the gym are disgusting, poorly maintained & often out of order. Front-desk Staff: It's hit-and-miss in terms of friendliness and hospitality here. Some are great -- others can't even muster a smile and will make you wait minutes for a locker key because they're too engaged in a conversation with another employee. Monitoring: The side/back door to the racketball courts and pool (located at the back of the women's gym) is never monitored. (It's also the only section of the women's gym that is co-ed and open on Sundays.) I wonder how many people use the facilities without a membership. ... Which leads me to paying for classes. It's an extra $10/month to take aerobic classes and another $10 if you want to do water fitness. Save yourself the $10-20. Instructors for neither check to make sure those in attendance have that as part of their membership. Parking: Because it shares parking with the main gym, parking is limited during high occupancy hours. Many members resort to blocking vehicles and parking in the dirt area behind the gyms.

I handed the cashier $5, and she informed me she had no change and would be keeping $3.00. When I reasonably suggested that the business absorb the 14 cents rather than overcharge me by 86 cents, she refused, became dismissive, rude, and would not call a manager to resolve the issue. I do not expect to be overcharged or spoken down to, especially by an employee who is unprepared to handle basic transactions. I spend a significant amount of money here, and I will not tolerate being disrespected by some mouthy teen.

Price is actually quite cheap for the wonderful experience. There are many challenging holes and some easy ones too. One problem is that sometimes balls can get lost, but it is easy to replace them. Overall, highly recommend this place for people looking for a fun time in Laredo.
