I attended this church for a number of years back in the early to mid 2000's. I experienced severe…read morepychological abuse at the hands of the former and current "pastor." I was constantly told I was prideful, originally stemming from incorrectly sending a text to Gary Cote asking about a church event meant for a different churhc's pastor. His response was, "So you are calling another man pastor now." From that point on I was told I was prideful and not doing enough, which caused me to develop OCD trying to cram spiritual disciplines in to please Gary. Eventually I was told by the current "pastor" Adam I should beg on my hands and knees to Gary for forgiveness. It took years of therapy to get to a good place. Additionally, this and far worse stories were presented to the leadership of the Northern New England District of the Assemblies of God. The current superindtendent Dan Abattello told a room of around 20 hurting victims he would not open an investigation. This review is not simply a begrudged former attender lashing out, but a plea for anyone considering attending to stay away for the sake of your wellbeing. It is also a plea for justice from those who have a responsibility to care for the weak like Dan Abatello. So, I have had some interesting times with this church. My…read morelittle brother Timmy and I went to this "church" in hopes of finding a solid church family and a place to deepen our relationships with the Lord Jesus Christ. What we got was far from that. My first experience was being greeted very aggressively and Timmy, who by the way has polio, was made fun of because he was different and had polio. We let it slide because we thought it was just the greeters... It wasn't just the greeters. The paster then puts some lady on the stage and said she was going to hell because she did the twist with a guy... The dance... the twist... with a guy... AND THAT EQUALS ETERNAL DAMNATION TO HELL?! It was at this moment we knew, we done messed up, but we decide to stick out because they had donuts at the end of service as those are Timmy's favorite as polio restricts his diet. We were then greeted by the head pastor and I was kinda scared as it looked like he was foaming at the mouth. Not sure if he had rabies at the time. Hope he got that checked out. The conversation that followed was one of conflicting ideology and bad theology. I am 90% sure that it was a cult because I heard people talking about people who were being shunned. I was distubed by it and wanted nothing to do with it. But they convinced me to go to bible study with them because they had donuts. [And I knew Timmy would love more doughnuts.] It was more or less the same thing, but Timmy got his doughnuts. I wouldn't recommend this church to anyone. The only reason this has 2 stars is that I figured its probably better than that church in Waco Texas. Hope it helped.
